Yup, I have a parrot named Howard

. He's a Congo African Grey, and he just turned five years old on November 11th (Veterans Day)

.
To answer your question, it was originally my sister who got him. She was working at the pet shop he was living in at the time, and the two bonded. After she graduated high school, she moved in with a couple of roommates. She's a party animal and loves to go out a lot and so do her friends, and she just could not find the time to take care of him, so I took him in. African Greys need a lot of socialization and maintenance (cage cleaning, nail filing, etc.) in order to be healthy and happy, and since I'm not much of a party animal, he gets much more attention from me

. Now that she's had a baby and has had to settle down a bit, I offered for her to take Howard back in if she wants, but now she says she has no room for him and, worse, act like he never meant anything to her. That makes me sad when people treat animals like material goods

. Oh well, he's much happier around me, and that's what matters
