The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

A new world...Same old faces

Drake approached Zaine "These flowers, they grow near the top of the fire mountain, that's where I believe my daughter's heading to, I myself would go, but it's best that I too watch over Longtail here" he told Zaine before giving him a nod and walking back over to Longtail.

***

Luna, on the other hand, was heading towards the top of the volcano, as she indeed, did want to go and retrieve the flowers for Longtail.

Longtail groaned aloud and cried out, "Zaine!!!" He then began speaking in ancient sharptooth "Shhh rai mo tai kai Huntess do rel mei lok."

Cyrix then stepped up to Littlefoot but stayed silent, not sure what to say.

Pearl heard Longtail speaking and asked aloud "What did he just say?"

Before Zaine could leave, he was caught off guard by Longtail's cry. He looked back confused, but most of all worried. He had never heard that language before, but whatever it was it sounded like Longtail wanted to tell him something. He turned back and approached Longtail. He knelt down and lowered his head to him. He gently nuzzled him in an attempt to comfort him. "I'm here Longtail. I'm here for you like I always have been." He glanced over to Hunter. "Any chance you understood what he said?"

Littlefoot sighed. "Maybe I should go instead. Zaine, you need to stay here. Longtail will need you." Littlefoot looked over towards Ali. "I'll be back soon. I promise." He nuzzled her cheek and then glanced towards Cera. "Keep them safe okay?" He then headed to the cave entrance. Those flowers helped my Grandpa when he was sick. Maybe they will help Longtail too.

"Well, if you are going, I shall say to you, what I said to Zaine over there, and that is to be careful, I can not stress enough how I would hate that if something bad were to happen to you, that it will fall on my shoulders, I do not need your parents getting on my nerves about it" Drake told Littlefoot with a bit of a nod as well.

Littlefoot sighed. "Well you don't have to worry about that. Both my parents are dead." He nodded back. "But I will be careful, and I will bring your daughter back. Thank you again." Littlefoot left the cave and headed towards the area where he knew he would find Drake's daughter and the flowers.

"Please be careful" Ali called after the long neck.

"Ya, ya, ya.  Kill sharpteeth, save the world, the usual three horn things.  I think I can handle it Littlefoot"  Cera answered sarcastically.

Luna was near the top of the volcano by that point, yet, the volcano itself was smoking quite a bit as she coughed a bit from the smoke getting in her face, however, she just didn't want to give up "No one wants to help him out....they seem to want to argue, I just can't stand him being hurt like that" she just muttered to herself.

Hunter was going to respond to Zaine's question about hearing what Longtail had said, but someone beat her to it.

"Daddy say longneck brother stay, let Granny Hunty do what she do." said Sol with a childlike laugh still in her mothers arms.

Hunter's jaw dropped as she heard the hatchling translate what her father had said.
"....How...did she...nevermind. Although Sol is right, I can track down both Luna and those flowers faster than you or Littlefoot can. Let me follow him and I promise I'll be back as quickly as I can." she said to Zaine.

Longtail smiled at his hatchling although he still kept his eyes closed.

Pearl was stunned as well. To hear her hatchling translate an all but dead language was impressive to say the least. The fact that she'd only begun to speak at all within  the last two weeks was amazing.

Ruby chuckled at Cera and gently nudged the threehorn with her elbow.
"Being a bit brazen aren't you?" she asked with a friendly gleam in her eye.

Zaine was taken back. Even after what had happened Longtail was still willing to call him his brother. Maybe he forgave me for everything?. Zaine nodded. "Ok Hunter. Littlefoot's not too far out. Just tell him to come back here. We will need him here too."

"Don't worry," Littlefoot chuckled. He had overheard Hunter and decided to come back instead. "If Hunter can bring Drake's daughter and the flowers back, then let her go."

Zaine looked back down at Longtail. "Longtail, I'm so sorry, for everything."

Littlefoot noticed Sweetie was being awfully quiet. "Are you all right?" he asked.

Hunter smiled as she stepped outside and sniffed the air until she caught Luna's scent. "Alright boys, I'll be back as soon as I can." she said as she took off like a shot running towards the mountain Luna was searching. "I just hope I'm not too late to help." she said aloud to herself.

Longtail wanted to say more to Zaine but all that came out was a low painful growl as he opened his eyes weakly and looked around.

Pearl stepped next to Longtail and whispered, "You need to relax...and calm down. Rest and let your body heal. Please."

Sweetie was crying as she looked up at Littlefoot.
"Longtail called Zaine his brother....even after all they've just been through. Family still means more to Longtail than I thought...it's so heartwarming."

Cyrix finally pulled himself away from the wall and walked over to Littlefoot and sighed as he was now shaking with nervousness. "L-Littlefoot....I'm sorry....for what I said before. I was wrong...and if my time in the valley has shown me anything it is that you and the others may be younger but are far wiser than I can ever hope to be. And...and I hope when the time comes I know you will make an exceptional father."

Littlefoot nodded.  "That's a relief. For a second there it seemed like Longtail was going to disown Zaine as a friend and brother for good. It's really nice to see them so close to each other." He looked at Sweetie and smiled. "When you think about it, Longtail is the family that Zaine lost when he was a hatchling. Maybe the same could be said about you."

When Cyrix stepped forward, Littlefoot wanted to not look at him. Then Cyrix apologized, and Littlefoot sighed. "Look Cyrix, I may not have children of my own, so I would not know what you are dealing with. That being said, I do know the difference between something that needs to be done and something that crosses the line. I'm sorry, but your original plan was crossing the line." Littlefoot calmed himself down to keep from yelling. "That doesn't matter anymore. What matters is that we have to stay strong as a herd. If we are backstabbing each other then what's the point of sticking together?" He sighed as he tried his best to sound like his Grandpa, who always had the best advice. "I accept your apology, and I know you only wanted what was best for Longtail. Just please next time think of something that doesn't involve his hatchlings? If anything were to happen to them, Longtail and Pearl would never be the same."

Meanwhile, Zaine was trying to think of some way to help Longtail feel less pain, but everything he thought of wouldn't work. "I really hope these flowers come soon. I don't want Longtail to have to endure any more of this pain." He finally thought of something that seemed like a good idea. He leaned his head down next to Longtail and began to softly retell one of their past adventures together. "Remember when the Stone of Cold Fire was found, except those two egg eaters got to it first and enslaved the Great Valley? I couldn't have fought them alone, but I didn't. You were there with me, every step of the way. Even after they kidnapped you and then tried to kill me, you never abandoned me. You and I together destroyed the stone and saved everybody. Then we got rid of the egg eaters for good. Remember that Longtail? You and I together saved the Great Valley. I couldn't have done it without you." Zaine smiled as a tear slowly dropped from his eye. "That's how much you mean to me Longtail."

Cera was starting to get sick from the emotions running around her, finally she had enough.  "Okay, okay, everybody good now?  'Cause in case you have all forgotten the world has ended.  We need to figure out what we're going to do once Longtail is back up on his paws".

Longtail closed his eyes and shed a tear at the memory. He then began to laugh even though it still caused him a great deal of pain.

Sweetie looked up at Littlefoot and then again over to Zaine and Longtail. "Perhaps you're right Littlefoot. Thanks for the talk." She then stepped over to Zaine and nuzzled his leg gently.

Cyrix smiled lightly at Littlefoot and replied, "If it's any consolation Pearl would've been in on the scheme...although I doubt she'd keep quiet for long. But you are right, we need to stick together as a herd to survive. And that is why I know you are the right longneck to lead this herd as I always knew you would be."

Ruby stepped forward and replied, "Cera is right. We need to keep thinking about what to do once it's safe to leave."

~~~
Hunter reached the edge of the Smoking  mountain and began to climb at an incredible rate.
"Luna!" She cried as she reached the top. "This is either the bravest or stupidest thing you've done. I understand you want to help, but this isn't the safest way to do it." she sighed quietly and then asked, "Did you at least find the flowers for Longtail?"
"I'm sorry" Luna replied with a bit of a frown "But it's just that I did want to try and help out, I just didn't want to see Longtail all hurt like that, but I haven't found the flowers just yet, but my dad said this was the only place the flowers grow...."
Petrie had to smile at the odd sort of perspective Cera had at times to get to the heart of a matter...yet always in her own way.
"Still, I think of Longtail and Zain can survive this, our herd will be good no matter what issues arise" Kit commented to her cousin, knowing the gist of what he was thinking.
Pip smiled over at Dinah as she continued to pout, "It would have been unsafe of us to go anyway" he said.
Dinah sighed, "Cera, Petrie and the others always got away with it, why didn't it work for us too" she wondered.
"Cyrix wasn't arguing and noticed us sneak off" Pip answered the rhetorical question.
"What's that..." Kit turned to the two pre-teens, hearing her brother's last statement. Pip grinned, "N-nothing".
Zaine nuzzled Longtail's body again, trying to do anything he could think of to help him feel better. "I'm never going to abandon you Longtail. You are my best friend and brother. Nothing will change that." Zaine then felt the warmth on his leg. He looked down at Sweetie and smiled again. "Sweetie, thank you for everything. I never told anybody about my past because I was too afraid to think about it. I'm glad I have somebody who I can talk to about these things." He then nuzzled Sweetie's face and closed his eyes as he whispered "I love you so much".
Littlefoot sighed after Cyrix's comment. "I'm glad one of us thinks so." He looked at everybody huddled around in the cave, and then looked back outside. "I'm trying as hard as I can to remember everything my grandpa told me, but it's still so hard. Whenever I needed help, I could always turn to him." A small tear slowly dropped from his eye. "Now that he's gone, I don't know if I'm doing the right thing. I want us to survive, but what if I mess up? What if I get us all killed?"
Upon hearing what Littlefoot said and seeing him cry, Ducky quickly stepped over to him and gently rested her hand on his shoulder.
"Littlefoot, I do not think you will get us killed, no no no.  You have led us out of danger on our many adventures, and this one is no exception.  I will only speak for myself when I say that you are my friend and I trust your judgment, yep yep yep."
"You're my friend, too," Spike added as he, Renn, and Aurelia slowly approached the two.  "What Ducky said is right.  I know you'll lead us to safety.  It's always been in you."  Renn and Aurelia remained silent as they watched the trio of friends since hatchlinghood converse.
Cyrix stepped forward.
"Littlefoot listen to me. Your friends trust your judgement, I trust your judgement, and should anything go wrong, we will always be here to help you, and support you when you need it. And as for someone to talk to...you always have your mate Ali." he said with a sly smile.
Sweetie licked Zaine across the cheek and climbed up on his head. She then replied, "I love you too Zaine. And I want to thank you, for giving me the family I lost when I was a hatchling." Sweetie then turned to face Longtail whom still lay on the ground. "And thank you Longtail...for teaching me the lessons I needed to get this far."
Pearl was still sitting by Longtail's side, and smiled at Sweeties words.
"That is very kind of you." she replied with a smile.
Azure had yet to physically let go of Twiz still wanting to hold her mate close to make sure nothing bad happened to either of them. "I wonder what will happen if we don't get out of here?" she asked quietly.
Longtail wiggled across the ground as if trying to move from his position on his back, even though it kept causing him incredible pain. He was gritting his teeth and growling as he continued shifting his weight on his back.
~~~

Hunter sighed as she began looking around for the flowers. She sniffed the ground several times, and even through the smoke and dirt she picked up a faintly sweet scent. She then stepped over to the very edge of the smoking mountain, and smiled brightly as she called out, "LUNA!!! OVER HERE!"

Luna rushed over to Hunter and looked over to where the flowers were "You found them, but um, how do we get to them?" she asked.

She saw that the flowers were pretty much in the crater of the volcano itself to which she gave off a gulp, giving off a rather faint smile as well.  She was indeed, rather scared right now.

Cera gritted her teeth and said, "I trust you too Littlefoot".  "I guess I really don't have a choice, you're like a brother to me," she added.

Ali blushed at Cyrix's comment.
