The two remaining Cayuse helicopters entered Las Vegas city limits, catching up with the pursuit without the hassle of armed civilians in their way....

The pursuing Black Hawks halted as they neared the city. They could not jeopardize any civilian lives with a fire fight in the city. They quickly radioed in to whatever precinct or National Guard in their frequency of the hostile choppers and then left to rejoin the extraction...

Meanwhile, the other two Black Hawks landed near the team on the roof, just as Feral and Aiko joined them. However, two trenchcoated men with anti-armor rifles set themselves up on an adjacent roof...

Vic ran next to Feral. "You got what we came for?" he shouted over the noise.

"Yes, and we have to get out of here! There's a bomb set up to blow this base apart!."

They were only feet from the copter when a loud shot was heard, and the windshield of the copter shattered, pelting the pilot with shards of glass. Feral was the first to find the snipers, and pushed Aiko and Vic to the ground...and the second sniper's bullet punctured the base of his neck...

Snow screamed, and Dr Joe too sighted the snipers, raised the rifle that feral had given her, and fired. Her incendiary round sliced through the air to strike the scope of one of the snipers and exploded, tossing what's left of the hitman backwards.

The second assassin turned and tried to run, but was riddled with holes by one of the Black Hawk's mounted guns, and fell lifeless to the ground...

No one saw a helicopter leave the hangar and shot off towards the Mexican border, containing the assassin leader and Dragonstorm experiments left behind by Dr Branston...

The pilot only had some cuts from the windshield, but he was still fit to fly. "We gotta go now!"

Aiko and Vic picked up Feral and dragged him to the other Black Hawk for much needed room to try and save his life. X-278 pressed himself next to Snow with the fear of what he saw, but held out his hand to Dr Joe, who set the rifle down on the floor of the chopper to hold the young fox's paw.

The Black Hawks began to ascend into the night sky away from this hell. Vic hurried to pull out all the stops to save his commander...

Where'S the main gas line on that SUV? Aisha asked " We've taken out the auxillary tanks.. wheres the main one? We take that one out , we've got them..!"

Alfred pushed the accelerator to the floor and watched as the accelerator of the convertible climbed past 140 miles per hour, eventually topping out at 160.

Alfred glanced at the GPS unit. "Wait, we're heading north?"

"I don't know." Nixon said.

"Probably inside the armored lab." Dr. Greene said.

Dr. Branston radioed Ariol. "Ariol, we're heading up north. Are you taking the remaining experiments to the southern base? When you're ready, I'll set the bomb off."

"Dr. Branston, O'Neill's been hurt! He's in the bathroom." a Macaw scientist said, sticking his head into the control room. Dr .Branston and the technicians got up and headed to the bathroom leaving the control room empty.

Dr. Kerzach, sitting opposite the control room, glanced at Shelton. "We're clear." he whispered.

Yes keep your foot to the gas" Aisha said as she noticed the Armored SUV coming closer and closer.. "I just hope that .. what the " a cruise missile fired from a blackhawk flying over head struck the backend of the armored suv, tearing off a piece of the back of the SUV. Debris hung off the end, and fell off on the road. 'My God! That almost hit us!Dr Landon said from the back.."was that helicopter aoiming at them, or us?'

The Black Hawk turned its guns on the convertible and started shooting at it. The agile convertible weaved around the shots. Nixon's Lamborghini attracted the attention of one of the armored SUVs, which deployed a gatling gun and tried to shoot it but the Lambo was far too agile and fast for the gunner to hit.

"Now we know!" Dr. Greene deadpanned.

Hans, who was in the distance behind them, tried his best to lock onto the Black Hawk. He managed to get a lock and he fired, cutting the cockpit in two and killing the pilot. The helo crashed next to the road in a huge fireball.

Werner, Zachary, Dr. Zanasiu and PFC Reynolds were following behind the two sports cars. But since their vehicles were much slower they were farther off in the distance.

Dr. Falco radioed Bradley and Dr. Bailey. "Bradley and Bailey, this is Falco, get a vehicle and haul ass away from the base! There's a bomb in the base. Falco out."

"Where exactly are we flying to?" Dr. Bjurling asked.

Dr. Bailey listened to the transmission on his portable radio. "Yeah. I got shot in the leg. And I'm stuck in a [censored] office chair."

"And I got shot in the shoulder. Can't drive with one arm" Dr. Bradley replied.

Dr. Bailey thought a moment. "Bradley, see if you can push me to the parking lot. I have my keys."

(OOC - Kenjiro, are you planning to participate in the final battle of the RP or is this your way of ending your participation in the RP?)

Shelton led the way into the room. "give me one second," he said.

After decidedly more than one second, he admitted, "This won't be as easy as I thought. Basically, the way it's wired, if we turn the timer off, it'll just explode the second they pull the trigger."

(OOC:Is this where Kerzach suggests they crash the truck? I have an answer ready.)

Aisha could see into the back of the SUV.. the strike had killed a number of scientsts.. there were a couple of bodies that were visible .. she shuddered.. "that could have been us.' she said as the car swerved ti avoid another round of gunfire..

(OOC - They technically can't crash the truck because it is not controlled from the console but this is where Dr. Kerzach suggests sabotage.)

Dr. Kerzach looked at the control panel and grinned. "I'll bet we can do some serious damage with this panel. Maybe short out some vital systems, dump the fuel, stuff like that." He then looked at the timer. "Maybe we can set it to its maximum time. If we do that, James and his crew may have enough time to get back to Pelvanida and disable the power supply. Remember that I overheard them say it's a pure fusion bomb set off by an explosively pumped flux compression generator. These require a capacitor bank to deliver the required current to set off the generator. If James and his crew either cut the power or destroy the capacitor bank, then no mushroom cloud."

"Way ahead of you on the timer," Shelton said, finishing with a flourish. "9 hours and fifty-nine minutes. That's the best I can do, especially when Branston can return at any time."

Just as he said it, he saw Branston emerging from the bathroom and extricating himself from the crowd. Shelton rushed out of the control room as fast as possible.

"Hey, Ian. How bad is he?" Shelton asked quizzically, moving so Branston would look away from the control room.

"He's sleeping in the crew quarters right now. The odd part is that the injury on him doesn't look like it was caused by falling debris and it doesn't seem like he tripped and hit his head on anything." Dr. Branston replied.

Dr. Kerzach left the control room and sat in his chair.

"Odd," nodded Shelton, contining to his seat.

Once Dr. Branston had reentered the control room, Shelton leaned over to Kerzach. The other scientists were chatting about O'Neill, and Shelton silently passed the radio/flashlight to Kerzach. "One of us needs to tell James the new information about the bomb. Take this to the roof and contact James using the frequency it's currently set to. I'll keep the scientists near the door talking about O'Neill."

(OOC: Just doing this so the conversation can go fast, since you control both characters. Also, if James talks about leaving them on Lab 101, I think Kerzach would be more willing than Shelton to accept this and say Pelvanida is more important.)

Dr. Kerzach nodded and scaled the elevator shaft. He entered the top and braced himself against the remnants of the structural supports. He held onto one of the supports with his free hand and used his other hand to radio Dr. Zanasiu.

"James, this is Yuri, come in." Dr. Kerzach called over the roar of the wind.

"Yuri, this is James, I hear you loud and clear." James replied via the radio.

"James, Shelton and I fixed the timer. There are 9 hours and 45 minutes before the bomb goes off. It doesn't look like they triggered it yet. Kerzach out.

Dr. Zanasiu radioed everyone on the team. "Everyone, this is James, Shelton and Kerzach have reset the bomb's timer. If we hurry, we'll have nearly 3 hours to find and disarm the bomb. We'll need everyone to save Pelvanida and the innocents that are still there."

Alfred was barely able to hear Dr. Kerzach speak over the wind but he made out the words, "bomb" and "9 hours".

"Aisha, we've got enough time to disarm the bomb." Alfred said.

Dr. Zenarchis, who was sitting next to Dr. Branston, pulled out his radio and the the bomb trigger from a pocket. Dr. Branston pulled out his bomb trigger. "Ariol, are all the experiments and scientists evacuated? Branston and I both have our triggers out. We await your command."

Alfred, and Nixon made a completely illegal U-turn in the middle of the highway and headed back to Pelvanida.

Dr. Zanasiu spotted Alfred and Nixon's vehicles heading in the opposite direction.

"Well, I guess they decided to disarm the bomb." He then radioed everyone. "Everyone, this is James, we are returning to Pelvanida. Repeat we are returning to Pelvanida!"

He along with the other vehicles behind him made totally illegal U turns in the middle of the highway and drove back towards Pelvanida.

Dr. Kerzach watched as the convoy broke off and headed back to Pelvanida. He put the radio away and reentered the lab.

when he did so, a Lemur scientist confronted him. "And what have you been doing, Gallo?" she demanded.

Dr. Kerzach didn't flinch. "I was inspecting the armor on the roof."

The scientist, satisfied, walked away from Dr. Kerzach.

He then went up to Shelton. "Shelton, " he whispered, handing the radio back. "James and his crew are heading back to Pelvanida. We're on our own now."

"That took less than a minute. Glad they spent some time agonizing about having to leave us to the wolves," Shelton commented sarcastically. He looked around. "We'll be out of the city perimeter in minutes. If you need me, I'll be calculating our odds of survival in the days ahead."

"Don't be so mad; I'm pretty sure they had their reasons." Dr. KErzach said.

"Almost out of fuel." Alfred said.

"Same here." Nixon replied. He was driving next to them.

Alfred and Nixon pulled into a gas station and hastily refueled. As soon as they were done, they drove off without paying but the cashier stopped protesting as soon as he saw Dr. Greene's military ID.

"Shouldn't we head back for Kerzach and Shelton?" Hans asked.

Dr. Zanasiu shook his head. "There is only enough time to either save Shelton or Pelvanida."

"Can't we split up?"

"No. We'll need everyone we can get to find and disarm the bomb. Taking down the convoy requires everyone as well. For now, the bomb takes higher priority."

"Why?"

"There are still probably several hundred scientists and other staff in the base who do not know of the bomb, thanks to the power being cut. They'll all die if we don't disarm the bomb. It's a tough choice, sacrifice 2 or sacrifice hundreds. I would rather be responsible for two deaths than hundreds of deaths."

"But, James, you know two of those you are leaving on the convoy." Hans protested.

"Hans, I have made up my mind. I will not change it." He noticed that the fuel was nearly empty. "Great."

He pulled into a truck stop with the others following. He got out and along with the other Humvees and the Stryker, proceeded to refuel.

Dr. Kerzach went to the small kitchen in the back of the lab. He helped himself to a bowl of vegan chili, which he hastily gulped down and made a tuna fish sandwich for Shelton. He then noticed a list of suppliers left on the dining table. He stuck the list into his pocket and returned to his seat.

He handed the sandwich to Shelton and began reading the suppliers list.

His eyes widened as he noticed one of the on the list names: Rara Terra Smelting.

"Shelton! I worked for one of their suppliers!" Dr. Kerzach whispered.

"Yeah, I still don't know who that is," asked Shelton, the re-mentioning of this unknown Smelting character causing him to momentarily forget the situation and future he was currently looking at. "She run a cold cut joint or something?"
