It's an annual event here called "LANageddon". Hundreds of gamers pay a fee to bring their computers, hook up to a giant network, and LAN computer games for an entire weekend, straight. All participants spend the nights right at the locale, many of them right next to their computers. The event consists of tournaments, prizes, etc. Caffeine is permitted (in large quantities

I was Very tempted to go, but I don't have enough games to really make it worthwhile, nor did I really have the time (it was a weekend during the school year and I had a lot of stuff to do). I would have loved to try out in the Unreal Tournament competitions though

Overall, I'm not a hardcore enough gamer to be into this kind of event, which is mainly why I didn't end up going.
