The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Hotmail's Junk Filter is HORRIBLE!

Today when I woke up I checked my e-mail accounts like I do every day, and when I went to check my Hotmail account, I found that I have 65 pieces of Junk Mail.  WTF!?

Of course I dumped them all right away, but seriously, how can you get that much junk in just one day?

There's no doubt in my mind now, Hotmail has the WORST Junk Filter I have EVER seen.  Gmail is SO much better.  Most I've ever gotten with that is 3 in one day.  Most days though, I get zero there.

What's worse though, is that Hotmail can't tell the junk apart from the real stuff sometimes.  I often get the same junk in my Inbox, rather than having it put where it belongs.

If it wasn't for the fact that I need it to chat with my friends, both on and off of GOF, I would've given it up by now.

Seriously, Hotmail downright sucks when it comes to filtering out the Junk. :(

Lol tell me about it. On one email I only use for money business all the viagra spam comes through, while everything ending with @hotmail.com or @live.com or something is marked as spam... I tried editing that in the options but somehow hotmail won't allow me to mark @hotmail.com as a safe email :p

Yea it's terrible, mainly for that account.

I only have a hotmail account for MSN.  I sometimes check it.  It puts all these stupid advertisements in my inbox and flags Malte's email and other email I need as junk mail!  I finally found his email and responded to it when it was like 6 months old. He must've thought I was a real jerk for not replying.

Gmail is solid.  You get spammed based on how many times bots can find your email online anywhere...if its out there its fair game.

There is a service out there that you can put on your email address.  It blocks ALL emails except by email addresses that you approve.  Kinda a pain in the butt, but it works for those who don't receive many emails outside their contracts.

BTW, do you wanna see spam?  This is my very first Gmail email account:

Needless to say, I don't use this email address anymore. :lol  :p

The hell were you signing up for? dino_tongue.gif

Those were the days when I was always trying to make money online.  I actually found a few programs that work to an extent....in fact I've made about $2,000 in total by doing online stuff....but it was really hard to find the legit one's and most of the time all I got was spam. :p

Cera: And don't we tell others to NOT do that?

Then again, landbeforetimelover is one who handles viruses as part of his day-job.  So I'm not going to argue with it.  He's got the skills, most of us don't. -_-

OMG!  83 in junk today!?

How in the world do you get this much when you follow the rules?  Seriously!  It's ridiculous!
