The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

A Land Before Time X Tribut

Alright, here we go guys. I worked on this for a long time (doesn¥t mean I take no critism :p). But anyway, I think I kinda succeeded with it. :-)

The beat matches the clips, but a music video has to have much more than that.  The process of making a video include:

Choosing a song - it can't just be any song.  It has to have a central theme and has to be able to be applied to the video content you wish to overlay it with.

Choosing clips - Let's face it.  Almost all songs deal with emotions, therefore there usually has to be a centralized character in the clips you choose.  If there isn't, you get a video that takes a bunch of random clips and puts them together to make the music match, which is what you did.  That's not usually enough.

Purpose - You have to have a clear purpose when making a music video.  What do you want to accomplish?  Do you want to entertain the viewer?  Tell a story?  Prove a point?  Your music video seems to only have the purpose of entertaining the viewer, which is fine, but having another purpose would greatly help your work.

Timing - this is something you've already mastered.  The clips must match the beats of the music and transitions must not overpower the video clips.

Transitions & Effects - these things are very cool and very useful, however it is very evident when you use a clip or effect that has no centralized purpose.  You didn't do too bad with this, but there was 1 or 2 video effects that seemed to serve no purpose.  You've gotta axe the habit of using those.

If you want a good example of a music video that has a centralized theme and purpose, has great timing, and avoids unnecessary transitions effects, take a look at this one I made a while ago:

*I'm not trying to criticize.  I can tell that a lot of work was put into your video.  I'm just trying to give you some tips for your next one.

I disagree. A centralized character (which would mean a character tribute) is not always required to make a good mv. I have seen good mvs myself that are not focused on just one character. Not saying a centralized character is a bad thing (many of my newest mvs are like that), but a tribue to a movie or series as a whole is just fine too.

An example of a good mv that doesn't have a centralized character:

Note: Due to the copyright claim wave going on, I'm not sure how long that link will work.

Honestly mate, I don¥t take it as criticism. But, if I want to do a movie with a meaning for me or a central figure for it, then I¥d do. But it was just random. I played around with the program itself. In my opinion, videos doesn¥t have to have a special meaning or something. It should entertain other people. And again: Honestly, I think more videos of mine like this will follow. Because, I just do it for fun, and not to tell others a story.

Yeah, and that's fine.  I was just pointing out that if you could do both, it would be better.  But just having a music video to entertain is fine.
