The demon let out an unearthly screech as someone stabbed it with an active plasma pole cutter in a desperate attempt to wound it. And it actually seemed somewhat effective thanks to the superheated blade.

The soldier ran to one of the dune buggies and started looking through the emergency kit for something that generated intense heat.

Eric came across a pod racer. "How much would it cost to rent one of these?" he asked.

"Depends. Are you gonna a bring it back in one piece?" The owner asked.

Eric nodded, then shook his head. "Actually I was planning on taking it one-way," he admitted.

The guy shrugged and showed him some payment plans. Eric chose the one with the lowest interest rate and paid him all the remaining money he had.

A few minutes later he sped up to the others in a pod racer. "Hey all, that guy sells pod racers! Go grab one!" He grinned.

With the first round of each weight and gender division mostly over, the ones who had qualified wer taking the time to refresh themselves.

"Just 2 more rounds worth of matches for each of us, and then we'll reach the semi finals," Kiara said to Vitani, "Hopefully enough of us will qualify to win the bet."

"Nice job boys," Balto said to Kovu and Kopa back at their heya, "You did pretty well for first timers. Treat yourself to something nice to eat, and tons of it."

Ms. Swimmer sipped some green tea. A massive Holstein turned to her and spoke.

"For a first timer, you're very good," she said as she dug into her plate of tofu chankonabe.

Ms. Swimmer took some bites of her rice bowl with seaweed and tofu. "I've been practicing Valleyian Stick Fighting for several years as well as assorted unarmed combat forms from my homeland."

The Holstein smiled as she drank some tea. "It's paying off. But keep in mind, as you advance, you will face opponents heavier than you and equally skilled."

Ms. Swimmer nodded. "I'll keep that in mind."

Sure enough, the reinforcements came. Invisible beams of energy lanced out from the arriving hovertanks. The demon stumbled backwards under the onslaught, parts of its skin dripped onto the ground, leaving behind puddles of molten glass.

One hovertank caught fire as a desperate heat blast from the demon overwhelmed its already strained cooling system for the laser cannon. The crew bailed out and ran to the repulsorsled to grab fire extinguishers.

Finally, another armored vehicle drove onto the scene. It trained its gun on the demon and fired an enormous blob of molten iron at the demon. The projectile passed right through the demon, but the sheer amount of heat energy in the projectile made the demon collapse onto the ground. To ensure it was dead, one of the soldiers drove the glowing blade of the plasma pole cutter into its head.

It screeched and thrashed as what looked like molten glass streamed out of the wound. And then it lay still.

The leader of the soldiers radioed Stripetail and Captain Carson. "The demon has been killed. Repeat, the demon has been killed." He turned to the remaining troops. "Load up that beast's carcass! Maybe the mage'll have some use for the thing."

Dixie tried what she could to keep her leg elevated. she had a queasy look on her face any time she glanced down to see a large portion of her leg encased in a thick block of ice." how long will that ice stay solid ?' She asked looking at Tigress " good question. i've never really kept track of how long my ice attacks linger. I'm guessing- and this is just a guess- that that should hold for an hour or so, before it starts to melt away I mean we are on a warm planet' Tigress said." Cynder should be here in a few minutes, and then we'll have her carry you to the heya. we should get thee shortly afterwards-an ghour or so"

Eris and liella found a two-rider pofd racer, and Laval found a solo rider ' the three of them soon joined eric out on the deser' race you guys to the spire" eris said ' Losers have to pay to get aboard' She said ' ready.. set go!' She said and li ella and laval shot off into the dunes.

Eric grinned and revved his engine. "You're on!" he challenged. "Let's do this!"

Before taking off, he turned to his friends. "Hey, you guys are all right. Thanks for being my friends," he said truthfully, before blasting the engines and blitzing for the stratosphere.

The soldiers deployed a crane from one of the repulsorsleds and began hooking up the still hot carcass of the demon to it. Several minutes later, they had strapped down the body and recovered any injured or dead personnel. The damaged hovertank had been extinguished but it was not suited for combat any more. It was placed in the center of the formation alongside the repulsorsleds.

The trolley Dixie Kitty and tigress were on stopped and Hex got on. ' mind if i sit here?' She asked kitty, before noticing Dixies leg " geez . what happened to her?' the sorceress asked , her face twisted in a grimace .' Sumo accident ' Dixie said wearily. ' my opponent fell on my leg.. and she was probably 400 pounds.. so you can guess what happened.' Broken huh? not fun, broken bones. I'm Hex, by the by. i'm racing with team skylanders in that ozai cup. just had the second race in Steele valley, it was a one lap race, but the lap was very long, took like an hour to complete ' hex said as she took a seat next to Dixie, who moved as best she could..'how did you do?" tigress asked , as flash looked at Hex Curiously " Don;t ask..' hex said, her fists balled up in frustration. '.02 seconds" thats how much we got outnudged by team seer.' she said finally. ' Wow thats close' Arlene said ' less than a second.." its a fraction of a second' hex said.' the length of one of my fingernails' thats how close it was..i take it you guys arent following the races?

My magic isnt geared towards healing and stripetail 's busy. i tried to contact him, and got nothing.

- Kopa and Kovu were both carrying boxes of purchases as they walked down the street in East steele ' Kovu had gotten a grooming kit for his mane and a history book on Mawashii. Kopa had gotten a large cookbook, and was looking for another thing to buy, something he could enjoy. His eye caught a large vendor area selling huge fruit pies.' try my pies! If you dont like em, throw them in my Face!' read the sign . the vendor came out to them. lemon crust clinging to his face ' hello gentlemen! Care to try one of my pies? first is always on the house!" the vendor whose name was Arnoc said. " last Pie I put in too many lemons, and well i'm picking pie crust of my hair ' said the human..'Give it a try bro? Kopa asked Kovu.." hmm.. hope you like eating blackberry pie , bro, because you'll be getting a faceful of it ' Kovu said a big grin on his face. "Oh Ho! A pie contest" arnoc said delightedly' I'll go fetch the pies . " How much are they?' Kopa asked ' 50 cents each" Arnoc said ' i've got lots of em, so throw away and eat away!" Hope you nlike" Kopa read the Pie Flavor. Snickerdoodle" he said with a big grin and he threw the pie square into kovus face. Kovu rtailiated with a big Strawberry Cream pie, and both guys laughed loudly as they wiped pie out of their faces.'Pies Not bad " Kopa said, as he grabbed another one..'

Balto watched as the two lion males were throwing pies at each other. Such a competition was not uncommon on Mawashi, though usually the ones involved cared more about eating the pies that hit them as opposed to nailing their opponents with pies. He watches as both lions fur got covered in fruit and other ingredients.

Captain Carson emerged from the public bathroom in Winterville. She entered Winterville Tavern and ordered a plate of catfish nuggets and some seltzer water.

The last race could only be described as ridiculous. She had won by less than a second and only by running the ship to such a degree that its engines were on the verge of catching fire.

The soldiers off-loaded the still warm carcass of the demon onto a smaller cart and then wheeled it off to the laboratories.

The damaged hovertank was quickly cleaned up and the workers proceeded to start repairing it.

One of the soldiers used the intercom on the wall to call Stripetail. "Stripetail," he said. "The demon's carcass has been sent to the science bay for analysis."

Stripetail replied.' he gestured and magically viewed the condition of the Glider and his face grew stern, and her turned on his walkie talkie ' Carson, I would like a word with you about my glider- and its current condition' Stripetail said.' its engine is quite damaged..'
- bring out what you have Cynder -W said.' think you can carry her to the heya ?" Kitty asked." well I'll need someone to help keep her stable' cynder said.' someone with 2 legs preferably, ' I'll go' Kitty offered. ' I've never ridden on a dragon, either, so that will be something to tell Tiger when I see him next."
Cynder-W looked at her and smiled " Just make sure to hold on tight, dont want you falling off, after all' she smirked." would be a long way to fall.' kitty shuddered.

make sure when we get to the heya that we have medical supplies ready for use ' Arlene said. as cynder-s looked warily at dixie, and noticed the ice pack on her leg was starting to melt and ran sown her leg and on to the floor.'better get her out of here before he ice pack melts completely.

"On my way!" Captain Carson said. She ordered the half-finished meal to be packed up and sent to her quarters.

She stepped outside and walked to the Winterville Inn and knocked on Stripetail's door. "Stripetail, I am present."

The scientists in the bay were working on examining the demon. Per Stripetail's orders, they had sealed samples of the demon's blood, skin, flesh and organs in vials which were then packed in an armored case to be hand-delivered to the mage.

One of the scientists was examining the demon's heart. To his surprise, the heart was actually a mixture of ceramic and carbon fibers. He jotted down the results.

Come in captain, have a seat ' stripetail said opening the door and motioning to a chair ' sit down please ' he said. he went over t his desk and gestured creating a magical image of the glider visible to Carson. which then turned red. " The reds area indicate damage, the deeper the red, the greater the damage.You've certainly been pushing the glider to the limits Captain' he said finally' At the rate you are pushing it, the engine will give out completely by race 4. Mandorian engines are ancient and rare, and repairing them if they get damaged takes a long time." he looked at her closely ' time I do not have to spare at the moment.not to mention that losing the engines will mean losing the races by forfeit and getting no points -you actually have to finish the race to get points. we have 8 races to go after this last one. we need to win about 4 more, to clinch first. but thats not going to happen if you keep pressing your luck. Look, Captain when the engine of the glider is pushed to its limits , it rapidly burns through its mana, and then begins drawing mana from the mage riding it, to keep it stable. since you are not a mage, there is no extra mana to draw from, so the engine gets damaged. Tiger, stitch Angel and Agumina have mana and powers of their own, so put them near the engine and have them cool down the engine and restore mana to the engine when necessary. that will leave ratchet and angela as offense and defense, but that cant be helped. now how much of a winning margin did you have in that last race?

Captain Carson took a seat. Stripetail did not seem too angry...much to her surprise.

"I apologize for the damage sustained," she said. "The crew is attempting to repair the glider and its internals as we speak."

She then cleared her throat. "We won by a margin of less than a second. As for the mana fuel, we are harvesting mana crystals from Mawashi. The races are rapidly depleting the ship's reserve of liquid mana harvested from Skylands and refined from the Mawashiian crystals. Can the Glider carry...say half a ton of mana crystals in the hold?"

The Mawashiian mana crystals were unusual in that they consisted of liquid mana surrounded by a glassy shell of hardened mana.

it can carry up to 5 tons of mana ' Stripetail said. ' it makes it go slightly slower through due to the added weight. Stripetail sighed' less than a second? Extremely close then." i understand you were trying to win of course,, just try and not push the reactor past level 8, if you can help it. Kopa and Kovu finished their pie contest, with Kovu getting the last few pies in. Bioth guys were covered in pie crusts and were howling with laughter, as they went to the front to pay for the pies, there had thrown at least 3 of each pie variety the owbner had, and he gave the dup towels to clean thmselves up with.' bro you socked me with the french silk pie; kopa said ' well i have cheery filling in my mane now.. might have kiara lick it out ' kovu smirked ' dude , girls arent alloeed in the male heyas ' kopa said..' dray.. guess i'll be hogging tub for cleaning myelf up..

Eric radioed his friends. "Cartman to other podracers, report positions." He was having trouble with the navigation console of his vehicle, having never been trained to fly this sort of thing. Not to mention humans weren't normally capable of flying podracers to begin with. "Anyone locate the Spire of Winter? Over."

The spire is 340 miles away, at our current speed, she should be there is a little over an hour, if we dont run into any storms or any other hazards. it was nice meeting you as well Eric. we dont have your kind on Chima..' Liella added." there are worlds without humans, after all..
