Does anybody remember this show?  I do and I absolutely loved it.  In fact, I loved it so much that I went and bought Volume 1,2 and 4 on DVD.  I've never been able to find Volume 3 anywhere though. :(

Anyway, I liked this show because of the good animation, awesome music score, character depth, Mark Hamill is an awesome Joker, Harley Quinn, the voice acting, and the 1940s style Gotham City.

First, Mark Hamill's Joker is awesome.  In fact, I consider him second only to Heath Ledger's Joker.  I grew up watching this show so Mark Hamill's Joker is the one I'm most familiar with.  I like how he can be funny and scary at the same time.

Harley Quinn as the Joker's sidekick was a plus too.  She may be a dumb bimbo but she is every bit as cruel and insane as the Joker himself.  In fact, she was so popular with the fans that DC put her in the comic books.  I think she and the Joker actually make a cute (but insane) couple.

When I was a kid, I didn't actually understand what was going on most of the time.  I just liked watching batman beat up bad guys.  However, now that I'm old enough to understand it, I am amazed at the complexity of some of the episodes.  First of all, I like how the villains are portrayed.  Some of these guys actually have pretty tragic backstories.  Take Mr. Freeze for example.  I like what they did with his character in the series.  For a 30 minute cartoon, they actually managed to tell some pretty good stories.  I also liked the episode about the Gray Ghost, who was played by Adam West.  I mean, the characters in this show seemed real to me even though they were just cartoons.  Warner Bros did a great job with this show.

I don't think there's a Batman fan who doesn't remember it. I don't really have anything to add other than I agree completely.

A good show, except I never liked Harley Quinn.  I have always found her as annoying as Joxer on Xena and I won't watch any episode with either character in it.  Apart from Harley Quinn the show is very good.  Though it does seem odd about batman little a little boy in the last season or 2 of the show run around and put himself into danger.  My favorite era of the show is the pre Timothy Drake era, with the episodes without Harley Quinn.

it was a classic series which has inspired batman fans for almost two decades. i didn't miss a show in the entire run, it made Kevin Conroy The voice for Batman. hes made a living off of it. and next to Luke Skywalker, the Joker is the most famous character Hamill is known for. that is what made  the game Arkham Aslylum so great they brought the voices back from the show and made a great storyline for the game

I remember them.  They used to play them on Cartoonnetwork at night (when I was younger and lived in England), so I'd stay up very late to just watch them.  I did not watch all the episodes but the animated series was a good show to watch.

You know, when I look at this show, I ask myself, "Why can't they make shows like this today?" This is one of the many shows that made being a kid in the 90's so wonderful.

The storyline for many of the characters were so deep and dark.  They were truly emotional.  I am especially moved by the storyline of Mr. Freeze.  Who knew you could become so cold and bitter just from losing someone?

I even loved the voices.  They often matched what the character was like.  Both Joker and Batman had awesome voices.  I don't know how WB found such talent, but these are the kinds of actors I wish we had for kid's shows today.

To me, it is heartbreaking that this show isn't around today.  It's a gem that should NEVER die. :)

i whole hearted agree poke. the shows today are either crap or pale imitations of classic shows. Shaggy and Scooby doo get a clue was pretty dumb, and Loonatics Unleashed was just classic cartoon characters given superpowers.

Ah, this brings back great memories. It's a shame so many have forgotten this shining example of television. I would watch this with my friends all the time. Man, I really miss this show, actually.

I'm still trying to find season 3.  The show still runs on Toon Disney alongside the Superman cartoon, which I'm not a big fan of (Superman was a wimp in the animated series).  And yes, most cartoon shows today suck.  (that aweful show Chowder comes to mind)  Anyway, I am still amazed how much plot they could fit in this 30 minute show.

On a side note, I like how the voice actors returned for Arkham Asylum.  It felt like a continuation of the animated series, even though it isn't.  I think Kevin Conroy is the best Batman of all time.  Christian Bale sounds too much like he has throat cancer or something, Adam West isn't serious enough, and don't even get me started on George Clooney. :x  Michael Keaton wasn't bad though.

Sounds neat to have the same same voice actors as the 90's series.

As for superman he has to be depowered or he'd be to powerful for most plots.  One problem with the modern version of superman then the early golden age one is his sheer power levels.

I read somewhere in the pre crises universe I think earth humans would have superman level powers in white dwarfs I think, or blue, forgot which and superman's would be increased proportionality.  No idea if it was like that then or if it's like that post crises.

b;ue is the hottest. so white humans would like superman, and he would be stronger still. you'd increase that even more for blue stars.

If it helps, Schumachar has made a commentary for the film where he spends the entirety of it apologizing for the film.
