The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

The trend in today's cartoons

I used to get Boomerang, and that channel had nothing but old cartoons on it. I kind of miss it now. :cry

Um, Avatar: The Last Airbender, anyone? Avatar: The Legend of Korra? Come on, guys. Good animated shows still get made.

A lot of crap also gets made but that's always been the case.

I don't know anything about the new shows, I admit (everything since 1999 on Cartoon Network is new for me). However, I do notice the difference in animation and plot quality between late 80s and early 90s shows such as Captain Hero, He-Man and Dink the Dinosaur and late 90s shows such as Cow and Chicken, Dexter and Johnny Bravo. I like the old ones better, and Cow and Chicken is downright morbid in my opinion (cow and chiken eating sausages (in graphic detail), topless parents and a naked devil jumping around on his butt). I liked Spongebob though. I had been watching it on Super RTL for years, just like I had been doing with Darkwing Duck (I recognize the villain in Ptyra's avatar), The Gummybears, Arielle the Little Mermaid, Chip and Dale. All dubbed in German, of course.

I think every generation will think the cartoons it watched will think those cartoons are the best, along with the cartoons watched by previos generations.

Anybody doesn't like Tom and Jerry or Looney Tunes?
I thought so.

Our children will inevitably watch and like cartoons that we wouldn't like. And it will be the same with their children. However, we may yet hope that the cartoons we watched will become classics in their eyes. Just as Looney Tunes is immortal, so maybe the same will happen with The Land Before Time.

I agree with some of you on the fact that a good majority of the newer catoons on television aren't very original or creative, and the ones that are still being aired today just aren't as funny as they used to be.

As for Cartoon Network, I think the best shows on there are the ones on the Adult Swim block. And yes, that excludes the syndicated shows Family Guy and Futurama. Robot Chicken forever.
