New Fanfic Ideas

Now, before I begin, I have decided to abandon my LBT fic, Dark Future. I just haven't had ANY inspiration to work on it.

Okay, with that out of the way, I am happy to announce that I have come up with TWO brand new ideas for LBT fanfiction.

The first idea is simple. The idea is that the gang meet a dinosaur with a disability. I'm mainly aiming towards blindness with this one.

The second idea is a little more complex, and is for older viewers. This idea involves Ali returning, but she has anorxia. (The illness of not wanting to eat in the attempt to look beautiful.) Can the gang help her beat this illness?

So, what do you think of the ideas?

While I consider the first of the two ideas very interesting, I'm very sceptical about the second. Anorxia, as far as I know, is a psychological illness based on the far spread, silly human ideal that thiner is prettier.
I'm afraid that projecting such human ideas onto dinosaurs, and such survival specialists as migrating dinosaurs in particular, would be a bit too much of an anthropomorphization.

Well, Malte, I think you might change your mind when I tell you HOW I plan to make the stories work.

For the first story, I am going with blindness. Now, the way this happened to the unfortunate dinosaur was an encounter with a sharptooth.

(I think you can guess what happened.) However, I have a little problem. I'm trying to decide whether to make the dinosaur as old as the gang, or as an adult.

So, let's take a vote. What would you guys like out of this one?

As for the second story, here's the basic in-depth idea. Ali has come to the age where she would be pressured to find a mate. With her returning to the valley, she is given the chance to try and make her one crush, Littlefoot, become her mate. However, someone in her herd, who is thinner, tells her that, and I quote, "since she's fat, there's no way she'll get ANY male! She's too ugly!" As you can see, by this influence, she tries to become thinner by not eating. Which eventually leads to her anorexia. Sad, huh?

As you can see, the second idea is an Ali&Littlefoot love story.

I still consider the first of your two ideas the one that sounds more like an LBT story. As a matter of fact I have some similar plans on a story with a character rather maimed (though he lost but only one eye so he is not blind, but really scarred and therefore looks rather terrifying). However, the story is somewhat sinister (while of course I wouldn't cross the border of what I think could be possible in an actual movie) which is why I'm not a hundred percent certain whether or not I'm going to write it. I did make a very raw sketch of a scene from that story a long time ago:

As for the other story idea, I still think it would be way too much about human ideals and concepts of beauty for a dinosaur story. In general I'm very sceptical about the idea of letting the LBT characters grow up and all that. Others think differently of course, but this is my opinion.

To be honest, I don't think an animal getting anorexia would make much sense. But I like the blindness idea.

The disability one sounds good...surely dinosaurs were injured or born with some sort of problem so it certainly is a realistic possibility. Anorexia--that's a human-only condition...you don't see animals getting anorexia...I don't think that would work too well.

Malte, why are you so against the charcters growing up? It will happen enventually. It's a normal part of life.

At this point, I don't have the time to explain how the anorexia one works, but I will give full detail as soon as possible.

For now, let's discuss the blindness one. What kind of dinosaur would you guys like for the gang to meet with this disability? Remember, you can pick ANY leaf-eating dinosaur.

Okay, now to go into deeper detail of the anorexia one in the hopes you will have at least a better opinion of it.

Now, first off, in this story, Ali wants Littlefoot as her mate. However, there is this other longneck from her herd that also wants Littlefoot as a mate. Wanting Ali out of the picture, the other female tells a lie to Ali. She tells Ali that she's fat, and becuase of that she'll never be beautiful, and because she's ugly, Littlefoot will NEVER love her. Like an idiot, Ali believes her. As a result, Ali eats less and less. Soon, this not eating thing becomes a habit, especially with the other female always calling her ugly, which leads to Ali's anorexia.

As you can see, I'm using emotions to make it work. More logic now, isn't it?

I'm still not convinced of that making for a good LBT story. It presupposes human concepts of beauty for dinosaurs (certainly not an of limits matter, but definitely not something to be desired in an LBT story either). The plot reminds very much of the kind of teenager story that can be found anywhere. I really think that your other idea offers much more of a chance for something that hasn't been told many, many times already, while it also stays closer to the land before time as we know it from the movies.

It certainly is. However, the land before time is really basically about the five characters as we know them. They are not going to let them grow up in the movies. By letting them grow up there is a huge risk of the author making up completely new characters with nothing but the names in common with whom they are supposed to be.
I have yet to read a land before time story about the grown up LBT characters which doesn't mess with the whole setting of the land before time to a degree that I cannot call anything but a distorted, sometimes even perverted, image of the land before time.
I really strongly recommend you to pick the other idea of yours. It sure sounds more like LBT and leaves more possibilities as well (everyone knows how that anorexia story is going to end).

Unless you have a very strong sense for tragedy (to a degree that is probably too strong for an LBT story) Ali will be healed, she and Littlefoot will find together, and they lived happily ever after.

Depends on what you have in mind for that character to do. The kind I picked for the story I'm planning on would be a thornthumb (Iguanodon). You should think about what you want the character to do and what kind of physical features the character would need for that. Also the species may have a strong impact on how a character would be perceived by other dinosaurs (and that includes our non-racist main characters).

the Anorexia idea as I said... its new original I really think it will work. its something no one would expect. also it would be interesting for Ali to go through something like this. and with me being a fan of the Littlefoot and Ali love relationship club (not exsistant but you know what I mean) I would think its an idea that is the first of its kind. whats the back story to it Pokeplayer?

Oh, you don't want to know how much Tragedy I can put into my stories. In fact, it becomes quite the factor to work with my stories, sometimes late in the development.

In fact, I'm currently doing a story that will probably be the most tragic ever made for any story whatsoever.

In case I've already sparked your interest, I will tell you it is R-rated (For violence, gore, death, very harsh language, suggestive dialouge, and non-sexual related nudity.) and currently 66 pages long in only 3 chapters. (Longest, charcter-wise, I have ever written.) Plus Pokemon related. So, you interested?

So, don't think for a second that it will end like that, for Tragedy, along with Romance, is one of my specialties. :^.^:

As for the blindness one, I do have in mind a scene where the questionable dinosaur does feel the group, trying to guess what they look like. In other words, the dinosaur touches their body to get a mental picture of what the gang looks like.

Of course, knowing blindness, I will have this unknown being be guided by a herd that cares about it. I understand that a dinosaur is as good as dead being both blind and alone.

Anything else, I'm not sure of yet, but I'll let you know when I come up with them.

Which enumerates most of the things that makes a story everything but an LBT story. I will never get what makes people think it's impossible to write an LBT story true to LBT as we know it from the movies. People are too adicted to all that stuff which is provided in plenty by numerous other stories already. Sometimes it seems as if people cannot tollerate a story which does not contain an excessive degree of violence etc. <_<
Oh well, there is a thread on this topic already.
As for non-sexual related nudity, tell me a single LBT movie in which the characters are not nude, or are you talking about the humans you mean to put into LBT?

Well, first off, the story I was talking about there is NOT for LBT, it's for Pokemon.

Second, the nudity I was talking about ONLY implies to humans.

Here's a scene for the blind dinosaur one that I came up with. Sadly, this will limit the choices of what the dinosaur in question will be. Tell me what you think of it.

Scene: The blind dinosaur is talking to the gang.

"So, could you tell me why you have leaves over your eyes?" Littlefoot asked with curiousity.

"Well some time ago, I had a battle with a sharptooth, and as a result, I lost my eyes, making me forever unable to see with them." The blind dinosaur answered.

"Oh, that is so sad!" Ducky said, feeling sorry for the poor dinosaur.

Cera though, doesn't seem to care how sad it is. "So, why don't you just remove those leaves from your eyes and show what they look like?"

"Uh, me think that bad idea!" Petrie said, trying to warn Cera.

"I agree with Petrie, yep, yep, yep! Not a good idea at all." Ducky agreed.

"I agree with them, Cera. I really don't think that's such a good idea." Littlefoot said. Spike gives his agreement with a movement of the head.

"Oh, come on you babies! How bad could it be?" Cera asked.

"Are you sure you want to see them? I warn you, it's not pretty!" The blind dinosaur warned Cera.

"Oh, we can handle anything! Do it!" Cera demanded.

'Why do I have a feeling that I'm going to regret this?' Littlefoot asked himself in thought.

"Okay, but I warned you." The blind dinosaur said.

The blind dinosaur then removed the leaves from its eyes. Upon seeing them, each member of the gang had a different reaction to the ugly scene. Littlefoot had his mouth wide open in shock. Ducky's face suddenly went pale and she felt a little sick. Petrie had fainted from fright. Spike buried his head into the ground. However, Cera had the worst of it. She started rather quisey. Upon feeling that, she quickly rushed over to a nearby bush and started retching.

Littlefoot heard Cera retching and was able to snap back to reality. He then turned towards her. "We told you it was a bad idea, Cera!" He said.

*End Scene*
