I gotta say, I love FF4.  It's still in Beta stage, but from what I can tell, it's gonna kick Chrome's butt.  It's so much faster than FF3 and it looks pretty good (once you change things around a bit).  I must admit, the thing looks like crap as soon as you get it.  You have to make sure your bookmarks toolbar is showing and that the tabs aren't at the top....otherwise you won't even be able to read the names on your tabs. Though I do like the upgrade, I wish they'd change this.  It's really gonna turn people off.

The inspect element has a lot of potential, but it's buggy as hell over on my end.  It jumps around the screen and things aren't lined up properly.  But I'm sure it'll be fixed in the real version.  Overall I think I'm going to stick with FF4 Beta as my main browser for the time being.  I can't wait till the full version is released!  :D

How about the amount of memory that it uses? Is it about the same or perhaps less? To me on the gang of five I use about 78mb (on Firefox 3.6.8)

I can't say much about the new FireFox's memory usage as I'm always using and abusing it.  I always have FF open for days (sometimes weeks) at a time and I usually have at least 50 tabs open spanned across two or three windows.  Because of this, my FF usually eats several gigabytes of ram.  Right now I'm not even using it much and it's using 471MB.  :lol

I think I'll wait until the bugs are taken care of before completely switching over to this one.  For the time being, it does look pretty sweet. :)

Besides, they've got another 0.3.2 versions to go through before reaching 4.  They've got time to improve it. :)

I must say, the thing is pretty darn unstable.  No wonder they haven't publicly promoted it that much yet.  I'd say it's more of an alpha than a beta.  But anyway, the thing does seem to be better at not taking up so much frickin' ram.  I'm only using about half a gig right now and it's not going any higher!  I don't like how they've ripped off Opera's style and "feel" though.  I for one am not a fan of the Opera look.  But whatever.  It took me some time to get used to FF3 too.  I used FF2 for a while before I finally switched over to FF3 for good.

I experienced some bugs with FF4, but it's okay.

But what the hell are "user studies"?! I've got a message, saying that they collected my data or something like that. o.O Of course I denied sending my data to them and immediately turned off user studies. Are they allowed to do this? Is privacy guaranteed with this browser?

^You should turn it back on.  What it does is send a report to Mozilla listing all the sites you've visited.  This helps them test and see how many sites out there on the net the browser can visit without major issues.  When they reach a billion sites or whatever, they'll release the full version.  Of course that's just one of the many pieces of information they collect to help determine if the version is ready for full release.

I think it is fair to say that most of Firefox's products beat the competition, and will likely do so for a number of years.

You'd have to really wow me to get me away from Chrome.  Works wonders on a slower internet connection, and that's what I deal with.

^I use all the browsers and I like all of them aside from Safari and IE.  But for slow connections Chrome takes the cake for sure.  Right now I have FF4, Chome, and Opera open all at the same time.   :D

Firefox has now been upgraded to 4.0

Your thoughts?

Kind of a Chrome Clone if you ask me.

Merged topics.

I enjoy how this Firefox is slightly faster in booting up and does not take forever to shut down.  The looks of it are still kind of confusing me with Opera, but I'll get used to it eventually.

Firefox 4 has some bugs. When I upload YouTube videos, Firefox needs (atfer some time) up to 2GB of RAM (!!), behaves strange, and the upload freezes and/or needs about 300 hours to finish (less than 10MB).

Even Adobe Premiere CS4 Pro needed only 1GB of RAM. o.O

Animated .gif images bring burden to the CPU. When I was on the "Add Reply" page upon posting this, Task Manager showed a 40% increase in CPU usage from Firefox itself.

Oh and a few of my add-ons aren't compatible with FF4 too, but nonetheless, it's working great so far. ;)

This version of the browser has been crashing quite a bit for me, sadly.  At this point, I'm thinking of going back to Chrome until they do a few more updates to fix the problems.

It's the only inconvenience I've found.  Everything else with it has been just fine for me. :)

Actually I've been using Firefox 4 since it was released.  I'm not seeing any major problems.  I don't know why others are...must be the add-ons.  I only use one to get videos off of youtube for classes.

I've been using the new firefox for the last few weeks. Like PokePlayer, the browser is crashing occasionally for me, but it's working fine otherwise.

I haven't had one crash since it was officially released.  I'm loving everything about it other than the initial setup.

I like it, seems like they tried to put as little buttons and menus in your face as possible. Now like 95% of my screen is the actual webpage I'm looking at, and not all this useless crap on the web browser that I could care less about.

Okay, here's another problem I've been having since I got FF4.

Sometimes, it doesn't open.  I don't know why, but it just doesn't open.  There's no indication of an error or anything.  I just double-click on the icon and it won't open.  I even try alternatives like the button on the taskbar and going into Start and doing it there and it STILL doesn't open.

The only way I can find to solve the problem is to restart.

Strangely enough, whenever this occurs, Chrome can still open.  Yet, no matter how long i wait, FF4 just won't open.

Still, why is this happening from time to time?  I don't understand what's going on.
