The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

My participation in the fourth one will all be based on whether I can keep up with it. I've got work and a group on fanfiction.net that I'm busy with.

Thought It would not be to bad to mention a char from a mystery series I use to read/listen to.  Jim Qwilleran is from The Cat Who Series, in case anyone ( I doubt anyone is interested) is curious.

It's a book series.  Done by Lilian Jackson Braun.  It can be said to be in 2 eras.  There is the 1 where Jim is working for a news paper in a large town.  She wrote 3 books then quit for some reason for almost 20 years.  1-3 came out over 1966-68, book 4 came out in 1986 & she's been doing 1 book a year, more or less, since 86.  It's up to 34, but I've only read/listened to up through book 24.

Jim (I won't try to spell his last name, I'd have to copy paste it) and his 2 cats.  Though he doesn't get his 2nd cat till book 2 or 3.  Jim starts out working for a newspaper in a large city, having been a alcoholic for years and luckily when he now wants to straighten out his life a friend of his is an editor for a newspaper in the large town.  He solves murders, mostly it's his cat koko who gives him clues and most of the time he's as much of a dunce at missing them as Jimmy and Lois are at not noticing that clark looks exactly like superman except he has on glasses.  It seems koko is a very smart cat and a bit psychic maybe, with Jim having bits now and then, supposedly all tied to his mustache, or koko having more whiskers then normal cats.

He does eventually piece the clues together.  Often the books have odd background characters.  & once Jim moves up north in the 5th book then often keep the same odd background characters instead of having new ones with every book.

So I thought why not mention them.

No non humans in the book, unlike Anonymous Rex and the prequel I've not read.

Maybe, I've not heard of that.    I like the books since they do have some comedy in them, or at least to me.

Ok.  Though Jim isn't to dense.  He does eventually start noticing clues on his own.

Koko often does.

I saw a bit of the Case closed thing.  The guy reminds me of a char from a book series I read decades ago, Encyclopedia Brown.  & the girl seemed a bit like his friend and partner, Don't recall what her name was.  Though Encyclopedia Brown's female friend & partner is much nicer then the girl in the case closed is, except to Bugs Meany.

Sally I think he name was. And I read a bunch of those books growing up. Bugs always tried to get even with Leroy)his real name) for busting up his scams, and never managed to do it..there is a thing called photographic memory, leroy had it..

He'd never touch Encyclopedia brown since Sally could punch him out I think.  I doubted anyone ever heard of those books since they are pretty old.

Very true.  I doubt they have the books in e-book format.  Those take up less room then paper books.
