"ummm......that was fast?" commented Exodar "it was instant? straight from there to here?.....in an instant, cool!"

"yeah, teleportation spells tend to do just that" said Jake to Exodar

"so, what now?" asked Rex "go home and rest maybe?"

"Aerta! You did it! But now, we must return to the palace. Are you alright? That teleportation took a lot out of you."

"I am... fine for now, Adykon. Let's just go."

After a while, the party moved through the gates of the massive city, and then,into the palace. For once, their trip passed without incident, and in about an hour, they were standing inside of the palace courtyard.

For a moment, Burdock remembered what he had to do.

"Ok, I'm very thankful for your service, but I must leave." Burdock stated, as he got up and off the table.

"Alright. Feel free to stop by anytime, handsome." Aurora told him, adding a wink. "I hope you liked that."

"Thank you. I won't forget you, m'am. I'll be around again." Burdock said.

With that, burdock walked out of the room, and made his way out of the bar. He stood outside pulled a piece of paper out of the pocket of his shorts and looked at it. Good thing this bar is near by. He walked to his destination, and saw two guards standing outside.

"I am here for Adykon's party."

Upon hearing that the guards let him though, and he carried he backback of equipment with him.

One of the guards looked a bit quizzically at the lapine. "You know, the king is only letting people in so freely because we need anyone we can find to assist Adykon. This isn't a 'fun' party, but a mission which could very well end up killing you in a fight against Dememoras."

"I don't think he heard you."

"Ah, forget it. Adykon can deal with him."

Adykon and the others had arrived at the palace, only to find several individuals offering to join in the "suicidal" endeavor. Adykon had to gently dismiss most of the crowd, due to obvious lack of ability or competence. He looked up to see a shirtless rabbit-man approaching him.

"Aerta? Do you recognize this newcomer?" Adykon asked the archmage.

"He's a lapine. I've heard that they are good fighters, despite being related to harmless rabbits."

well we do need all the help we can get " Margas said, eating a bunch of grapes he had plucked from the royal tables " Have you foought in battle before, Lapine/' he asked giving Burdock a searching glance..
_ Are we going back into battle so soon Adykon?" Ilsa asked from a chair ' we do need to rest and regroup, at least."

Burdock just stood where he was. It looked like this team was already skeptical.

"I used to be a town guard. But I guess that's babysitting compared to this job." He responded to the member.

"That's good. You look strong enough to make it. Are you sure you want to come along? You can join, but I have to ask: you DO know what we are up against, right? The risks are great." Adykon was willing to let Burdock in, as were the others.

"I would slam my head on a wall if you paid me," Burdock joked "But please, refresh my mind of our typical assailants."

"Formal, aren't we?" Aerta replied. "We're going up against Dememoras and his forces. If you don't already know, he is the so-called emperor and "god" of all Dracons. We stopped him millennia ago, but he is back."

"We've had to fight dracons, kobolds, golems, and even dragons... and so much else! Still, You are probably strong enough to survive." Adykon continued.

"All costs are paid for by the king of Minbenthac, as is food, water, and shelter." Rhiga added.

"I welcome you, but... be careful. This adventure is not for the weak-minded, or weak-willed. Anything can happen." Vespion told Burdock this as his thoughts reflected back to Typhon and the revelation that Dememoras was a distant ancestor of both of them.

"That sounds typical of an average deity." Burdock replied. "Our kind don't have to worry about any of that, fortunately. I've never fought a giant hostile creature before, but if it's living then we can kill it."

"Well, Dememoras is actually... er... undead." It was Rhiga who said it. No one else wanted to reveal that unfortunate truth.

"It doesn't matter. We can still stop him. Are you with us?" Adykon wasn't dissuaded, and neither were the others.

"Yes. Do you have any armor? You will need good protection and armament if you are going to make it. If you don't have any, we can get you some at the palace armorer." Adykon replied.

"Well," Burdock said as lifted his backpack down and into his hand "I have leather armor here in my backpack, and as you can see--"

Burdock unstrapped the sheathed sword and shield from his backpack

"I have my offensive weapons here."

"Very good. Just, ah... you might want to put a shirt on when we go into the throne room. Your kind uses those, right? We might see the king later today, and update him on recent events" Vespion told Burdock.

Burdock looked down at himself

"Oh! I almost forgot I didn't have one on."

Burdock went to open up his backpack to find his shirt, then put it on.
