The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Having gotten into the PSP recently, I think the Vita looks rather interesting. Based on the page for games announced for the console (and the games after all are what's important), I'm rather looking forward to:

Wipeout 2048, Modnation Racers (If it's an different version than the current PSP one), and the next Ridge Racer.

Anyone else excited?

I dunno. Since I've had my PSP, there have been some good titles for it. However, I haven't really seen anything particularly big on the PSP scene since Dissidia 012 and it's been gathering dust. The Vita looks like it's got some nice features but as with any console, for me, if the game titles are decent enough, then I might be encouraged to invest in one. At the moment, can't say my interest has been piqued enough. Let's see what happens once it's out.

To be fair, it seems every console, in it's final year, doesn't really produce any major/good games it seems these days...

Companies usually save their big projects for the newer systems where it will most likely sell more copies as a launch title

As usual, Sony managed to envoke a very strong sense of apathy in me with it's console designs. Yeah, this will probably be the last PlayStation device released.

Really, I think the Playstation isn't dead yet WR, I'm optimistic about it.

The Playstation is far from being dead, actually. There's no signs of such a thing.

And if you bring up the fact that the Playstation Network was hacked, keep in mind that the Nintendo Wii was also hacked.

The Playstation just isn't dead.

remember, even if the PS3 is in third place in sales, remember how well sales-wise the Gamecube was doing during it's lifetime.

And to add to that, if the Playstation really is dead/dying, how come there's still a lot of games coming out on the PS? Why would gaming companies invest in putting their games on a "dying system"?

Just trying to make a point. Not everyone will like the Playstation. That's unavoidable. We all have different tastes. But before we state negative things about a console we don't like (for instance stating that a system is dying), we should get the facts first and take a good look at how the console is actually doing instead of letting our love for one particular console cloud our judgment on other consoles.

Though I tend to be more neutral when it comes to consoles. I don't consider myself an obsessive fan over Playstation, or Nintendo (the main two consoles I play). I feel a neutral position allows for a more fair view on the consoles.

Nintendo's been making way too many innovations and Sony has done a piss poor job keeping up. It will die soon. Lots of games? Not reallh. The latest PS had by far the least games and what it did have was also on the Wii or 360. Oh yes, it will die.

What happened to being optimistic and not nay-saying about a console before it comes out, WR?

Sony's recent decisons. First they made the PS3 as archaic, over-priced, and obsolete as they possibly could, and then they aped Nintendo's design for the Wii as blatantly as they could. At least the Kinect tried to be original to some degree, even if it was crap. They have nothing left to offer the gaming world.

What sets the Gamecube apart from the PS3 is that the PS3 actually deserved to be the worst seller.

Well, there are people who like Sony, and besides, there have been plenty of consoles that are "the same as previous generations, only better graphics."

You could say the "Ps2 is just PS1, better graphics" or "Gamecube is just N64, better graphics."

I'm not calling any company dead or doomed. And even if the PS3 was flawed, why is it impossible to learn from your mistakes?

Then I feel sorry for anyone who does like them and their inferior products. If they were ever going to learn from their mistakes, they would have better designs for their next console and handheld. Nintendo is going to kick their asses again, and rightly so.

Ah, so anyone who likes Sony is stupid, huh?

So you think anyone who doesn't think the same way as you in regards to video games is an idiot? Nice.

No, I feel sorry for them because they're not going to be around much longer. With these pathetic designs, they'll be lucky to last long enough to close up shop by the time Nintendo announces it's next handheld.

I like Sony, and I like Nintendo. Nothing wrong with that. I find it annoying at how there are people who are so blinded by an obsession with one console that they'll hate on another console, even if that console is doing better than they believe it is.

Even Nintendo has made mistakes in the past and is not perfect. If one really thinks Sony is doing the same stuff over and over again, they should remember that Nintendo is the same way. What is coming out on Nintendo recently? From what I have seen, it's largely reboots and rehashes of the same franchises, such as Mario and Zelda. I'm pretty sure X-Box is the same way.

The fact is, repetition is common in games nowadays and is not solely the biproduct of one console; but that all consoles suffer the same thing. It's because of gamers who are too scared to try anything new and prefer sticking to the same formula over and over again (and ironically some of those same people will rant about how games today are all the same).

Rather than be short-sighted and think only one console is becoming repetitive, one should open their eyes and see that it's all the consoles that are suffering from this problem, and games in general, and it's because of gamers, not the companies.

Well, that's still better than anything Sony's been up to. Don't lie to me, Dark. I know you don't like Nintendo. I very clearly remembering you having nothing but scorn for the Wii the last the matter came up.

:anger Just because you don't like Sony doesn't mean other people don't.

WR, how come you gleefully bash anything you don't like but if someone in any way critiques something you like, you get all ticked off?

Isn't that a tad hypocritical?

Hey, I'm a Nintendo fan. After years of having to put with idiotic PS fans bashing the Nintendo and having to take it because the Gamecube was on the bottom, I'm going to enjoy throwing the venom back for all it's worth.
And, what the Nintendo is up to actually is better than anything Sony has going on.
