The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

The trend in today's cartoons

I recently watched cartoon network (which i hadn't seen since like 2007) and I noticed a lot of new shows and here's something about all of them.

They're just so mediocre, Adventure tim looks so effed up and has boring character design.  <_<

What happened to the good shows like ed edd eddy, jonny bravo, justice friends, dexter? Ican't believe that the shows I listed have been replaced with fermented shit. :bang

And it looks like a new show called Problem solvers is comming, and it looks like even a brainless Idiot can do waaaaay better than that. :exactly

R.I.P. Cartoon Network

    You suck now.

I've been noticing that trend too with cartoons. Even once good shows are turning sour, like Spongebob and fairly odd parents (thats still being made, right?) The only recent good show I can think of is Phineas and Ferb.

Futurama made a pretty good comeback last year, though I don't know how much you'd consider that a cartoon.

Personally I still like Spongebob. I see nothing wrong with the newest episodes.

They just seem braindead to me and some seem to have uninspired plots.

I like what I've seen of the current Scooby Doo Mystery Inc cartoon.   I guess the reason most shows are so bad could be that it is easy to write and do a bad show since it takes little thought and such whereas doing a good show takes much more effort.  And hiring folks with no or little ability and talent may be a lot cheaper and easier to find also.  There may also be perception among some adults that cartoons are just for kids and kids are stupid so who cares about quality.

With a list of horrible cartoons like "Misadventures of FlapJack", "The Regular Show", "Adventure time", and "Chowder", it's not hard to agree. I would rather watch Nick Jr. cartoon. I'm serious. Little Bear, Blues Clues, even the Backyardigans are better!

No way I'm letting my nephew be poisoned by all this crap!  When I'm babysitting him, he'll only be watching good stuff, bottom line!

This will also be the same with my future nieces and nephews.

Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, it was fun while it lasted.  R.I.P :boohoo.

And I agree with Pokeplayer.  If I ever have kids, they will not be exposed to what today calls entertainment.  They will know what we grew up with for entertainment :exactly.

If I have kids, which I doubt, I'd do a mixture of both today's cartoons and the cartoons I grew up with. I don't deem it fair to deprive the kids of today's cartoons just because I didn't like them. If the kids like the shows, who am I to stop them? Not like they are ultra-violent or anything.

Yeah, it's a real shame. I think the main cause is the big transfer from hand-drawn animation or hand-drawn/computer (Drawn by hand, coloured and animated on computer), to all-computer animation. It just takes out so much of the vividness of the shows.Back in the good days of cartoons, characters moved when they spoke. Nowadays, most of the time when you see a character talk in a show, they are completely still except for a superimposed mouth that has no effect on their chin somehow. But then, I'm just an advocate for traditional-animation, so that's just personal opinion.

I'd say the last great cartoon CN had was Ed Edd n Eddy. Man that show was fun. Great stories, good characters, brilliant animation (A great example of hand-drawn/computer animating), and by ending on a feature film that introduced a character that had only ever been alluded to previously (Eddy's older brother), a great exit too.

I'd say the only good new cartoon I've seen on CN is Regular Show, and that's simply because of how completely off-the-wall bizarre it is. But they do it in a good way, by making it seem more like surreal comedy rather than forced humour.

And yes, if I ever have children, I'll be sure to stock up on classic cartoons.

I concur with everyone else about my kids. Classics ftw, unless there IS something in their generation that I like.
And Bone. They're gettin' a nice strong serving of Bone. Complete with a decent female role model.

Am I the only one who is willing to let my kids watch both new gen and old gen cartoons and not choose simply because of what I like? I guess so. Oh well.  :p

Don't have that channel, but it is listed on my tv's "Guide" list.

Seems they play Fraggle Rock reruns, so that's good.

Yep, the cartoon's today are like crap. Seriously, there's just some new shows that I can't stand, and the animation looks horrible! Like Sidekick, League of Super Evil, Kid Vs Kat, Grossology, (I liked that show, but the animation sucks) Danny Phantom, Fairly Odd Parents, (does that show even air anymore?) Almost Naked Animals, Scaredy Squirrel, (yes, they did in fact make a tv show about the book) and much more, I'm serious, I could go on with this list forever.

Since people are talking about Spongebob, I'll tell you what I think of the newer plots and animation. It's not good, I'll admit, the animation is okay, better than it was in the 90's that's for sure, but the plots? Oh gosh, where have the good plots gone? Seriously, I watched this one episode today and it was where Plankton and Mr. Krabs switched plavces and at the end, they were ripping off their friggin skins! What's up with that! First, Patrick was Squidward, then he was Sandy, then he was Spongebob, then he was back to himself. Wha...? I'm confused already.

Also, contiunuing on with Spongebob, I had a little chat with my dad about how much the animation styles of the show have changed throughtout the years and boy have they, but I'm not gunna go into that.

Goodbye, Nickelodean and YTV's good shows, you will be missed.
