Insane Cafe 4: The Insane Frontier

Your Majesty" Kopa began " We do not have much time. within- HE looked at the window at the timer "18 minutes- this planet is going to be  hit,  from the  sky by enormous rocks, in enormous numbers. To Stay here.. would be certain death. Your people, look to you to lead them, and will look to you in the trying times to come. but you will not be there to guide them. if you do not leave with us. immediately. Is there a safe place nearby that we can take you?' asked the Redmaned lion " we really do not have much time to debate this. We have only minutes to decide on what to do."

 Stripetail touched the rejiggered Amplifier and his eyes glowed, as he sensed the great magic being built up wothin ' Shielum, magi. Umbris. Terraforum- which translated means," shield cover all the EArth. his Paws Glowed white hot and  beam of pure mana shot out from the device, amplified by the wizards own.  the magic reached a hieight of perhaos a mile over the town. and began to spread out, forming a white dome that expanded out over the town.  the shield would block, or redirect, any meteors that approached the town.. but this was not just a shield to cover one small town.. it would.. in time, cover the entire continent, deflecting or stopping meteors '  stripetail radioed carson " i .. have cast a shield spell that will .. eventually cover all of weynard.  It will take, anywhere from 6 hours to a full day. it all depends on how the natural magic if Weynard is affcted by the impacts from the meteors. It.. has take a lot out of me.. this is not an easy spell to cast, and requires a great deal of magical strength to pull off. Nevertheless, it must be done. You must take all measure to fight off the strikes.. and you must not slacken when the shield ciovers your area. indeed you must redouble your efforts' Stripetail out.

Emperor Unan looked towards the sky and then back at Kopa. "I must concede defeat to this mysterious phenomenon. No Psyenergy can alter that marking in the sky."

"We can head to the Lonely Island Ruins," Lady Hinechou said. "That should provide us protection until this event passes."

"But it will be dangerous. We must arm ourselves accordingly!" Prince Ryu said.

Lady Hinechou turned to one of her handmaidens. "Fetch us our weapons and do not dally."

The handmaiden bowed and left the room.

Captain Carson nodded. She had powered down all the non-vital sections of the ship to lift-off faster. The industrial sector had been completely shut down. Unfortunately, there were still several minutes to go before liftoff and Tonfon had not been completely evacuated.

Deimos, Ms. Swimmer, Dr. Zanasiu, Dr. Kerzach and Zachary were assisting Tyrell in evacuating Tonfon.

"Is that everyone?" Dr. Zanasiu asked.

Tyrell racked his brain. "Almost. We need to hit the western part."

Hurry then " Kovu said as a servant poured tea for them.
_ Stripetail sighed as he saw the shield reached the sea and  stretch out into the distance " ah.. the Global Shield Spell. An Oldie but a goodie" ha ha ha. But it takes so MUCh energy to create and sustain, and unfortunately for you, by the time your shield will reach most of the planet,  there wont be much left to protect anyway. But continue on your way, you always have in our past encounters" mertavius appeared astride an enormous  brown dragon " samanor " stripetail groaned the strain evident in his voice " indeed, Mage' Samanor spoke in an imperious voice. " it appears you are not the mage you once were, You've been behind in this contest from the beginning. And Do you really think a Shield spell is going to stop a asteroid 100 miles across from carving a hole a mile deep and 20 miles wide in the middle of that town? Magic can only stop magic. It cant stop energy. speed or gravity. And You know this, wizard, you've been around long enough. You are only weakening yourself in a futile effort to save this backwater" stripetail eyes flashed and he casted a bolt of fire at Samanor  ,   who got hit smack in the face, and caused him and Mertavouus to  fall backwards  head over heels and plummet towards the ocean below. before finally stabilizing themselve and returning to their previous location. . Blood Gushed from Samanors mnouth where he had been struck."Imprudent in  your folly, but well, My master and I have bigger plans for you. In due time , Wizard. " Rage wont save your friends stripetail. like say. the Lions you sent to save the Local royalty.."I have a few comets with their names on them. I likely misspelled them, but no matter. its the THOUGHt That counts. You have 15 minutes left. Start writing those ": i regret to inform you" Notes. You'll be sending a LOT of them" mertavius grinned.

The handmaidens returned with the weapons after five minutes. Both Emperor Unan and Lady Hinechou wielded a set of swords that came as a set. Prince Ryu already had has saber at hand.

Emperor Unan unsheathed his sword and held it aloft in symbolic defiance to the countdown timer looming in the skies overhead. "Lead the way!"

Sveta nodded as she turned to Kovu's group.

Fourteen minutes later,  Tyrell's group met up in what was once Tonfon's shipbuilding district.

"That's everyone!" Tyrell exclaimed. He was partially correct in that they had evacuated everyone who wanted to leave. Those who refused to leave, they let them be. Both out of respect for their autonomy and because convincing or forcing them to leave took too much time.

Deimos nodded. "Good!" He pointed to the last remaining shuttle. "Everyone in! We've got like a minute left!"

Captain looked at the clock on the wall. Less than a minute left and the engines were still not at full power. She bit her lip as she watched the status bar climb towards full power at an agonizing rate.

Tarrax, Korin, Samia, Dulcy, Cynder-S and spyro _s were waiting out the spire of winter and Warfang and spyro_W  reached them ' alright, listen  up, ladies and gentledragons. we are going to destroy or deflect as many of the meteors as possible. those you can destroy, destroy. ice, fire, lightning, whatever you have at your disposal.  if they are too big, deflect them into the water, or possibly off planet, one of the perks of being a flatworld, as the chances of avoiding impacts are higher.Given that mertavius is behind this, we are going to be very hard put  to it indeed."
 Kovu led them royal party out to the courtyard where a pair of racers with side cars were waiting. ' Sveta, you are riding with Vitani and me " kopa said ' Kovu, take the Emperor and Empress in your racer and go ahead of us.   We's got 13 minutes to get out of here, and its going to be very  nip and tuck..
_ kovu helped Unan and Hinechou climb into the side car, then climbed onto the the racer and revved the engine. Kiara, what everyou do, don;t let go of me ' Kovu said, a  undercurrent of worry in his voice as he took off out of the palace and heade up the coast on a dirt path ' kovu sped up to  over 100 mph in just a couple seconds ' ' locate Loney Island Ruins " Kovu said in a clear voice " the  rider glowed and a computerized voice " answered ' Lonely island ruins are 197.5 miles  to the north of your current location, estimated time of arrival at current speed is 80 minutes." EIGHTY  minutes! Kovu exclaimed ' thats not going to cut it!" He shouted at the racer "Go Faster! "I Require magic to speed up, you know, and It would not hurt you to say please. "Please" Kovu said through gritted teeth. " we need to get to Lonely Islands BEFORE a swarm of space rocks flatten us like pancakes! so.. try for 30 minutes.." then you will need to go 400 mph.. just.. dont hit anything. Otherwise we;ll all be pancakes.

Scooby and Dixie helped the last evacuees board the shuttle  and Dixie looked up, at the Sky " We've got 1:24 left guys" She shouted  in the direction of Tiger and tigeress  who sped over towards the Shuttle. MetalGarurumon Turned the corner, carrying angel and stitch. Gabuna And WargreyWomon followed , and Wargreymon ws the last  to arrive, entering the shuttle with just 31 seconds to spare" Ok< thats everyone ' gabumon said after returning to his normal form, and he lay against the side of the shuttle, sweat pouring down his face in rivulets.

 stripetail weatched the last seconds tick off the counter, and as the  counter hit 0 the first rocks came burning through the atmosphere. they wee small, and few in number, but Stripetail was not fooled.  there was only minutes left now before the assault began in earnest ' Get Ready!" He called out as the Dragon flew oveghead in formatuion

It was not a moment too soon that the engines reached full power. Captain Carson shunted all power to the repulsorlifts and the great starship began to climb into the sky.

The first few meteors that came were easily dealt with by the ship's point-defense laser cannons. But she knew that things were going to get far worse. The virtual windshield showed that they were still within Weyard's atmosphere but Tonfon's buildings were little more than specks. The shuttles that were the last to evacuate soared into the sky, easily overtaking the starship.

"Stripetail," Captain Carson said into her radio. "Spire of Winter is now off the ground but still within the atmosphere. We need about fifteen seconds more to fully leave the atmosphere."

Prince Ryu and his sister Hou Jou were with Sveta and Vitani. Prince Ryu's heart raced as they dodged the meteors that threatened to kill them.

Emperor Unan had sheathed his sword and settled into a medatative position in an attempt to keep calm and distract himself from the blistering speeds they were going at.

the boulders dropped faster and faster  with each passing minute. impact followed by impact, the shudfdering  as the planet roiled from blast after blast threw up the racers, and caused them, to fly off the trail. ' kovu swore as he tried to avoid running into trees and brush ast the great speed he was traveling " hang on hang on " kovu  hissed, as he strained to keep the rider level. his paws began to glow from the magic in the suit and began to turn red.

 kitty was helping refugees find places to sleep for the night..' tigfer had been called to assist sly and carmelita in directing comings and going . with so many newcomers, the next few daysa who be very very long ones.
 Thjey are starting to come down in earnest. you need to get to space as fast as possible ' stripetail said as a volley of large meteors struck his shield and were deflected away towards the edge of the planet' stripetail focused and the shield held, as wave  upon wave of larger and larger rocks tore through the weynardian atmosphere, and interacted with the powerful shield forcing the squirrell mage  to expend copious amounts of magic to deflect the huge rocks.

The ship finally exited the Weyardian atmosphere as several of the meteors shot past it. A large meteor that was heading straight for the ship was pulverized as the Spire of Winter's railgun fired, hitting the meteor with an iron cannonball at reentry speeds.

Captain Carson then sent out a general alert. "All pilots and space-capable crew report to the vehicle bay. All gunners, weapons on full power and fire at will!"

The Tonfonese refugees were mostly housed in the Winterville Park as well as the artificial beach. Those who couldn't fit in those locations were housed in the vehicle bay, the medical bay and even the hallways. The workers in the tavern and diner in Winterville got to work cooking up simple and free meals for everyone.

Dr. Kerzach hastily raced in with a cart several blocks of tofu the size of concrete blocks. He turned to Nick. "Nick, we've got a lot of mouths to feed," he said. He grabbed a cleaned machete and began carving up the blocks. "Thankfully we've got plenty of supplies from Mawashi.

Another worker was carrying an enormous radish to be chopped up and used for soup.

"Fire em' up, Kovu!" Kiara grinned as she was using her own elemental powers. Her paws were covered in what looked like gloves made of water as she held them over the engine to keep the temperature down on the vehicle. "Can't let this overheat."

"Here it is mom," Oliver mewed, bringing over the ice cream scoop to his mother and their friends.

Sara was in space above the world.  She had on a live support belt that took care of protecting her from the harshness of space.  She had already done a spell to take care of keeping her air supply fresh.  She was using spells, and dragon fire, teaming up with Wargrowlmon & Jason to deflect meteors from the sector of space they were in, Jason having selected an area they could easily do this within.

Jason, in his dragon form, was using a dragon size blaster cannon with goggles on, tied to a computer to give him a heads up display of the best angle to shoot which meteor at to deflect it away from the planet.  Wargrowlmon was, like Sara, doing much the same, though he was using his fire power when needed, here & there.

Ratchet flew Aphelion  out the docking bay and into the space above the planets. it quickly became apparently that  huge meteors were racinf towards the planet ' geez ' angela said from the back seat. theres a TON of those things headed our way, and they're HUGE. we cant possibly shoot all of them down, and we cant sit back and let the wizard do all of the work from the surface." Well We make sure the shuttles make it safely to the ship, and we knock out any that get in range. try and make less work for the dragons down there>" ratchet Said,
 Tigeress  and agumina helped gabuna get to her feet and  made room for her on thier side of the shutrle ' well we should  be reaching the ship in a couple minutes ; agumion said as they huddled together. ' then we'll have to find places for everybody ' ' theres a LOT of people in tonfon, a lot more than I expected. we did a good job getting as many out as possible in the very short time given us>' agumon added." we'll head to our rooms and try and make the most of things, Gabumon and gabuna you asre welcome to stay with us.' Both the dog digimon nodded.

 vitani was trying out her wind powwers and found she could create a nice calming breeze with little effort

"We almost there?" Kiara called to Kovu as she held on tight, using her water powers to keep the temperature of the engines down. She knew this was a race against the clock, and they had to hurry to make it out of here safely.

"Enjoy the food," Shoukichi said to the ones who had been brought to the ship from the planet, "Are homeworld of Mawashi's food is quite filling."

Captain Fairchild, Rainbow, Lt. Martin and Major Lockie had flown out from the vehicle bay. The two fighters carried laser guided missiles as bombs were unusable in space.  Major Lockie and Captain Fairchild opted to use their cannons.

"Get ready!" Rainbow said over the radio. She fired several explosive projectiles from her wing-root mounted 25 mm autocannon, pushing a smaller asteroid below Weyard, where the intense radiation quickly vaporized the offending rock.

Major Lockie blasted a boulder to rubble with his 105 mm cannon.

Several shuttles containing a minimal crew joined them. They used their autocannons to push the larger asteroids away or to destroy the smaller ones.

A large asteroid exploded into chunks of rock as the Spire of Winter hit it with its railgun. The smaller point defense lasers quickly reduced the pieces into rubble. The ship's mining laser struck another, smaller asteroid, causing it to explode.

we're within 100 miles ' kovu said, as thud after thud, showed that the meteors were getting through. the impacts coaused hot purple magma to shoot up into the atmosphere, which was roiling from the friction of the meteors hitting it and gloqwing white hot. kovu  cut on to an intacvt section of trail and headed out into a clearing, which revealed an expanse of water ' crap'' they're literal islands ' kovu said ' does this thing have a boat mode or a plane mode?  because i canmt drive over water ' yes you can, you just drive as normal' the computer replied, just dont stop, at any point

 dixie and scooby's shuttle reached the spire and the doos unloaded their  load of refugees.. nearly 1000 strong. the corridors of the spire were completely filled with peoplem, looking for places to stay.
- Tarrax incinerated a huge boulder that was headed towards the middle of the continent. stripetail's shield spell was slowly spreading across the continent, and now covered about 100 miles , from Champa champ to Tempe ruins.

 Tiger and tigeress headed in along with the Tonfonese they had rescued, the sounds of chatter filing the hallway as they walked. most of the tonfonese wre exclusively magic creatures and wer not used to much technology as a result.

Lt. Martin and three shuttles poured autocannon fire into an asteroid, pushing it off course where it harmlessly flew past Weyard.

Captain Fairhild let loose a volley of rockets that blew up an asteroid that was about to hit Tonfon.

Rainbow and two other shuttles used their autocannons to successfully nudge an asteroid aimed at Weyard into the solar stream below the planet where it was vaporized.

"Nick!" Dr. Kerzach called. "How are we doing on the food supply?" He was busy ladling out portions of tofu stew for the Tonfonese refugees.

Two workers rushed by with a stack of empty plates to be washed.

Ms. Swimmer ushered some of the refugees to their temporary location in Winterville Beach. The hotel was filled to capacity with three, four or even five people per room and the conference rooms, gym and hallways pressed into service as bedrooms.

Mr. Bigmouth was still not entirely recovered from his mana burns but he was busy directing traffic. Indeed, there were so many refugees that some had even resorted to setting up camps on the streets of Winterville.

Tyrell was assisting the Tonfonese in getting them settled.

Sveta launched an explosive ball of lightning at an incoming meteor, knocking it off course.

Neither Lady Hinechou nor Emperor Unan were Adepts but their weapons were enchanted and capable of unleashing attacks that looked remarkably like spells.

She hissed as a blast of lava scorched her arm.

we're about  75 miles away ' Kopa said as he drew level with Kovu's racer the sea was roiled by huge waves as a result of the impact from meteors either hitting the ocean directly or being deflected into the ocean by magic  or  the various other defenses.  huge waves  rose and fell  and providing only a narrow window for the two machines to pass through kopa estimated  they would reach the islands in about 20 minutes, if they were lucky

 we're nearly out of tofu stew ' Nick reported ' and we need more bread for rolls as well. we've got a lot more mouths to feed than at any of the iterations of the cafe

 Both spyros were using  ice attacks on the incoming meteors which were bigger and bigger with each passing wave. while most of Weynard was water, this did not minimize entirely the damage the repeated strikes wee causing. the lens  and the votrex beneath the planet could only destroy so much. skylamds and warfang were tag teaming on a large rocky meteior. the air around them  was extremely hot from all the rocks creating friction.

 laval, Eris and LI'ella were helping tonfonese set up camp in the park and laying doen bedtime rules, such as lights in the tent camps had to be off at midnight
_ Scooby agumon, tiger  Gabumon and thier partners met in a side room at the winterville tavern. scooby was nursing a soda, and gabubna looked very tired, and was fiddling with a plate of fries.

Dr. Kerzach watched as a man used a crowbar to pry open a 55 gallon drum of miso and use a shovel to transfer the savory paste into a massive cooking pot.

"Good thing Mr. Bigmouth picked up some spare Mawashian cooking supplies," Dr. Kerzach said. Since the kitchen of the diner and the tavern were far too small to accommodate the massive cooking pots and utensils, a large, open-air kitchen had been established in Winterville Park near the shrine to Ozai that had been commissioned for the religious practices of the few Mawashian crew members who had accompanied them.

"Nick, we'll have to harvest some fresh Mawashian seaweed as well as plenty of other crops from the agricultural area. Mind giving me a hand?" Dr. Kerzach asked.

"I'm hit! I'm hit!" Half of Captain Fairchild's right wing had been torn off by a meteor. Thankfully, not only could he fly completely missing a wing; he didn't even need them in the vacuum of space.

Soon, the meteors were so large that not even Major Lockie's cannon could fully destroy them. Nevertheless, he fired his 105 mm cannon and successfully split an asteroid in two. Half of it soared off into space but the other half was headed straight for an island outside of Stripetail's shield.

"Someone, blast that meteor before it lands!" His shout was broadcast over everyone's radio.

"Are we almost there?" Kiara called to Kovu as she was using her water powers to keep the engines cool as they thundered down the path. They knew the time on the clock was running out for getting out of the danger zone.

"There's a lot of people on the ship now," Oliver noticed as he ate ice cream with his family and friends. "Even more then what I got on board."

certainly ' Nick said, as he went over to a large oven and started its preheat function. ' any food they bring along with, we'll throw in.. we have a lot of folks to feed. after this bombardment, we'll bneed to contact other worlds to send aid ' skylands. digiworld. pokeworld. anywhere that can send supplies. we have tens of thousands of mouths to feed.

 theb meteors was hit was a blast of white hot fire from tarraxs maw. the magical fire within the dragon  was hot enough to incinerate the huge rock into a fine ash. ' got it' tarrax roared. '  head north, theres a swarm of meteors coming in , and that has the possibility of creating huge tsunamis.

 korin nodded ' we'll head up by those mountains there' she pointed '  dulcy and i will take those  rocky meteors, while Sara and Samia can take those metallic ones. '
 Spyro-s-  landed , or more accurately, crashed nearby, his maw caked with dirt mixed with blood. ' theres.. so many- the noble Skylander gasped, as  he stumbled to his feet.'  above with Spyro- and Cynder_w wee combining thier rings and natural magic to destroy as many rocks as possible.

  the waters  splashed up in the faces of Kovu and Kopa, as well as their pasangers,, the boys  were thankful for the armor, otherwise they would be absolutely soaked and miserable.. the sea ahead of began to rise as the lake was struck by a falling rock ' think of something ' Vitani shouted over to kovu..' wind isnt going to stop us getting swamped by a big wave.' neither is earth' kopa said' fire can' kovu ' and i can control water kiara said ' just dont ask to give you guys baths. thats your own problems.' I wasnt asking for a bath' Vitani smirked as a huge metallic rock smashed into the pond roughly about 1000 meters ahead of them. and the water rose upwards in an extreme,ly rapid manner, forming a towering wave. ' FIre! kovu roared. his ring glowed brightly and and a stream of  yellow light  shoot out of his paw and in to the oncoming wave,  the heat from the fire carved out a valley and opening in the water' make towards that opening ! kovu said, desperation evident in his voice. ' vitani created a gust od wind that  served as a sort of shield kovu and kops burst through the hole which cosed after them, and the valley of water revealed in the distance a  a pair of ruined arched estimate arrival, 10 minutes at current speed ' the machine announced. kopa took the lead briefly ' we are going to writing a few ' thank you' notes to stripetail after this  is over ' Kopa said ' these armors are lifesafers, literally"  he turned to his royal passengers' we're nearly there ' he said '

Dr. Kerzach hopped aboard a repulsorsled. "Mawashi too. Maybe we can see if we can get some supplies from Earth."

Two workers were using oars to stir a massive pot of miso soup.

Dr. Kerzach soon arrived at the agricultural area. Despite it being inside the starship, it was actually more like a park than a greenhouse.  Indeed, there was even the scent of seawater from the seaweed growth tanks.

The Cassowary turned to Nick. "Nick, I'll go harvest the seaweed while you can get the soybeans for the tofu." He climbed onto the harvester crane that would cut the seaweed and automatically place them baskets.

The metallic meteors were proving much harder to destroy. The only weapon that was capable of shattering them was the Spire's railgun. But the mining laser had proven to be quite useful by explosively vaporizing metal from the meteors, which provided enough counterthrust to push them off-course.

Instead, the living planes focused to blasting apart the rocky meteors.

Captain Fairchild expended all his ammunition to push a metal meteor away from Weyard. He felt his cannon switch over to the secondary ammunition store that Stripetail had given him.

Major Lockie's 105 mm cannon fired its last shell as he blasted apart a rocky meteor. His 40 mm cannons were barely suitable for destroying meteors and the 20 mm cannons were only usable for pushing meteors away.

Meanwhile, a few saboteurs flitted out of the Pheonix and headed for the Spire of Winter. They were former military spacers who had turned to piracy and other unsavory means to earn money. Chong had hired them from some shady space station a few hundred light-years back.
