With a start, and a small cry she tried to stiffle, Kit jolted awake and glanced about at the trees and such about her. A sleep story, it had just been a sleep story, she was on the island with Chomper she reminded herself, oh but the sleep story itself! The little flyer shook her head and got up to walk about a bit.
Petrie had noticed his cousin's distress though and followed a bit, looking confused, "You ok?" he asked. Kit started, not knowing he was there, "Oh Petrie, it's you, don't do that" she smiled a bit. "Sorry" Petrie frowned, "why you up, the bright circle not up yet?".
Kit sighed, "I had a sleep story...a-about the grown-ups. They didn't find any greenfood and...and...my dad, your mom, your siblings, everyone, they all just...oh Petrie it was really bad". Kit suddenly launched herself onto Petrie in a hug and cried a few tears, "I just...wish I knew how they were doing" she whispered.
Petrie could only hope Kit's sleep story stayed just that, as he too remember them walking father and farther from the Valley across dead, brown, land.
"T-that not happen" he tried to convince himself too, "L-Littlefoot's grandpa too smart for that, they find food...just...without us" he frowned. Kit, who had stood back from hugging Petrie, didn't answer but just glanced over at the sky, thinking, hoping.
