The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

I picked up George Orwells Animal Farm at a book store over the last vacation and blew right through it in about 2 days. I was wondering if anyone else has read it and liked it because i thought it was a fantastic book.

I've heard great things about it, but never got around to reading it. I'll definitely pick it up one day :)

I read the book looooong ago.  I also saw an animated version and one that looked more like a live action sort.

That was one of the only books I read in middle school that I actually liked a lot. It was so well written.

This is the ONLY assigned book I've read that I've actually liked.  I've hated every other book that my school's told me to read.

Yes, I have read the novel and seen the animated feature.

Whilst I enjoyed both, I couldn't stop focusing or comparing really about the historical political references.  Which fuelled my enjoyment much more so.

One question that always bugged me, is what happened to Snowball/ I know Napolean forced him out.. napolean is a stand-in for Stalin, and Snowball for Trotsky...

As I recall the book didn't say I don't think.  Maybe whatever happened to the rl Trotsky happened to snowball, or he was forced to just leave the farm.

I always thought Snowball had been killed on Napoleon's orders....

I thought he had been either shot or attacked by the dogs?

In the animated video version he is attacked by dogs, if I recall correctly.

Wasn't there another pig, who Napoloen had killed?

I know Napoloen sent off Boxer to the glue factory.

No,, not that I can recall. Snowpaw was Napolean's main rival. Boxer was a horse..

Sorry Nick, I should have amended what I said:  I know Boxer was the Shire horse.

I just seem to recall (perhaps it's not an actual recollection maybe a fantasical error on my part) that there was another pig besides Snowball....

I'd have to re-read the book now.

(Edit:To change length of post, return key keeps getting stuck...)
