Sci-Fi RP anyone?

Just curious, is anyone wanting a Sci-Fi like rp? You know, in the future, space battles, space food...anything space related....even space pirates!

If anyone is interested in such a thing, just say so in here ^^

Well, so far, the details that I have is that it's the future of course, aliens and humans living together across various planets. There are space pirates around here and there, which is one of the dangers in the galaxy.

I'm in, If you decide to get this thing going. Do you have any plans for a setting (is it based off something or is it completely from scratch), or are you open for suggestions?

Actually, both, you know, from scratch, as well as open for ideas ^^

Only thing is that it has no relation to the Star Wars universe, so no lightsabers, or The Force, or anything like that XD

My friend once told me of a pen and paper rp he was in where the gm took bits from different well known non star trek/ star wars universes so the pc's were quite an odd mix. As I recall he said the group of good guys consisted of, I think, a terminator type, robocop type, someone who was part alien (xenomorph type) and part human, maybe a predator type. A mix like that, though some of those characters are very powerful.

Maybe we can take some bits from some popular science fiction movies, tv series, novels, ect, to make an original fun science fiction universe.

Hmm yeah, I see what you mean by that and that could very well work out. I would also allow Star Wars races, but not the whole force thing, just the alien races as it were....and of course, your own made-up races as well.

But yeah, I believe we can very well do that ^^

I have an old sci-fi setting I made up many many years ago based on the concept of humanity spreading itself too thin... and collapsing when the only form of known faster than light travel ceases to work.

When a new (but highly inefficient) form of faster than light travel is discovered... a fragment of humanity is forced to battle piracy and corruption whilst rebuilding and making contact with lost colonies, with unexpected results.

I do hope there are other races besides human. Though some control on power level may need to be done so some do not wind up way more powerful then the other player characters.

Ah, don't worry, with alien races, since there will be alien races, the only difference is that some might be a bit stronger than others, cause of their size so to speak.

And Jittery, I do have to say, that does wound rather intruiging, perhaps it could be interigated into the RP as well, as in, one section of the galaxy has that happening, maybe having lost contact with the rest of the galaxy in regards to it *shrugs*

It could be a reason why. Maybe far off the trade lanes, far out where few folks went, a bit of a hazard to get there, ect. Something like Pern where something happens from time to time. Something like an astroid belt where only certain pathways are safe. A very nasty war in the past in the area. Or a mix of things could lead to them being cut off.

Well, we could discuss characters and that now, you know, to pan things out and what have you.

As I could explain my character, who at the moment, is known as Firefly, based upon the suit that she wears, however, it's rather hard to tell that she's a girl from underneath her suit.
The suit that she uses has the ability of flight along with her gun and energy sword, which is not a lightsaber mind you XD
Her real name is Valria, and she is an alien too, but she's a good alien tso to speak, having left the Earth Defence Force to pursue other things. She herself is a bounty hunter who is hunting someone at the moment, but finding this person has been rather difficult, as no one knows where he is.

But yes, I will also get the first post set-up now, but that doesn't stop anyone from talking more about it in here too ^^

My characters are in... business as usual for them.

Raiven Lithander - Human male.

Age - 37, but modern cosmetics make him look a bit younger.
Occupation - Space Police officer. His main task is to try and deal with the many crimes that happen all around the galaxy. A insanely difficult job, but someone has to do it in order to try and maintain order.

Appearance - A tall, lanky human. He has dark brown eyes and long brown hair... and is usually clean shaven. He wears a black trenchcoat, dark pants and occasionally a pair of black sunglasses.

Background - Raiven was born in the slums, but his experiences with the criminal world and the things it cost him have made him see the light. He took up a job as a rookie officer, mainly dealing with Earth crime until he proved himself in a major drug bust. Now he is a officer, and travels in an undercover craft at the behest of the mysterious Commissioner. He has a rookie partner, named Isodor.

Personality - A straight faced, shoot first ask questions later kind of guy. On Isodor can keep him in check. However, he cares a great deal for his friends, though he does not show this more gentle side very often.
