I know this is an old topic, but is it alright if I add something here?
Is it just me, or did anybody else get the impression the Yellow Bellies were under the influence? There's a theory that berries in prehistoric times contained a small percentage of alcohol, and mass consumption of them would sometimes cause certain creatures to become "drunk" (and often fall victim to predators as a result). When the Yellow Bellies came into the Great Valley, they seemed relatively sober compared to when they left, possibly because of expository dialogue such as this:
Littlefoot: How long's it been since you ate?
Loofah: Must've been...err...let's see...right before you guys showed up.
Doofah: But not berries. Berries are the best!
I guess the Yellow Bellies would've eaten those berries until they died of certain alcohol-related complications...
