It was too late. The party was noticed. Several guards drew their swords.

"Damn it!" Adykon shouted, drawing his own sword. Looking at the guards, he saw that they had far more detailed armor than any he had fought before; they bore a design on them of a dragon holding an eight-sided star in its mouth... the insignia of the royal family of Hekaga!

The plan to get on the cart was abandoned... there was no way that they could fit all of them on it... no way at all, and even if they could fit them, they had been spotted, so combat really was the only remaining option.

So" Much For that" Minna said,  Shooting a fireball at a nearby guard. the fireball hit him in his armor and threw him backwards against the wall with a loud clang. Ilsa then turned her attention another gusaard and threw a fireball at him, but missed..
Ilsa climbed back off the cart and jumped into the fray.

Arianne came from where she was standing and launched a strong wind spell towards some of the Guards that were getting to close to them, blowing them away.

Eriol prepared himself for the battle too, drawing both of his swords and smiling evilish as he said. - "So, they sure are Guards with shiny armors, they may be Guards from the Prince's own castle." - He smailed as he was able to deflect the incoming attacks, using both swords and his agility to block all attacks so far.

(OOC: apologies for not posting much lately. I've lost my primary internet connection, so I don't know about being able to post often. In any case, feel free to play the grumbly old Dracon if you want  :lol )

'Oh, this is just fantastic,' Eternion moaned. 'Can't go one damn minute without running into trouble.'

It was just like old times, and it was making him awefully giddy.

'Righto,' he said as he pulled his battleaxe from his back. 'Who wants a piece of me?'

One of the royal guards obliged, and came at Eternion with sword whirling.

Eternion gave the guard a swift kick to the knee, managing to knock over the guard... and nearly break his own foor in the process.

'That smarted,' the old Dracon growled. 'Should have just used my axe.'

He turned to the others. 'Do we have a plan?' He said as he dodged an incoming sword, which just glanced off his armor. 'I for one don't like the idea of fighting the royal family guards.'

'When the prince hears about this,' Eternion said, hitting another guard across the head with the handle of his axe, 'he's going to want all of our heads...'

'...And he'll probably have them all nicely arranged, too. Probably in a nice little row at the front of the palace, with little jewels dangling off our noses. And- HEY! Watch where you're swinging that thing!'

Eternion put his axe through a guards shield, sending the young looking Dracon backwards. 'What happened to the good old days when you could talk in the middle of a fight and NOT be rudely interupted?' Eternion hissed.

That was a long time ago" Ilsa said knocking another guard back with a spell. "Nowadays people don't talk much in battle,, I usually don't.."
Marcus Pulled an arrow from his quiver, set it in the bow, and fired. The arrow struck a guard and stuck there, quivering inbetween the pieces of his armor..

(OOC: What are the odds that BOTH Australian players would have internet connection problems?  :lol Still, as long as you can post a couple of times a week, it is fine.)

Adykon realized that this was a fight the party could win, as long as any survivors were chased away from where they could get reinforcements. He wasn't sure where the caravan was headed, but if it contained food, it was likely a granary. Since the guards had such elaborate armor, it probably had something to do with the food supply for a palace or castle. It reasoned that wherever the caravan was going, there would be even more guards... they had to get in front of the caravan, then force the guards to run in the opposite direction.

"Get in front of the caravan!" Adykon shouted to the rest of the party.

The Caravan had at least two dozen carts in it.. so getting in front of it was easier said than done, but luckily, the caravan had stopped as the fight had broken out.
_ matcus nmotioned to Rhiga and her sisters. ' grab kos, and head down to the front of the caravan...We'll join you after we handle these guards..

Ilsa and Minna continued peppering the guards with spells.. and they were starting to become more and more effective..

After some time, it was clear that the guards of the caravan were NOT going to win the fight. Several of them had fallen, and none of the party had. Their leader signaled a retreat, and, as Adykon had hoped, they ran in the direction opposite from the one the caravan had been originally moving.

Seeing his opportunity, Adykon gave the signal to run in the opposite direction, going further down the tunnel.

"Once we reach the end of the tunnel, we have to find a way out of the city, and then, to a place where we can get the amulet fixed or recharged or... just get OUT of here!" Adykon shouted.

Ilsa Turned and grabbed a bag of food from off one of the carts and tossed it to Marcus " Heres some food we can add to the stores, the royal family's not going to notice one missing bag' The sheer size of the  food stores dwarfed the supplies i  her castle..
Marcus caught it anbd began to run  down the hall, passing cart after cart. 'How long IS this caravan" He muttered as he kept on running down the pasageway, which snaked onward before him with no end in sight..

Adykon led the party down the tunnel... which kept going... and going... and going... after stopping to rest two more times, they finally saw a light at the end of it... and no guards, no monsters, nothing but some light. It was not sunlight, of course; simply a greater concentration of torchlight than they had in the tunnel.

minna and Ilsa were the first to reach to  end of the tunnel. in the distance , there were   some steps . 'I think we have reached the end of the tunnel.. lets see where these steps take us' Ilsa said, turning and waiting for the rest of the group to join them..
_
A place to sleep for the night would be grand' Marcus said, setting the bag of food down. he had been carrying it ever since Ilsa  tossed it to him..

Advancing carefully, the party game to a loading gate and an elevator which had to be operated by a larger crew than the party. Fortunately, there was a spiral staircase as well... a very long spiral staircase...

Eventually, the adventurers reached the top, and found themselves in a rather large granary... filled with all sorts of food... sheaves of wheat, bushels of corn, bales of hay, wheels of cheese, sides of beef, sacks of flour, and a copious amount of animals hanging upside-down, salted and ready for cooking. The stone walls and high ceiling told Adykon that they were in either a palace or a fort of some kind... or maybe both. That would make this place a castle. Hmm. Where to go now?

Akio nodded.
"What say you that we...help ourselves a little bit, hm?"
He said with a devilish smirk...

Kuja floated out of the tunnel behind the others.
"Impressive.  This much of a food supply...must belong to someone very important."
He stated, clearly awed...

"I agree with Kuja..." - Eriol said as he was also taking a close look at the place the party is in now. - "... and the only person in Hekaga that could afford to have this is the Prince."

Arianne shrugged - "If that is true, then I vote to leave this place as soon as we can, we haven't manage to get this far only to get this close to the only one we didn't want to get close to."

"Guys... it isn't the prince's palace." Rhiga told the rest. "His palace is in the city itself... I should know; I stole from it before. This is even worse. If we are caught in here, we won't answer to the prince... we'll have to answer to the king!"

And truth be told, there wasn't THAT much food here; not enough to feed Hekaga for long at all, and given how often caravans had to replenish the food supply, not enough for the palace for all that long either. The granary was only about a third full; they only filled it up to capacity in anticipation of a siege on the palace.

Eriol frowned as he replied. - "Well, I don't care who this place we are in belongs to, the thing is that we need to get out of here. I say it specially for you Rhiga."

Arianne went closer to Eriol. - "Please, try to relax Eriol. Even if you have a point and we are in danger, we need a plan to escape without drawing any more attention." - She was hoping a plan could come as fast as possible, the odds of them been captured or injured... or worse, grow bigger with each moment.

The party walked through the granary. It was eerily empty and quiet... devoid of life. Inside the castle, they could hear the sounds of a party... and a loud one at that. Hmm... they could escape the castle while the inhabitants were distracted! But how to get out...
