Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Monday May 25, 2009 - BCRF09 - Robin Hood


Cartoonist Comments: Okay, I decided not to do the strips colored this week (since I have so much on my template that needs to be done and taken care of) But I have changed my technique up a bit. I'm now using a very cheap, basic ink pen for smaller detail. While it may seem to be needing some work here and there, I'm honestly pretty pleased with the results. I can now fit more into the panels without worry of line thickness.

 more detail! more zoom out powerz! not too many talking heads in future strips! =)

I can now add more expression in the art...

Notice the detail in the backgrounds in this strip.. the bushes, the grass, the shaded sky which looks nice, and Rick's feather.

Isnt it nice?

Sunday May 31, 2009 - BCRF09 - In Conclusion


Cartoonist Comments: With new inking style also comes a new coloring style! While vector graphics are nice for cell coloring, I find the air brush to not be so dark, and much more easier and faster to use... but while this strip may be a bit messy (rushed) in this technique, it actually looks pretty good. I intend to continue to practice and play around with it. And if I find it to my liking, then by the 100th strip, I may use it to color daily stris as well and not just the sundays... We shall see!

Mikey's conscioce is stuck in an alternate world after being turned down by his dream date. there he met a mysctical guru by the name of Tim. Here he's being taken back to his workd after his half brother Rick finds out the only way to bring him back which is smelling salts :p

I think the story would be told best if you went back and read it yourself starting with this strip:

Friday - 11-19-10 - Mikey's Awakening


This is one of many experimental strips. Instead of attempting small detail with your basic ink pen I decided to downgrade to a simple #2 pencil which works far more better for shading (and much smaller detail) the experiment here mostly takes place in the first panel with the bookshelf in the background. Its not all about detail though. I wish to duplicate the effect of soft background imagery to eventually push the strips to a more animated film look. As you can tell, there's still a long ways to go to achieve such a effect.

anyway, Mikey finally awakens from his stupefied state and thus also ends the Mind Void ark :)

And about the punchline: look back at the Super Sunday Special labeled "Mama Mia" where Mikey is indeed wearing pink roller skates. Those are indeed the roller-skates of Falene's sister, Angel. Mikey and Angel share the same shoe size... isn't that so... well... cute.... somehow? xD
