The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Saw yersterday on the news, it seems that I-pods are exploding literaly on people's faces.

The first case was at 2006:

They are studying the case and see if they wheter will take it out of the market or not.

Weird

It says it exploded when they guy tried to fix it with a knife. Seems like his could be his fault if you ask me. Still, if I had an iPod and it exploded, I'd sure as heck want a replacement.

I heard about laptops catching fire, something to do about the battery.  Never heard about ipod's exploding, though I don't keep up with news much.

I used to fix Ipods all the time for people at school and you sure as heck need to know what you're doing.  Trying to fix it with a knife?  I hope he learned his lesson.  Stupid kid.

I'm pretty certain knives are not appropriate tools for fixing electronic devices. :rolleyes

iPods are completely sealed for a given reason. So little fingers who don't know what they're doing don't tamper with the bloody things. A knife is not a smart choice of tool for opening the casing. That's like asking for cosmetic surgery to be done with a shotgun! :DD Granted, electronic devices do tend to spark and blow up on the odd occasion but that is normally after the purchaser has done something stupid with it. A friend of mine nearly nuked his room with his "former" mp3 player coz he put the wrong charger to it. The voltage was too high and it fried it (apparently the explosive pop was a sight to behold :lol)

Oh, wow!  Funny enough, I'm charging my mp3 player with my laptop as I read this :lol.  That'd be stupid to pull such a product off the market 'cuz some stupid idiot decides to test his own unproven (and dangerous as he now knows) method of repairing gadgets at home .  Seriously, kids: DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!

Lol, I was quite in a hurry this morning when I wrote this, so I explained it wrong :p

That link tells about the first time that that ever happened(yes, follow Cancerian tiger's advice, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME :lol ) , but I meant recently cases of I-Pods exploding(not by crazy knifes dudes{detes} :p ) but by other reasons, while charging, being in contact with some materials, and even cases of exploding just because it felt like it :p , and some other pretty un-normal reasons.

They are studying the reasons and see if wheter they can fix it or not, if not, They will probaly take it out of the market.

Shame, I myself was thinking of buying one next month... it's not like its gonna explode on my face... is it  ?  :p

Dunno...I'm not a fan of the ipod or will be.  I have a five year old Creative Zen Micro (before color screens were the rage) and it still works.  Need to get it a new battery (I can actually replace it myself without tools!).  The ipod-ification of mp3 players ruined the market for me.  I don't like the one time use battery garbage.
