The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Hey CT, it's been awhile since I talked to ya. :)

If you had over a million dollars, what would you do with it and why?

Rat_lady7: If I had that kind of money, I would pay off all my family's debt and loans, get a new vehicle (I seriously need one that's reliable!), and save the rest for travel and future plans.

Serris: Yes, I'm still in the game.

Nick22: No, I have not seen the new Scooby Doo series.  I hardly watch TV anyway ;).

CT:
I seem to recall you having a parrot named Howard, is that right or is it someone else that I've confused them with?
If it is right, then I hope you don't mind me asking you how you got Howard, I've been meaning to ask you?
Thank you.:)

Yup, I have a parrot named Howard :smile.  He's a Congo African Grey, and he just turned five years old on November 11th (Veterans Day) :DD.

To answer your question, it was originally my sister who got him.  She was working at the pet shop he was living in at the time, and the two bonded.  After she graduated high school, she moved in with a couple of roommates.  She's a party animal and loves to go out a lot and so do her friends, and she just could not find the time to take care of him, so I took him in.  African Greys need a lot of socialization and maintenance (cage cleaning, nail filing, etc.) in order to be healthy and happy, and since I'm not much of a party animal, he gets much more attention from me ;).  Now that she's had a baby and has had to settle down a bit, I offered for her to take Howard back in if she wants, but now she says she has no room for him and, worse, act like he never meant anything to her.  That makes me sad when people treat animals like material goods :cry.  Oh well, he's much happier around me, and that's what matters :).

Question inspired by this post:

Have you ever gone skydiving?

Mirumoto_Kenjiro: One of the most interesting things about Virginia is that there is something different to see or do throughout the state.  In my corner of the state is America's largest naval base, Williamsburg, and Jamestown.  The capitol, Richmond, has many unique museums, including one of a Faberge egg collection.  In most parts of the state you're not too far from Washington D.C. and its many museums and monuments, including the Smithsonian Institute.  The western part of the state is more rural and has the feel of an entirely different state, since it is mountainous.  For outdoor enthusiasts who are looking for some good hiking or just to see the fall colors, this part of the state is really nice.  All in all, there is something for everyone to see :yes.

Pangaea:  I have only gone skydiving once.  I went around my twenty-first birthday.  I had been debating trying it for a couple of years by that point, and then my cousin and her fiance came to visit.  She really wanted to go, and her fiance wanted to break his fear of heights for good, so we went.  Her fiance has not been afraid of heights ever since :lol.  I really want to go again.  I like adrenaline rushes, and so far that's the biggest one I've ever had :wow.  Bigger than being bluff-charged by a bear :lol.

Have you ever been snorkeling or scuba diving? (I think you might have mentioned it once,  but I can't remember.)

I've been snorkeling a couple of times :yes.  One of my favorite times was when I graduated high school and we went on a cruise to celebrate.  I got to snorkel among stingrays and even pet them :D.  They were habituated due to being fed by tourists, so they were quite tame :p.  I also got to snorkel through coral reef and hold a sea urchin :DD.

As for scuba diving, I have never gone, mostly due to my fear of deep, dark water.  Not only that, but when I was younger I saw too many movies/TV shows in which someone died from a scuba diving freak mishap, and I haven't been able to break my fear of that yet.  I would like to, since I've always wanted to visit the Great Barrier Reef :).

Hi Anna,
I just read that you too are playing the harmonica (an instrument which I too discovered for myself a few years ago and which I really like among other for it being so handy and easy to carry along wherever you go). What kind of harmonica(s) are you playing? Chromatic, Diatonic, Tremolo, or an entirely different type?
