The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Ask a question, get an answer!

Probably the same way I reacted to wasabi sauce

Cera:  "Oh, gimme that!  You guys are a bunch of sissies!  This is a job for a real...ugh...ahhhhh!  Too hot!  Get me water fast!"

Wasabi sauce is the one spicy item thus far that has me beat.  My family members each tried a pea-size amount and flipped out, so I said what I just had Cera say and took a whole tablespoonful of wasabi sauce :crazy.  That took a few minutes to recover from :p.

Mirumoto_Kenjiro: I don't have too many famous inspirational idols, but here are the ones I have and the reason(s) why:

*Amy Lee (Evanescence), for her vocal talent along with her songwriting.  Her songs remind me of poetry combined from my two favorite poets, listed next.  Also, she's a female rock star, and I wish we had more of them around.

*Emily Dickinson and Edgar Allan Poe, for their poetry style.  Lots of dark themes, which is what I'm into.

*Stephen King, for becoming a true master of horror.  I so wish I could write like him.

*Susan B. Anthony, for standing up for womens' rights when no one else would.  I am by all means not a feminist, as I believe sexism toward EITHER gender is entirely wrong.  However, I do respect her for paving the way so women like myself today have all the freedoms we do have.

The following person is not famous, but has still impacted me on a deep level:

*This patient I once took care of (name will remain undisclosed for confidentiality reasons).  He had some slowly progressive form of ALS aka Lou Gehrig's Disease all his life, was blind and deaf, and had severe motor problems.  Yet, he earned six degrees, made a career out of fighting life insurance fraud, traveled the world on his own, and lived his life the way a healthy individual would.  Being disabled myself, he taught me that I don't have it bad at all, that the only person who can stop me from doing what I want to do in life is myself, and that I can do anything I set my mind to.  I took care of him for four years, and he became more like a friend than a patient, and I was there with him when he passed away.  He was truly an inspirational individual I was blessed to know.

Other than that, a couple of relatives come to mind.  That's about it for now :).

Rat_lady7: My pets are doing good, spoiled as always :lol.  Things are mostly okay with me, aside from some drama that a relative has been causing.  For some odd reason, they seem to love drama, and it seems like everywhere they go trouble follows :bang.  Aside from that, though, everything else is pretty good :).

Quite a few things, actually :lol.  He likes to imitate the following:

*The front door opening, closing, and locking.
*Telephone
*Cell phone message alert sounds (usually beeps), and cell phone low battery sounds.
*Microwave
*Bodily functions, usually related to gas (not mine, BTW :p).  There's one particular relative he likes to imitate these sounds from :lol.
*My dog Maxwell howling.  When he gets separation anxiety, he howls.
*The squealing pig on the Geico commercial, though he doesn't do it as much as he used to.
*Curly Howard's "N'yuk 'n'yuk n'yuk" followed by "woo woo woo" :lol.  Sometimes I'll say "N'yuk n'yuk n'yuk!" and then he will go "Woo woo woo!".
*Phone conversations

Other things he likes to do:

*Yell at the dogs if they start barking or howling.  He usually yells, "Hey, hey, hey!  Stop it!  Stop it!  Maxwell!  Pepper!  Stop it!  Hey, shut up!"

*When I get home from work at night (I usually work nights) around 1 AM, he whistles when I come in the door and then asks me, "Are we ready to go night-night?"

*He also likes to tell me to stop it if I get in a bad mood and start ranting around him, but if I tell him to stop it, he pauses and then says, "Alright."

*Anytime I leave the room, he asks, "Where's Anna?"

*A relative thought it would be funny to teach him the Batman theme, so now he likes to sing, "Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo Baaatman!  Baaatman!  Baaatman!" :lol

*His favorite song so far is the disco song "Get Down Tonight".  He skips over the "Make a little love" part, so all he sings is "Do a little daaance!  Get dowwwwn!  Get dowwwwn!"

That's all I can think of for now.  He's an entertaining fethered pal to have around :lol.

I hope this doesn't sound like I'm putting you on the spot or anything, because I'm honestly very curious about your thoughts regarding this comment:

What in your mind do you believe being a feminist entails? Or rather what do you believe it means to be a feminist?

Pokeplayer:  Here they are:  Spongebob Squarepants, Rugrats, Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold!, Angry Beavers, Batman Beyond, Goof Troop, Doug, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Goosebumps, Daria, CatDog, Wienerville, Sonic the Hedgehog, original TMNT, Tinytoon Adventures, Garfield, Garfield and Friends, The Simpsons, Captain Planet, Ahhh! Real Monsters!, Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and Ren and Stimpy.

Rat_lady7:

No, not at all!  I've been busy (and dealing with some family drama :rolleyes), and consequently I don't feel I've been keeping up with posting as much as I'd like to :bang.  To answer your question, I hear a lot about feminists discriminating males and supporting abortion, neither of which I believe in.  I don't think sexism against either gender is ever right or fair.  I've had someone refer to me as a feminist before, and upon researching what it means to be a feminist, I quickly shot their suspicion down.  I do support women's rights (boy would I be a major hypocrite if I didn't :rolleyes), and I also support unborn children's rights and believe there should be zero sexism practced against either gender.  I'm not sure if this made sense.  There probably are different types of feminists out there, but I really hate being stereotyped for anything :confused.

^ I think that one can and must differenciate between feminism as in demanding equal rights, equal opportunity, equal pay, and equal treatment for women and a kind of hatred about males. As for the first definition I would describe myself as a feminist as well and even though many of the things that ought to be self-evident (e.g. right to vote) have by now been achieved in most countries of the western world (though in parts of Switzerland this is less than 20 years ago!) unequality in pay and opportunity (you will find very, very few women in leading positions in economy for example) persist and there is nothing irrational about working to change this but it should be more of a matter of course. I stand for this in spite of the fact that it is currently lessening my own employment chances because (due to the underrepresentation of women in teaching positions at German universities) most universities here officially declare that they will decide in favor of female applicants in case of two candidates of equal qualification.
However there is of course also the brand of feminism which is not primarily about equal rights for women but more about hatred against males ending up with situations where males would always be wrong (e.g. if the male holds open the door for a woman as an act of politeness he will be labeled as "old fashioned" and "dominant" while if the man then doesn't hold the door open he'll be labeled "disregardful" and "egocentric"). Some of the hatred also comes from the (true) observation that males have been responsible for most of histories bloodshed which is then projected on all males.
In Germany there is a famous feminist, Alice Schwartzer whose earlier works I highly respect. Due to her initiative the German language comes now with seperate words for females working as engineers, managers, directors etc. who had so far been described by the maskulin word for it. I know this may be difficult to understand seeing that the English language knows few such differentiations of gender, but I think in German it was quite a sensible step. However Alice Schwartzer has by now turned really to an extreme that I can only despise. When a mentally disturbed woman in the US castrated her husband she praised this as an act of liberation and the like.
It is important to differentiate between feminism (which I would call the adequate kind described above) and radical feminism (the extremist kind). There are few ideas and ideals that cannot be corrupted by being radicalised.

Sort of a random question: :P: as I recall, you’ve referred to yourself in the past as a “screwball”. How would you define a “screwball”, and what would you consider to be the diffferenceóif anyóbetween a “screwball” and a “spazz”? :p

To me, a "screwball" comes with a random and goofy sense of humor, and a "spazz" is a really hyper version of a screwball.  Kinda like a screwball that drank a whole six-pack of Red Bull :p.  I don't get hyper very often, so I feel I classify as more of a screwball than a spazz :lol.  Whether or not my post made any sense, I have no idea :lol.

Only one :p.  My supervisor made up a bogus assignment sheet for the employees, and my task for eight hours was to stay in the walk-in freezer.  I twisted the joke by pretending to take it seriously.  Whenever someone in charge would ask me for a favor, I would say "Sorry, I've gotta go back to the freezer." in such a serious manner that they thought I had taken the prank seriously :lol.  So, I guess that counts as an April Fools' prank I pulled :angel.
