Yes, actually

One of our last projects in my Drawing II class was to execute a self portrait next to a portrait of an animal we thought that we resembled, in oil pastels. Upon browsing various images I came across an illustration of Hagryphus and went on to research it further. It ended up being my final choice!
Of course, due to the uncertainty surrounding a given dinosaur's actual appearance I may have lost the point of the project a little bit... But ah well, Hagryphus was extremely fun to draw

A while ago, you said that you were interested in becoming a marine mammal trainer. What kinds of marine mammals are you hoping to work with?

When I get out of the Army, I want to have my degree in Marine Biology so that I can possibly get research grants and spend as much time on the water as possible. I'll tell ya, if there's one thing the Army's forced me to appreciate, it's freedom of travel. Every time I smell the ocean or get a glimpse of the bay and remember that I'm stuck here, it just about drives me crazy.

As for marine mammals, I'd love to get experience working with as many varieties as possible, though my fascination is particularly with whales, dolphins, and porpoises.

I suppose particularly I'd like to see Australia, Africa, Japan, and Russia. I'm also quite happy to be headed to Germany

Africa 's a continent, and so is Australia (although its also a country), semantic aside i think you'll get to visit a lot of Europe while stationed in Germany..

When I'm going for a complete, quality image, I work in Photoshop 7.0. It's wonderful for painting, but I really, really don't like to use it for lineart. As far as lines go I much prefer OpenCanvas and Flash MX, but the original OpenCanvas' layer system is very bad(also it won't work with my tablet for some reason), and Flash is no good with painterly color techniques.
The ideal for me is to ink by hand(I absolutely love using ink, it's a favorite medium of mine), scan it, and work with the lines in Photoshop, but unfortunately I am without a scanner at the moment

So I do what I must, which means messy Photoshop lines

The tablet I use is pretty small, I estimate it at six to eight inches by eight to ten inches. It's kinda cramped, but it gets the job done.

Unfortunately the file is long gone, but I believe that it was another couple of pen-sketches featuring Chomper, and perhaps Littlefoot or Ducky.

What's your opinion on religion as a whole? Or I guess to explain it a bit more, do you think religion is essential to human beings? Or is it something that you think doesn't necessarily needs to be around in life? It's just a security thing for human beings?

Wow! Now there's an essay question. I'd be happy to answer to the best of my abilities

Well, I don't think religion is essential to societal or individual function, in and of itself. I actually haven't looked into the history of religion at all, so I'm not sure of the extent of current knowledge on the subject. I'll have to fix that- it's fascinating stuff

To make an (un)educated guess, I'd say It's quite possible that it evolved partly as an aid to our species' developing analytical perception, and partly to add an element of stability to ever expanding social groups. Personally, I do believe that there is an invisible, ethereal element to life that we cannot percieve in our current state, but that's a rather broad statement. I think I'd call myself an Atheist simply because the description 'God' or 'diety' does not even approach accuracy as related to the vague, abstract concepts bouncing around in my brain

I suppose in short, I think it is essential to have a reference point for a personal understanding of existence. Religion suits this role beautifully, but it isn't the only thing that does.
And, apart from that... I'm really not sure :blink: I'll have to do some thinking on it and get back to you!
I would like to mention that I have the deepest respect for all faiths and the people who share them, though. It can truly be a beautiful thing
