The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Tell us something about yourself!

That would be a custom title (what's below your avatar) in a heartbeat at another board where they sometimes just take stuff you say and make them your custom title.  I don't do that here, but that's too funny to be overlooked. :p

Malte, what has history taught you about electric sockets? :lol

Oh yeah, gotta post something about myself.....

If we're putting up incredibly stupid stuff now, I got one.  We had a wood firestove at our old house and on this iron stove we had some weird temperature guage.  Well when I was about seven or so I wanted to see if that really moved or if it was stuck while there was a fire going. :o :o  Ow ow ow is all I got to say. :p

It has taught me that I can electrocute myself on it and live to tell the story ;)
Hmm... I wonder what happens if I put the key of my door into that socket but before I do that I still need to find out if casting tin is indeed more dangerous than boiling coffee :smile

Wow. What happened to this thread. Everyone is talking about how they have hurt themselves.

^ You said the same thing when everyone was talking about their alcohol preferences. :rolleyes :p

I know the tidbits we post about ourselves in this thread aren't supposed to follow any particular pattern, but I think that when people read someone else's post(s), they often get "inspired" to post a fact about themselves in a similar vein, forming chains of mini-topics. If other posters seem to have a subject going, I'm usually not one to break it, though when it comes to conversations, I'm something of a master at setting the topic adrift (usually inadvertently). :p

Somethin' I find strange is how I can run for six miles without one mishap, and yet I can't barely make it through or even out of my house without some kind of mishap (usually tripping) happening .

I used to take lithography classes, but gave them up when I learned that I had no talent or real interest in them...

It's in my signature now :p.

I am not squeamish and can tolerate a LOT of nasty sights and smells, but the one smell I can't stand is that of formaldehyde (ya know, the liquid morticians preserve corpses with).  It gives me a migraine and makes me nauseated :x.  During my Human Anatomy and Physiology course, I had to sit next to buckets full of dissected pigs submerged in formaldehyde for three weeks :x.  It was so bad the entire biology building smelled of it.

Wow. And I thought the time I dissected a frog was a bad thing... lol.

The only time I ever had to dissect anything was during an Animal Biology class I took in the spring of 2006 as a college prerequisite. While I have a relatively strong stomach, I can't say that I enjoyed cutting apart dead animals (especially with the dull dissecting scalpels we had to use). But, like Cancerian Tiger, it was the smell of the formaldehyde that got to me the most. :x (I think I'm allergic to the stuff.)

I can't stand the smell of formaldehyde myself... I smelled it before... there was a lab once where we saw a partially bisected human brain in a jar of it... ugh.

In other news, my palm pilot crashed and now, when I turn it on, there are all sorts of weird colors around what looks like a smudge... and hitting reset doesn't work...

^The only thing I ever cut up was a live lobster for cooking school.  I'll never be doing that again.

My favorite bug is a praying mantis.

I am not averse to dissection but the smell of formaldehyde can get me extremely ill (nausea + massive headache + nasal burning + dizziness).

I ate a Thresher Shark for dinner today.

I love seafood.

Me too. I'm especially partial to crustaceans, though I can't stand the thought of selecting a live lobster from a tank to be cooked. Even if they're all destined for the dinner table anyway, I'd feel too much like an executioner. :( (But that's just me; I can understand that large edible arthropods don't elicit the same sympathetic connections in most people. :p)

I've only ever been to one live concert in my life. At the age of 10, I went to see the late Michael Jackson at Wembly Arena in London back in 1995. It's the only one I've been to so I have to say it was my best one  :D

I hate when people say, "be a good girl", I just feel weird when people say that, even if it's not directed at me...:p
