Mr. Bigmouth shook his head. "Third and fourth degree burns all over his body. He's currently on a dose of painkillers many times the lethal dose for a being of his weight. Were he not immortal, I dare say that we wouldn't even have a body to recover."

Stripetail was wheeled out of the operating room and into a special room for burn victims. The room was heated to what Stripetail's approximate body temperature was due to his inability of regulate their body temperature. A specialized antigravity field based off the repulsorlifts that the ship used to take off from the ground kept him suspended in midair so nothing would stick to his burns.

"We've done all we can," the lead doctor said to Tarrax. "You may stay and keep vigil over him. Tomorrow, we will see how well he has progressed. Hopefully in the time it takes to warp to Polaris, he will have healed enough for us to begin skin grafts from the tissue sample we got from him."

Fourth degree ? I thought third degree was the worst you can get?' Nick started." so, he's going to be in the medical wing for awhile huh."

 thank you doctor." He turned to Korin and Samia. Keep an eye on him. I must go see captain Carson and plot out the strategy for the next couple weeks. " Can they at least give us something more to read than Highlights?' Samia asked " I've already found all of the hidden things." I'll go to the bookstore and bring your ladies back something.' Oh! Well , then i'll take a copy of draconus investorurs; magical dragon invention throughout history' Korin said. ' I'll see if I can find it " tarrax said. " and you, my dear?'  Kovu stirred from his sleep and went over to the door of the room s he and Kiara were in. " time to go rejoin the others ' He yawned.

"I had a good night's sleep," Kiara nodded and yawned, getting up and letting her eyes adjust to the light. She then put on her gear.

"Let's go find Kopa and Vitani," the lioness suggested, "They'll get us up to speed on what's happening." She stretched a bit, her body feeling good after getting to sleep in.

"Shall we go to one of the shrines after we eat?" Shoukichi asked Kiyo, "According to the clock it's almost the bowing hour back on Mawashi. After our meal we should show our king the proper respect."

Mr. Bigmouth nodded. "Indeed," he said.

It was then that the waiter arrived with their food. Rice porridge with preserved vegetables and seaweed for Ms. Swimmer; fish and chips for Dr. Zanasiu and Dr. Kerzach; veggie burger and fries for Mr. Bigmouth; seared catfish fillet for Deimos.

"Well, Captain Carson and Tarrax should be meeting up soon," Dr. Zanasiu said as he sprinkled vinegar over his meal.

Indeed, the Mawashiian shrine was busy being prepared for the Bowing Hour. Cushions were set up and the great statue of the god-king of Mawashi was being decorated and cleaned up.

Great offerings of food were placed in front of the statue. Being practkical sorts, the food was symbolically consumed by the spirit of Ozai while the worshipers ate the physical remains of the food. Indeed, one of the offerings was a massive bowl of steaming hot chankonabe -- the traditional food of sumo wrestlers.

Tarrax headed out of the medical wing, intent on meeting with Carson prior to going shopping for Samia and Korin.  He turned down an alleyway, and gestured a magical image appearing in front of him, and showing where Carson was. Tarrax headed to the left, towards the captains quarters ' Captain" He said into the image ' I would like a few minutes of your time to discuss matters in my masters absence. we will need to plan for him to be out a minimum of two weeks. "

 Nick took his order of fries and fish and began eating them. Arlene arrived to refill drinks.

Tyrell and Karis entered the tavern and took a seat with the group.

"Hello," Ms. Swimmer said as she ate her porridge. "Where's Sveta?"

"She's with Emperor Unan and the leaders of the cities we've evacuated from Weyard as well as the Vaalbaran leaders. They're finishing up the memorial service as we speak," Tyrell replied.

"Shouldn't we attend?" Mr. Bigmouth asked.

"It's for the Vaalbarans and Weyardians only."

Sveta was on the podium and addressing the enormous crowd of Weyardians and Vaalbarans. She swallowed the lump in her throat as she began to speak.

"Friends, comrades, allies we are all gathered here to mourn the loss of Weyard and Vaalbara. While they are still present, the titanic forces unleashed have rendered them uninhabitable. But fear not, the Exathi from beyond Weyard and the Seer have pledged to help us. We will not bow down to Mertavius!"

Captain Carson looked at the magical image. She had bags under her eyes and her uniform was a mess. As for her hat, it was askew on her head. Regardless, she straightened out her uniform as best she could but it was still obvious that she had not gotten much sleep.

"I understand, Tarrax," she said into the magical image. "I will be in the meeting room in a bit after I get myself in a more presentable looking state."

Of Course, Captain " Tarrax said ' I'll give you 10-15 minutes to freshen up, I wager most of us have not gotten much sleep over the past few hours. My master has left you a recorded message on a crystal. I believe he had it  delivered to your room. " Tarrax said "I will take a seat outside your room once I arrive , open the door when you are ready"

And what of the Seer?' Asked one of  the Vaalbarans ' surely if Mertavius can toss our planets around like toys, then the Seer can restore the damage? I would also like to know what plans he has for us, until we can return to Vaalbara to resume living on it? and where is he, anyway? has anyone seen him? I would very much like to hear him speak to us, now that our worlds have been pulled from the brink."

Murmurs of discontent soon began to spread through the crowd as they realized that they may have been sentenced to wander the stars for centuries. Sveta, King Unan and the Vaalbaran diplomat all called for calm.

"From what has been reported, the Seer has been severely injured and will be unconscious for the next two weeks," Sveta said. "I am sure he will explain everything once he regains consciousness."

Captain Carson emerged from her quarters holding the aforementioned crystal. Her new uniform was freshly pressed and laundered and her hat and hair now befit the captain of the great starship. Unfortunately, the bags beneath her eyes remained. Still, a strong cup of tea would help.

"Lead the way, Tarrax," she said as she shut the door behind her.

tarrax motioned at the crystal, and it began to glow ' let us listen to the message as we walk along." He said  as he began walking down the hall. an image of Stripetail appeared in front of them " Hello Captain. by the time you receive this message, I will have used the Lens, and will, most probably, be incapacitated as a result. I will be 'out of action' for some time, and so there are a number of matters we must address in that time period.

 First, We must keep the spirits of the refugees from Weynard and Vaalbara up, as while my actions will have prevented the planets' destruction, much damage has been inflicted all the same. I can restore the magical and natural damage to both worlds , but the disruption to the lives of its residents is something only time and safety can mend. They will be coming along  with us for a good length of time; months, at the minimum, although a year or two is not out of the realm of possibility. Request supplies from upcoming worlds tailored to their needs, for Weynard, they will need magical supplies, things that remind themselves of home, but which give them resolve, as well as hope. Hope, after all, is what we hold on to, even in our darkest hours, trusting in the fates that things will be better in the morrow. Vaalbarans  will need suits to allow them to survive in worlds different from their own, to allow them to make contact and trade with other worlds.

Second, the hunt for Chong must continue, as long as he controls  the Phoenix and makes trouble across the cosmos, he is a problem that must be dealt with. He is currently in Polaris, we must find him , defeat him, and deal with him  Until I recover from my injuries, Tarrax will be my stead. consult with him, as you would with me. Spend as needed to provide for everyone, if you dont have the money, send the bill to me, and I will cover it, once I recover.

Third, make contact and allies with the leaders of Polaris. this is a galaxy of technology, although there are some worlds where magic is prevalent. It is. generally, a peaceful and safe place, so some down time for everyone to recover from the recent ordeal is something I recommend. We will have come through a very trying and testing ordeal, and survived , against great odds , and great evil. Mertavius will doubtlessly press the attack against us with me in this weakened condition, so be ready for trouble. I have recorded a second message, for my team. Give the crystal to Scooby and make sure the team gets my instructions. they will need to rely on each other more than ever during this time. And Captain, I would be remiss if I did not commend you for your conduct and leadership during this period. I will be writing a glowing recommendation to your superiors when this  journey is over. Hopefully , it will be enough to earn you a promotion in rank and a raise in pay. You have surely earned both.  Any questions you may have, submit them to Tarrax." Stripetail finished and the image disappeared.  Tarrax looked at Carson.' well, my master thinks highly of you captain. any immediate questions?"

Captain Carson nodded. The suits could easily be manufactured in the ship's industrial sector. Indeed, the Vaalbaran refugee ship was actually coming with them. No longer was she a captain, but she could be considered an admiral. Albeit an admiral with a tiny fleet of starships. The Spire was already at maximum capacity but morale seemed to be holding steady.

She jotted down some notes on the PDA she had: buy supplies as needed, chart a path to Polaris and prepare to do battle with Chong.

"Tarrax," she said as the duo entered one of the hallways of the ship where an impromptu Tonfonese storytelling session was being held. "The magical goods that the Weyardians request. I am unfamiliar with those items and require assistance in purchasing and acquiring them.

And it was indeed, many of the Tonfonese and Belinskovites had erected traditional buildings in the park out of prefabricated materials from the ship. Indeed, it appeared as if a small town had appeared in the Winterville Park. And of course, the Winterville Tavern had also begun serving traditional meals from both cultures. It wasn't much, but those little touches helped remind them of home.

Indeed, Vande and his troupe were performing in the amphitheater to the delight of Vaalbarans, Belinskovites, Tonfonese, Mawashiians and Spirarians alike.

Of course, Captain " Tarrax replied ' I'll inquire with the Dragonmalin Council about charity supplies, our world is very magical and has lots of magical objects and supplies and we set some aside for magical worlds in need. Skylands is another possibility, and there are magical worlds in Polaris. we'll see if those have anything for sale, although I'd imagine they will. We'll ask the weynardians exactly what they want."

Tigeess and Luca did their patrols, with Mona and flash riding on their backs " When we take a break in the next galaxy i need to introduce to you my folks alamaron and sunscar. they are somewhere in this throng, but i can find them.They'll spoil Mona, for sure." Like she needs any more spoiling, what with all you and Tiger have given her. "Luca smiled. "But I'll be happy to meet your folks, I'm sure they are nice wolves."I'll say you are my girlfriend, thats simple enough.' Secretary , too.' luca added." But for now lets just continue on the patrol, catch up with the others.'gabuna and dixie waved the pair over to a side street, they had bought a number of soft pretzels as a snack from a vendor.

"The ship also has a magical chamber for research purposes as well. I admit that it is very seldom used as we usually do not have mages on our crew here," Captain Carson replied. She then looked at the time on her PDA.

"If you'll excuse me, Tarrax, I have to plot a course to Polaris. It was a pleasure meeting with you." She saluted the great dragon as befitting his rank.

Of course, there were issues that arose as well. Like the medics who were treating some Spirarian troopers who decided to engage in a testosterone fueled contest to see who could drink the most Tonfonese green tea. Needless to say, the magical tea did not agree with the non-magical soldiers. One of them was a Wolverine who had his coat turn an unpleasant purple and green polka dot shade. And the other was a Human who had ended up turned into a block of crystal.

of course captain" Tarrax nodded in her direction. "I must go find Scooby and the others. then I have some things to get for Sara, Korin and Samia. Sara wants some scale shine' Tarrax chuckled.

Li'ella followed Vitani down the street, the pair were watching different sections of the town -Vitani the refugee camp,Li'ella the eastern part of town- but this was an area whee their patrols lined up. the Chima princess and pridelander queen were taking the time to talk and get acquainted as well. " so your brother crushed laval in that eating contest a awhile ago.' Li'ella said." yes, Kovu's got a stout gut." Vitani nodded then  looked up and watched as Dulcy and Warfang flew past. 'Anything to report from up there?' Li'ella called out. " nope" Dulcy said. Things look good from up here. they are building a small hamlet in the park for the weynard folks. A Nice breeze , along with a warm temperature and nice flying company. things could be far worse. " she's challenging me to another golf outing" Warfang grinned." A Foursome with Skylands and Samia." Five, you're forgetting Ember.""Better have Korin come along then, make it 3 on 3' Warfang said. " well I'm sure you guys have your break all planned out then ' Vitani said " Nothing much to report on the ground though. Just discussing Chima with Li'ella here. the lions palling around with Eagles, sounds kinda like how Kion's set up the Guard back home, he's gotten several different species to work with him. " We make it work' Li'ella said. Vitani had told Li'ella about her friend Vushu, and Li'ella had talked to her about Eris. 'Carry on then girls ' Warfang said, as Skylands flew past creating 'sky directions'. Ember was changing them into different colors, as per her fancy. '

 Kopa turned around as he heard him name called.Kovu ran up to him, wearing his armor."Took me awhile to find you bro, just woke up a little bit ago. I'm here to help. Whats our mission?' Checking in with the refugees, make sure they have shelter, supplies and any other things they might need. "Like Fire-charmed Potion Cauldrons"Laval said coming up with a list in his claws ' Oh i can do that' Kovu said creating fireballs in his ckaws ' Ok, go to tent 12, theres a pair of Tonfonese who need fireballs put into a potion brew."Laval said. On it." Also , Ratchet and Angela may need some help in tent 3, thees pillows that need organizing.' Kopa said.

Dixie walked past workers cleaning up a statue of Ozai, while munching on her pretzel " Hey Dixie!' she heard a familar voice calling her. ' It was Kitty, carrying both oliver and Ollie on her shoulders, and wearing a lighter shade of purple than normal. 'Hi Kitty. I see Arlene has you on kitten duty."Dixie said as Kitty walked up to her. "Well, she's serving food at the stall again, and Luca wasnt available, so she asked me to do it. Ollie wanted to go to a movie, but the theaters closed for repairs. So i'm just carrying these two kiddos around , until i can find something they might like to do. I'm trying the shrine for now, although I dont think bowing at huge statues of Ozai will keep the kids occupied for 10 hours. I mean Oliverrs a fan of Ozai- He's shown me about 30 pictures he's drawn of him- but I don;t think even he will be interested in that' Kitty said. " Well, there;s a new Kids play area opening up at the end of the park down there"Dixie pointed to the South " theres a Bouncy House and a lazy river. they're planning on a roller coaster, but thats not finished yet. "Now I think they are offering an Ozai bobblehead to all kids who go to the play area today. have fun." Both Kittens cheered at the news. Kitty's dark red lips locked with Dixie's dark red lips, and the duo held the kiss for a minute.Kitty rubbed tongues with Dixie for the last fifteen seconds of the kiss, then pulled away, her tongue sliding out of Dixie's mouth. "remember, girlie. Desert Domintrax, in the purple bottle. they have red, green and blue as well, but purple is the largest in size.  and , besides, purples my favorite>' Kitty smiled. "catch you later for the bumper car beatdown. But for now, I've gotten kittens to spoil out of all reason." She smiled and  turned to the south,  where a big sign  reading "Mawashii Play Area" stood offer an area with bumper cars, ring toss, and several food stands, with mawashii portions of course. Pollie's mouth watered as they passed a hot dog stand.

Agumina tapped Dixie on her shoulder " the shrine master needs more incense for his personal shrine."Ah, Right. Lead the way Agumina" Dixie said."Gabuna is on the other side of the shrine, checking in with the residents.We'll help her once we help the shrine master." Dixie and Agumina held claws as they headed to the main part of the shrine.

Vushu and Sima were looking for a 'chair book' for Sima. she wanted to find yet more ways to impress her dream prince ' You couldnt go for the Lioness Sutra?' Vushu asked ' Not enough positions.' sima said " i'm looking for positions that highlight my best feature" Your rack?" vushu said. 'my booty, dear Vushu. the part Kovu drools over. i want to be able to hypnotize him with my curves if I so desire. and I need the Chair book for it." Sima said.

"Could we get some hot dogs, Miss Kitty?" Ollie asked hopefully, "Hot dogs were always my favorite. Especially when I coat them in ketchup." The kitten was enjoying not having to work, and he found Kitty to be nice.

"I want to get some ice cream, strawberry, if we could," Oliver requested, remembering how it was his favorite desert back on earth. "Then I'll beat you in the bumper cars," he bragged to the other young cat.

"Let's put those fire powers to good use," Kiara smiled at Kovu seeing him be able to use them to help in potion making. The refugees were clearly in need of some to get them in better shape. She used her own water powers to provide drinking water.

Sly and Carmelita were out on patrol. "That was.......an event," the raccoon noted, making a deliberate understatement about what had transpired the previous day.

Captain Carson retreated to the bridge and turned to her crew. "We will be charting a course for Polaris."

She booted up her starmap and examined it. As was usual, much of it was unexplored except for a few remote mining colonies. But Mawashi, Skylands, Vaalbara, Weyard and the Pony Planet were all marked on the 3d map. So was Polaris thanks to the information that Aphelion had shared. Unfortunately, there were no straight paths to Polaris but the ship was required to take a winding pathway that would not place it too close to any planets.

Captain Carson then waited for the ship's computer to finish calculating the paths. She then broadcast an announcement to everyone. "Attention, we are preparing to engage the jumpdrive. In ten minutes, a warning tone will be played. Everyone is required to secure themselves in preparation for the jump."

Kitty heard the announcement the headed over to the nearest designated 'secure' area. come on kids, we'll get some food after we get word we can move again.' She said to the kids.
 One by one the patrol groups settle into the ' warp jump' areas, here and there, residents were making thier way to the secure area cloest to them.

[Serris]

Sure enough, most of the refugees and crew fastened themselves into the seats when the tone was played. As it were, most of the "warp zones" were located outside of Winterville but there were a few buildings inside that did double duty as "warp zones".

A countdown then began and when it was over, a high pitched whine followed by a cracking sound was heard as the jump drive engaged. A powerful shock shook everyone present. Had they not been seated and strapped it, they would have been thrown to the ground or into the nearest object.

Captain Carson's voice then played over the intercom. "Attention, it is now safe to resume your normal activities. We will be arriving at Polaris in approximately twelve hours, Spirarian time.

as the ship entered Polaris galaxy-space, a advertisement board floated in front of it ' Welcome! to the Polaris galaxy!  an image of qwark in a business suit behind a chair soon appeared '  enjoy all the adventure our galaxy can offer. take in a fight at the Agorian battleplex or planet mukow. enjoy the unspoiled forests of Quantos, or spend a few bolts (or currency equivalent) in Axiom city! with 17 known sectors, and 713 known and named planets there's plenty of places to see, or you can come see me, President Qwark on planet Igliak! please note, one autograph per visitors, skrunch has insisted!" qwarks image vanished.

Captain Carson had awoken to see that the ship had arrived at their destination. She pondered exactly where to go. The only jump drive equipped vessel they had was the Spire itself.

She examined the announcement that showed up in the bridge's "windshield" (which was actually a monitor that displayed the outside of the ship). The Human decided that meeting President Qwark was something that she should do immediately. Before she could do that, the Vaalbaran ship hailed her.

"Attention Spire of Winter, this is Vaalbaran Hope, our jump drive has been destroyed in the jump from Weyard to this system. We will need to land at the nearest spaceport for repairs. Over."

"Understood, Vaalbaran Hope. We will meet at the planet of President Qwark. Spire of Winter out."

She put down the intercom and plotted a course to Igliak. Thankfully, all the coordinates of the planets in Polaris had been downloaded from Aphelion.

Captain Carson then used the taychonic communications system to let the space authority of Igliak know that they were approaching and planned to meet the president. She then made an announcement to the rest of the crew and passengers aboard the ship that they were making another jump and to prepare for it.

Thanks to the inherent magic and potions of the Seer combined with the Spire of Winter's medical crew, Stripetail had made a remarkable recovery. He was still floating unconscious (thanks to the cocktail of painkillers being infused into him) in the zero-g bed to keep him from developing pressure sores and the room was bathed in the pale white light of the sterilizer lamps to keep any pathogens away. His burnt-away eyes, muscle and bone had completely regenerated but his skin was only regenerating in small patches. Even so, his airway had healed enough that they were able to put a breathing tube in to supply him with oxygen.

The room was silent except for the hissing of the oxygen supply and the beeping of the monitors attached to the Seer. Though there was no one in the room, alarms would let any of the medical staff know if something were to go wrong.

slowly the seers right paw lifted and moved in a gesture. in front of the bed appeared a glowing orb. and tendrils of light seeped out of the seers body and  into this orbs, filling it wit h light ' images son appeared- memories in  fact. first stood the seer , as a young squirrel standing with another squirrel in front of  a huge castle, resting above a crystal blue lake. both  of them carried staffs in their paws indicating they were mages. this mages faded replaced by stripetail standing  near a large headstone , his face in his paws. next came images of him riding Tarrax flying though the sky. Stripetail's face bore a look of abject fury, and the skies around him roiled, almost as they felt the wizard;s anger.  next came Stripetail sitting on a couch surrounded by two beautiful golden dragonesses, the dragonesses were magically sizing Stripetail up for clothes fitting , as they both held in their claws a set of robes, one held blue robes the other green. stripetail waved them away and produced a light red color the girls chuckled then began pulling out more clothes. next came an image of stripetail walking into an arena filled with fans waving pennants and flags.."

 Get tarrax' said one of the doctors ' we need to know if this is a good thing or bad thing. Perhaps a dream? Unconscious spell-casting? memories of the long past? whatever it is we need to know if it is natural, or  or a reaction to medication.  find him' he said to the orderly.

 Kovu finished helping the refugees with  their fire needs before heading into the main lpart of the city.  i Could go for a nice steak.' he grinned  i also need to plan on watch Kiara and I will be  doing.. Hmm. Relaxing in a spa or hot tub. watching entertainment on big screens.. trying my oaw at dancing .. all fun things to do.. and then there that cologne idea Stripetail okayed I'll need to start work on that at once. "
 Kitty stopped at a large hot dog standing and brought 3  hot dogs, one for Oliver, one for Ollie and one for herself. seeing as the songstress was watching her weight, she sliced up  her dog into 8 pieces. and gave oliver 4, ollie 3 and kept one for herself.  So what do you kids want to do first?' She asked ' After our lunch, that is?' Can we do bumper cars ?' ollie asked. " sure, but no tag teaming on me. ' kitty smiled as they sat at a table to eat thier hot dogs. Kitty pased Oliver the ketchup and Ollie the mustard.
