While the lions spoke, Matsu caught a glimpse of black in contrast to the golden grass suddenly dart from near the other side of the watering hole, where the cubs were near. "Panthers?" he thought aloud and darted from the group after the scent.
"A leopard is behind us," one panther inquired as they ran.
"He's only one," replied the other. "Split up and lose him!"
As that's said they moved in a wide V and disappeared from sight. Matsu cursed as he screeched to a halt where the invaders forked. If he wants to continue, he must make a choice quickly, but a glance behind him showed he was alone, and there may be more out there...
