A new world...Same old faces

Luna was watching on, too scared to even move, well, mostly, she was very, very slowly moving backwards, watching what was happening to Zaine in horror herself. She wanted to run, but she also wanted to help Zaine out as well, watching between him and the Sharpteeth before it happened, she let off some sort of growl, the same sort of growl the Sharpteeth used to communicate as they looked over at Luna.

Luna was still hessiating as she growled some, as if she was actually communicating with them. Well, she was a Velociraptor after all, having more of a bilingual(sp?) language, something she hadn't told anyone else about.

The Sharpteeth in question growled some back at her as the two of them looked towards Zaine as Luna shook her head. One of the Sharpteeth growled at Luna, to which Luna gave off some sort of growl back, tears were in her eyes as well.

She was indeed, trying to convince the Sharpteeth not to kill Zaine but was instead, trying to convince them to kill herself instead and leave Zaine and the others alone, yet, that was taking quiet some time to do, the Sharpteeth being quiet persistant to argue their point while Luna just wasn't going to take no for an answer herself....the argument at the moment, was just going nowhere.

In the time it took for Luna to distract the sharpteeth from attacking, another figure jumped into the fight as Hunter landed on the sharptooths back and began to bite and scratch drawing blood. However the sharptooth was smart enough to throw Hunter from it's back and began to step towards her.

As the sharptooth was about to bite down into Hunters body however...an ear shattering screech filled the air from the open end of the cave. Standing at the mouth of the cave was none other than Longtail. Despite the fact that he could barely walk...he had a defiant almost suicidal look in his eyes. He then took two steps forward and began to speak in sharptooth warning them that if they stepped near anyone of his friends, he'd be forced to step in and kill them all.

Luna looked over to Longtail and over to Hunter as well, shaking her head some as well "No....don't hurt them!" she called out to the Sharpteeth "Please don't...." she sniffled as she continued to speak Sharptooth still.

However, she was too scared to actually attack, that, and she was never a good fighter herself as she stepped forward some, shaking a little bit. However, her words were no longer having an effect on the Sharpteeth as they were too busy concerned with both Hunter and Longtail.

For a moment, the sharpteeth seemed to be preoccupied after Hunter attacked. The one attacking Zaine released him and turned its attention to Hunter. Then, when Longtail intervened, it seemed like their attention shifted again. The flyer was smaller than them, but he was a heck of a lot more intimidating. They slowly backed off and started to flee, but not before taking one last attack at Luna. With every ounce of strength in his body, Zaine body slammed the attacking sharptooth, sending him to the ground. "Get lost!" The sharptooth got back up and fled with the others. Zaine unfortunately stumbled to the ground in deep pain. The sharptooth had left quite a gash on his back.

Littlefoot finally brought up the strength to run outside to his friend. "Zaine! What the heck were you thinking?"

"I told you," Zaine replied. "I never think about it."

As the Sharptooth came in to attack, Luna cowered some as she placed her claws over her eyes, wimpering a bit as well, unaware with what else had happened, not even aware that Zaine had scared off the Sharpteeth.

She kept her eyes closed for a bit longer before peeking out between her claws at what had happened, her heart was racing having been scared quiet a bt as she gulped a bit as well, trying to calm her own breathing as well.

Soon, she looked over and saw Zaine in pain "Are....are....are you okay?" she asked him, more or less worried about him, even though she was still a bit shaky from what had just happened, however, she seemed to care more for Zaine than herself, something she would usually do, put the wellbeing of others before her own wellbeing.

Zaine was now on lying on his side, but he looked up at Luna. "Don't worry about me. I'm just glad the sharpteeth didn't get to you." He tried to stand up, unfortunately his wounds prevented him from doing so. "Well, this is a fine deal I've gotten myself into isn't it?" He laughed a bit, but he couldn't deny that he was in great pain.

Littlefoot shook his head. "This is my fault. I should have done something to help."

"Don't blame yourself," Zaine encouraged. "You had to protect the others, and they are safe."

"But I could have helped you," Littlefoot complained. "I could have done something, so this wouldn't have happened to you."

"It was my choice," Zaine assured him.

Luna shook her head some "If it's anyone's fault, it's mine....I should've done more to help out, but I was just too scared to" she spoke up again, but a little quietly "If I could've persuaded the Sharpteeth some more, you wouldn't have gotten hurt, but I failed at it and because of me, you got hurt and I'm sorry...."

She looked at Littlefoot for a moment before looking back to Zaine, give off a small sigh as well "I didn't mean to let you get hurt...." she was indeed, more or less repeating herself without really knowing it either as she looked at her claws, taping two of them together "Maybe....I'll leave you alone for now...." she added on, stepping back some at that point, already believing that she had indeed, done something wrong, that it was her fault, turning around and walking away some distance from them before sitting down on a rock by herself.

Hunter stepped over to Zaine and gently placed a paw on his cheek. "Just tell us you're going to be okay." she said with concern in her voice.

Ruby blinked her eyes open suddenly aware that something was wrong...there was too much tension in the air. She stood up and looked around for a moment and noticed that Littlefoot and Zaine were outside. She walked out to see what was wrong, only to almost trip over Longtail who was now on his belly, eyes half closed and his breathing heavy. "Longtail...are you alright?" she questioned.

Longtail knew that moving was still a bad idea, but after scaring off the sharpteeth, his body had gone cold and limp, and now moving seemed impossible. But his need to make sure Zaine was alright compelled him to try and keep moving. Sadly the only movement Longtail was able to do was tap his tail against the ground. "Zaine....y-you'd better be alright!" he called out as loud as he could.

Zaine looked up at Hunter. "I don't know...... I'm not sure I can stand." Zaine heard Longtail's call, and he really wanted to stand, but his body wouldn't let him. "Longtail, please don't stress your body anymore than you have to. You haven't fully recovered yet." Wow, that sharptooth got me pretty good. I don't know if I can stand up. Am........ Am I dying? At first, the thought hadn't crossed his mind, but the more he thought about it the more he came to realize the possibility. So this is how it ends for me.

"You'll be okay." Littlefoot said in an attempt to comfort Zaine. "You have to."

"Littlefoot," Zaine replied, "the herd is more important than I am. You have to worry about them now."

"Don't say that!" Littlefoot argued. "Don't say something like that."

Luna just sat all alone on the rock "I just failed....failed to protect them....some friend I am..." she sniffled to herself before standing up with a sigh, glancing over to everyone else in the distance as she had gone a few feet away from them by that point.

She looked at the ground next, sniffling some as she looked down to one of her claws, she was injured a little bit from one of the Sharpteeth that had attacked, but she thought nothing of it as she was more worried about Zaine than anything else, putting him before herself of course.

Her injury wasn't that much, it did sting some, clutching it a little bit as well, but did not want to approach them again as she also did not want to worry them about her being hurt as well.

Longtail against his own judgement and Zaines' forced himself up onto his feet and stepped over to Zaine with a painful grunt with every step. "Z-zaine...You...are a part...of this herd..." He then took a shallow breath as he continued. "And....that means...you're going to survive."

Hunter admired Longtail's determination, but she'd seen wounds like this before...and while some dinosaurs survived....most didn't. She shed several tears as she looked Zaine in the eye, "Just...rest and conserve your strength. You'll need it for when we get to our new home."

Ruby had taken the liberty to step back into the cave and quietly mourn Zaine's wounds not wanting to crowd the longneck.

Sweetie was now just opening her eyes...and once she realized what she was seeing she gave a heart wrenching scream. "ZAINE NO!!!!" She was at his side almost instantly, gently nuzzling his head.

Renn jerked awake when he heard Sweetie's scream. Unfortunately, as part of being startled, he forgot about a built-in ledge in the cave wall that was low to the ground and above his head. CRACK!

"Aw, son of a buzzing stinger," he growled sleepily as he reached up and rubbed the top of his head. He was seeing stars.

"Honey, what's wrong?" Ducky groaned as she slowly stirred awake. Renn glared up at the ledge in an angry manner before his expression softened as he looked at Ducky.

"Nothing much. I thought I heard Sweetie scream outside the cave," Renn replied.

"I thought I did, too," Aurelia spoke up as she rose to her feet and stretched out. Spike followed her lead.

"So, it wasn't a sleepstory. A'ight, let's go see if she's okay," Renn replied. The trio followed his lead out of the cave entrance.

The cut on her hand area was deep, however, it wasn't bleeding that badly either, at the moment, it was just dry, not bleeding as much as she clutched it with her other hand as she looked over to the others. Luna did not want to head over there at the moment as she couldn't really handle what had happened herself, it seemed a bit much for her, a Sharptooth attack and someone who was also dying.

She just kept her distance as well as trying to stay out of sight for the time being, allowing everyone else to worry about Zaine, allowing him to be with his friends. She winced some from the stinging pain in her hand, but still did what she could to ignore it for the time being, taking a quick look at it as she saw her unharmed hand now having some blood on it from covering her wound. She sighed as she covered it again as she knew it wasn't from the Sharpteeth themselves, but from striking her hand on a sharp rock which caused the cut.

Drake stood at the entrance of his cave as he had watched the whole scene unfold with the Sharptooth attack, however, he didn't have time to do anything since as soon as it had started, it was over. He looked at Zaine and shook his head some, knowing that Zaine would not make it by the time he would gather the neseccary items to help him out.

(OOC: I would imagine that's what a Velociraptor has, hands more than claws, since claws would really mean their fingers in general, so if I use hands, you'll know what I'm refeering to, just a head up

)

Zaine sighed when Sweetie realized what had happen to him. I was hoping she wouldn't have to see me like this. "Sweetie, I'm sorry. I had to do something........ or Luna would have been killed." Zaine looked back at Luna. "None of this is your fault, Luna.......... Don't ever blame yourself for this. This........ was my choice."

Littlefoot realized by now probably the same thing Hunter was thinking. This was the same exact way my mother died. Does this mean that Zaine's going to die? But he can't! He just can't die! "Please, Zaine. You have to recover. You just have to!"

Luna was standing not too far from them, but still keeping her distance as she spoke whilst still covering her wound as to not let others know about it "But I could've....stopped the Sharpteeth.....but I couldn't....I failed at it....and I'm sorry Zaine.....I didn't mean to fail....." she spoke, sniffling some, still believing it was her fault and not Zaine's fault.

Cera slowly walked over, she had been too slow to make it to the battle in time. As she saw the scene in front of her she felt as if a boulder had slammed into her chest. The realization that Zaine might be dying was too much. She simply stood there in shock.

Ali slowly woke up, wondering what all the commotion was about.

Hunter couldn't be near Zaine anymore...not from fear of seeing him die...but knowing that there was nothing she could do. She stepped over to Luna and asked in a shaky almost lost voice: "Can...can I look at your hand....I...I want to make sure it's...okay."

Sweetie wanted to cry...she wanted to with all her heart but she just couldn't bring herself to shed any tears. She licked Zaine's head gently several times and then hugged him. "I...I...I don't want to lose you....p-please...just stay with us."

Longtail wasn't sure he could feel anything at the moment...even his own heartbeat seemed to have just stopped. He couldn't hear, he couldn't breath...almost as if doing so would break his heart in two.

As Petrie, Azure and Twiz awoke they too realized something was wrong. They flapped out and realized the scene in front of them was overwhelming.

"No....w-what happened?" asked Azure with tears in her eyes.

Petrie was saddened as well at the sight of Zaine so badly wounded.

"My hand's okay...." Luna replied back, yet, didn't show Hunter the wound, still keeping it covered with her other hand as she did not want Hunter worrying about her, since there was still Zaine to worry about and that was enough as it was "Nothing's.....wrong with it...." she added on as she immediatly changed the subject to something else.

"I mean....Zaine's hurt....and it's all my fault because of it...." she decided to say, of course, still believing in what she had said, sniffling some as well, stepping back a little bit as well, turning around and took a quick look at her wound in the process, her free hand now had a fair amount of blood on it on the palm of her hand as she covered it again.

Zaine sighed again. The pain was growing, and he was starting to fade away. "I'm never going to leave you............. I'll always been with you in your heart.............I didn't want you to see me......... like this Sweetie.............. I need you to.......... take care of Longtail............... Please make sure he gets through this all right............... I love you.........." He then looked at Cera. "Help Littlefoot take care of............ the herd............ Keep them safe............." He then looked at Littlefoot. "Get them to a safe home............... You're a born leader............. I know you can lead this herd..........." He finally looked at Longtail. "Longtail............. I know you can here me........... You and I have been brothers for........... too long for me to remember................ thank you for everything................ I know you will be strong enough.............. to find a better home............... Do it for both of us.............."

"Stop talking like this!" Littlefoot interrupted. "You are not going to die! You are too strong to quit on us now! Don't you dare think about starting now."

Renn's group had stepped oer next to Cera, and they simply stared in shock and disbelief at the scene before them.
