The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Eriol looked at the Dracons, he then said to Adykon. - "Well, Vespion's ability to create food is most useful, but if you have a couple of hours to spare, we may get some spare parts for weapons and maybe rations of our own."

He then stopped leaning against the wall, as he oftens do. - "I don't know a great deal of what is needed to know about magic, but I do know that every spell consumes energy, and since the group is big, we may do that to help Vespion a bit." - he then looked at the mage Dracon. - "But it is fine if you can handle that task with ease."

"Yeah, I'm pretty much realy to go" Kayla spoke up, granted, she didn't have much, but she was ready regardless in her mind anyway.

Farstriker glanced over to Kayla for a second before looking back to Adykon and gave him a nod "Yes, I too am ready, ready whenever you lot are ready to head off"

Ku'ux nodded as well to say that he was ready as well without actually saying a word, clutching onto his axe again, well, that is, until he spoke up "When do you plan on actually leaving the city? As if there is time before we go, perhaps we could meet at the entrance to the city, in case others wish to also do something else before then"

"Well, there's no exact timetable. I figure we have about 4-5 hours before we should be leaving. I'll be getting some new equipment from the castle armorer, and exchanging my old armor in for even better gear. I was advised that my armor didn't offer me the necessary level of protection for fighting Dememoras's elite legions, although, frankly, it is hard to see how any armor will ever provide total protection from those monsters, let alone the Dark Master himself."

Adykon's armor was very good by most standards, but he needed the best in order to take on the foes he would face.

"So, I take it that we'll meet back up by the gates or something like that?" Kayla asked with a little shrug.

"Seems like that's what's going to be happening, especially if we have that much time before we are to be leaving" Ku'ux added on, looking to Kayla.

"Well, I already have what I need, thanks to Adykon" Farstriker spoke as he was on about the arrows he was allowed to take from palace armoury "So, whenever you wish to head off, I shall meet you all by the gates"

Kayla thought for a moment "Um, Adykon, I need a small favour....I just need a weapon is all, most likely, a knife, or a small sword....nothing that big"

"Come with me, then, Kayla." And with that, the party split up for a few hours to find any last equipment, weapons, armor, or other supplies needed for the journey they were about the embark on. Vespion was walking with Adykon and Kayla as they headed back to the palace armory. Adykon would receive his armor there.

Vespion, by contrast, had everything he needed. The cleric sensed something about Kayla, a kind of magic about her that he could not quite place his finger on. He decided to ask her himself.

"Kayla? Excuse me. If you don't mind my asking, are you a mage? Are you related to one? I know you told us about your father..."

Kayla shook her head back "No, I'm not a mage or anything like that, my father is....well..." she paused for a moment as she looked to Vespion, not sure on if she should actually tell him what her father was actually like.

She looked on ahead at what was around them as she had more or less lingered away from what she was talking about, for the time being, wanting to stay quiet about it, unless of course, Vespion were to ask more about her father.

"He's a mage, isn't he? He wanted to do something to you, or maybe he already succeeded. Is that it?" Vespion's questioning was harsh, but in his view, necessary. After Violet and the fake "Arianne", there were too many possibilities for the party to be affected with infiltrators, curses, and traitors. The Dracon cleric had to make sure that another tragedy was not in the making.

Meanwhile, Rhiga went with Marcus to look for anything they might need for their journey. Selturma was still with Rex and his parents, along with Jake and Sasha.

Kayla was still quiet after Vespion spoke as she didn't really like talking much about her father, well, that was until she looked at him.  He looked to be a bit stern as well, as if he wanted an answer, one way or another as she sighed "Okay, here's the thing, my father likes to deal in dark magic and he used some of his dark magic on me....changed me when I didn't want anything to happen to me, he said something about it to do with the Dark Master"

She looked to her feet by that point, her mood wasn't all that happy now either "I just want to do something about this....I don't even know what to call it....but the reason I want to go back to my father is to actually confront him, you know, get him to remove this....thing from me....unless...." she looked to Vespion once again "Do you think you could help me out with it?"

"I honestly don't know if I can" Vespion replied. "I would need to know more about the curse, spell, enchantment, or whatever it is that afflicts you." The cleric looked ahead, towards Adykon. The warrior had not heard Kayla's conversation, or if he did, the gave no sign of hearing them. Perhaps he had grown used to this sort of thing, or maybe he truly didn't hear them.

"Of course, I would love to remove a curse from you; as a cleric, that is one of my many tasks. I can see that you are uncomfortable with the subject, but I must know this; what has the curse done to you? I cannot remove a curse without knowing what it does any more than I can offer a medicine without knowing what the disease is. We can worry about confronting your father later."

Kayla knew what people did to what kind she was, looking to Vespion as she did seem to trust him as well "Well, if you want to know...." she begun as she opened her mouth some and tapped on, what seemed to be fangs "I know people like to kill what I am...and I didn't even ask of it either...."

She gave off another little sigh as she was also, doing what she could to hold back the taste or even need, of blood at the moment, which did take some sort of affect on her "And, I do need a small favour too, which is....well, I don't want to have to actually ask you for it, but I do need it...it's well....blood..." she spoke, a little more quietly in case Adykon were to hear, as she wasn't sure on what he would do to her and for now, wanted to keep it between her and Vespion "I only ask for blood is because....it's part of my....I suppose you can call it a curse, cause I don't know what to call it myself...."

Vespion was shocked to hear it. Blood. She needed blood. That could mean several things, but odds are it only meant one thing...

"Vampire!"

Adykon had heard that alright, and he spun around to confront what he thought would be a dracon, much like Asthia was, and what Arcantas became. Having already faced two vampires before, the warrior was keen to look out for another He looked around only to find Vespion and Kayla.

"Vespion, where is it? You did say you saw a-"

"It's Kayla. Her father cursed her, but she doesn't seem to be manifesting any of the truly malignant qualities yet. Don't attack her, please."

Turning to the human girl, Vespion spoke kindly to her, not judging her for what her father had done to her... if that was indeed the case.

"Kayla, you need to listen to me. I have to know if your father did this to you against your will, or if you wanted this to happen. If your father did this to you without your true, total, and complete consent, you may yet be redeemed and cured. But if you wanted to become a vampire, then may the gods have mercy on your soul for rejecting the true life they gave you."

"What? No...I never wanted any of this! If I did want this, then I would not want to confront my father to get rid of this curse in the first place!" Kayla soon, stopped yelling, taking a few deep breaths as well as she looked to her hands.

"I never did want this in the first place, my father...he...he did this because he thought, from what I could tell at least, it would make me follow in his footsteps or something like that....I don't want that, I didn't ask him to do this to me....and I do want this gone from me....." Kayla's hands were shaking by that point as well as she looked to the ground and went quiet again, well, almost quiet anyway.

"I...I just want to be normal again...."

"So, your father is a vampire?" Adykon was surprised by this sudden revelation, but then, he thought that he shouldn't be. He had already gone to a lost series of ruins in the middle of nowhere, confronted at least two archmages, traveled to a valley at the end of the world, got dumped into a horrible city after a teleportation spell messed up, and fought off the first attack of an evil army which could end Dracon civilization as he knew it.

"Adykon! That isn't the issue right now" Vespion cared greatly that Kayla was cursed, and he would endeavor to cure her as soon as Aerta was saved. "Kayla, I'm going to get you some blood from the kitchen of the palace. As soon as we are there, you come with me. Adykon can get his new armor and weapons while we discuss this matter further. Do you understand?"

"Well, not exactly, I actually don't know if he is actually a vampire himself or not, all I know is it's the dark arts he likes" Kayla however, was a bit more quieter than usual as she eyed Adykon some, not quiet trusting him as she stayed with Vespion for the time being.

She looked at her hands, which were still shaking, she did indeed, need blood, but she did her best to keep the need under control, unless she actually needed it, but of course, she wasn't about to attack anyone for the blood, she would rather get it from some meet that were clooking, something that had already died.

Kayla however, just gave a nod to Vespion with what he had offered her "Sorry about this....I didn't mean to, well, worry anyone....it's just that I know what people do to vampires and I didn't want to die before I got rid of this curse of mine....but he ruined my life....he just ruined it....without a care at all....but yeah, I understand with what you're talking about....we can discuss it some more, I don't want to keep you in the dark about it at least anyway"

The three of them were silent for the next fifteen minutes as they approached the palace gates. Once inside, Adykon left Vespion and Kayla to go to the armory; the cleric and vampire girl headed down to the mess hall, where they could probably find some blood.

"Kayla, what kind of blood do you need to eat, if any? I'm sure we can get cow's blood, but if you need some from a... sentient... we are totally out of luck. I cannot and will not harm a dracon or a human, even for the sake of feeding you."

"That's actually the kind of blood I've had, animal blood, like cows blood....that will do" Kayla of course, was still acting a bit quieter than usual now, not really liking having to ask someone to get her blood as she continued to look to the floor some more.

She waited for Vespion to go and get the cows blood for her as she just stood there.  For her, it was rather hard to get a proper plan together on how to deal with her father, as inside her, she was still scared of her father, as if he could do this to her, she hated to think what else he could do to her, but she did want something to do be done about the curse, to get rid of it, somehow.

Speaking with Vespion wasn't really her actual plan, then again, she never really had a proper plan to begin with on how to get rid of the curse, but she was rather glad she spoke to Vespion first instead of Adykon, she just hoped that he would be able to get rid of it for her.

Adykon proceeded down the long hall to the armory. He had been there so often, he was like a tenant there. How many times had he come to get new armor and weapons? In any event, the only Dracon currently in the vast room was one that he never recognized, a green male who was busy moving a stack of swords.

"Ah, you must be Adykon. I'm Ivan, the ah... replacement. The usual armorer isn't here today, but he left instructions for me to give a suit of armor to one Adykon."

"How do you know it is really me? Are you sure you aren't giving away an expensive piece of equipment to an imposter?"

"I..uh... er... this is so embarassing." With that, "Ivan" disappeared in a flash of white light, and was replaced by the form of Kluthu, the archmage of the palace, and the magical advisor to Minbenthac's king.

"Alright, the king told me to meet you here and to give you the new suit of armor. It's magical, you know. Made from the hardest adamantine the city has to offer, and forged by the finest smiths. Since it is a magical suit of armor, there are some features that I ought to tell you about. This is why they sent me to do it. I only wish that I didn't have to. It is unbecoming of a mage of my power to be seen hanging around an armory, hence the disguise."

Meanwhile...

"Alright, Kayla. I went into the kitchen and retrieved this for you." Producing a large tin cup full of cow's blood, the cleric was uneasy at what he was offering the girl. Still not quite believing what he was doing, he held out the vessel, hoping she would drink from it quickly.

Kayla looked at the cup for a second and took it, her hands were still shaking as at first, she slowly started to drink from it before sculling it down and placing the now empty cup, onto a table as she wiped some blood from her mouth "Thanks" she spoke, giving off a small smile, her hands, no longer shaking either.

She was rather happy that it was cows blood too, especially since she had never had human blood before, and just the thought of drinking the blood of a human, or dracon or anything like that would be just wrong in her view as well.  To her, drinking the blood of a cow was the better option, since they did get cooked up for food in the end "Sorry I had to ask that too...."

"Never mind that. Now, Kayla, are there any other 'surprising' things you want to tell me about yourself? It is best to deal with these unpleasant revelations now, in a controlled environment, then to suddenly be told about them in the middle of a battle." Vespion was right to be careful.

Meanwhile...

"So, what does this armor do that's so 'magic'?" Adykon was about to find out. He looked on the table where it was placed...

(OOC: I might try to draw this armor, actually.)

"Well...." Kayla begun as she sat down on a nearby seat "Not really, I mean, you know that I need blood from time to time, which I would rather it be from an animal like a cow, or a rabbit or something like that, I wouldn't be able to come to grips with drinking the blood of something like a human, or a dracon...but other than that, nothing else really, you can see that I can walk in the sunlight, which is odd, from what i've ready, well, heard about anyway that vampires can't walk in sunlight"

She paused for a moment or so with a small sigh as well "Other than that, nothing that comes to my mind anyway....unless you have any other questions, I mean, I can answer what questions you actually need answering to the best of my ability...."
