Matsu leaped from his tree and began his scouting duties when he got word from a small flock of birds. Blood stains the grounds to the west...

Matsu sniffed around, but the rain had covered the scent of the killers. There's no way of telling where they came from and how many of them were there...

Soon, the African Wild Dogs that have helped the others the day before arrived. They had found more bodies further south.

"It seems perfect," said Zulu, one of the pack's lead hunters, "for them to strike during the night of the storm."

"And no one saw them strike..." Matsu agreed.

Zande, a young but experienced hunter, spoke up. "The only pattern I see here is that the murders took place in the western part of the kingdom."

"Which I also find strange, since the Elephant Graveyard, where we first fought them, is to the east."

"You think they moved to the other side to attack?" Zulu asked.

"Around the Pride Lands in less than half a day without being seen? Not without black magic..."

Zazu struggled through the rain as he too reached the horrific scene. "Good heavens!" he gasped after he landed near Matsu. "I only heard of what those ruffians did to Their Royal Majesties in the Elephant Graveyard, but to actually see this in our lands..."

"You must inform the King at once," Matsu ordered. "Tell him the killings have been on the entire western edge of the kingdom. They've been using the storm to destroy our scouts, and the storm will be the same tonight. Now hurry!"

"Post haste!" Zazu immediately returned to the air for Pride Rock.

"So what now?" Zulu asked.

"We wait for news from the King," Matsu answered. "Personally, I'd say we have to move from the borders further inside the kingdom. It would force them to expose themselves to greater numbers. Unless..."

"Unless they wanted us to do so they could corner us all in an all out assault," Ngombe, an older hunter, replied.

Zande cocked an eyebrow. "I doubt they even have the numbers to succeed in that plan."

"I agree," Zulu responded. "No groups of black jaguars have ever been large enough to do anything other than this sort of killing. However..."

Matsu nodded. "The party that ambushed us was indeed larger than normal. They may have a new leader that's uniting them all against the Pridelands..."

Kopa stopped as Zazu landed in front of him at Pride rock ' whats up Zazu? he said with a smile, but that smile faded as he saw the look on Zazu's face.

Zazu gave a low bow when he landed in front of Kopa. "Forgive me, Sire," he replied, "but I bring bad news from the western border. Many of our scouts were killed during the night. The black jaguars may be to blame for the attacks."

Great just great.. my father will have a fit when he learns about this.. Kopa frowned. " How many are dead Zazu?" the thought of the jaguars crossed hisa mind.. " It was probably the same jaguars we ran into in the Graveyard" He muttered " but they must be following someone else..

we'll have to double, if not triple the guard. our defenses are now exposed to any invader not just the jaguars.. and i fear they will attempt another attack soon.. hmm.. why not post.. elephants on the border? sure they're not as fast as cheetahs or leopards, but due top thier sheer size, they'll be able to fight off an assassin much better..

kopa took a seat on the front rock and sighed as he lookd over what was soon to be his kingdom.. he had to stop the invasion, or his niece and nephew would never live to be born, and he would be forced into exile again, if he even survived. that is..
