General Land Before Time / Worst injury the gang has suffered?
« on: March 16, 2013, 09:07:54 AM »
Littlefoot's injuries from the fight with Cera, but not for the physical damage. But, Drake, you may say, the point is to pick the event you believe hurt the most. Well, I have.

The fight with Cera results in the rest of the gang abandoning Littlefoot and following Cera on the wrong path. Maybe they would have followed her even if Littlefoot won, but I think seeing how tough the three horn is helped to sway them. Also, Littlefoot is clearly broken up when Cera takes the wrong path and he's unable to stop her. The delivery of the line "Fine! Go the wrong way!" is so strained, I think the idea of her going off to get lost and maybe killed and his own inabillity to stop her had Littlefoot choking up. The rest following her is just another slap in the face for him.

This turn of events gets the rest of the gang into terrible trouble and then moves the shame and humiliation unto Cera when she realizes she should've listened to Littlefoot in the first place! Sure everything works out in the end, but this one little event splits the gang up and could even have resulted in everyone dying, if Cera had shown up at the end to help deal with Sharptooth. Therefore I pick this scene for the emotional pain it inflicts on Littlefoot and Cera as well as the audience when they see the two heroes arguing and fighting.

I'm heading into New York for the first time ever next week to attend my second ever pony convention. I'm really looking forward to meeting the creative team behind the IDW comic series and just hanging around with a bunch of other people wearing t-shirts with colorful equines emblazoned on them.

I'll be disappointed if there's no sing-along at this con either. The MLP panel at Anthrocon did one, darn it! (Darn isn't too strong a word to use on here right?) If there isn't, I might have to take matters into my own hooves.  :lol

Assuming everything goes well, I'll also get to see Wicked at last. I've heard almost all of the songs, but I have yet to see the play itself. (Or any play at all, so this'll be another first. *fingers crossed.*)

(RICMS Spire of Winter)

"We need to take him down fast," Cynder said. "If we dilly-dally around, Chong will take the chance to build himself back up into a serious threat."

She eyed the hashbrowns for a moment. Since she hadn't eaten anything since the few appetizers for last night's failed date, her stomach growled like a-, well, like a dragon's stomach. Her tail speared a hashbrown and she took a bite out of it.

(Skylands)

Spyro stood guard a few feet from the rest. He glanced at the two-legged furless one, Nick he thought his name was, the stranger had reacted oddly to meeting him. Perhaps it was just the shock of seeing a rare purple dragon, but most people pointed such a thing out, if they were knowledgable enough about the species to realize the significance. He suspected a different reason for Nick's reaction.

The movie Dragon Heart. It's the earliest memory I have of dragons. Also the green ranger might have been a factor into it.

Any other fans of this manga turned anime series on here? Or maybe you've heard the "Muda muda muda" and "Wrrrryyyyy!" and wonder where they came from? (Hint: it starts with a 'J'.)

Cynder stepped into the dining room, pausing and glancing around. Her eyes searched the room for Spyro. She spotted Dixie, Tigress, and Agumina. She was surprised to see Scooby wasn't there and neither did Spyro seem to be.

His absence made her heart tighten. She'd hope he'd be waiting there to make amends for the fight last night. She'd rented her own hotel room, afraid to go back to the one she shared in case Spyro had done so already.

The dragoness tried putting on a happy expression as she stepped into the room and joined Dixie and her friends at the table.

"Hello, everyone! Sorry, I'm a little late."

I'm a big fan of dragons, mostly the Western body type, though I like the more beneficient nature of the Eastern folklore dragons. I like to see them used as characters in their own right or as motiffs for heroes and villains, rather than rampaging monsters.

That's not to say I don't like the destructive burning of the countryside and Princess kidnapping, I just prefer the other characterization more.

The Fridge / Do you outline, script, or rough draft your work?
« on: November 13, 2012, 10:12:03 PM »
I don't actually write down outlines for my stories. I can retain plot line ideas in my head just fine and have yet to ever not be able to recall one. Outlining pretty much just takes the form of me envisioning what will happen next in the story. (Daydreaming if you will.)

Notes on characters and the world background are what I need to write out, both for easy reference and because those are the things I do forget.

I used to write by the seat of my pants, sometimes with nary a clue of what will happen next, but I've since abandoned that method and have been scripting things a lot more lately. This however has resulted in my writing being crippled during the planning stage and I haven't gotten much literary work done lately.

"Ah," Drake nodded, a thoughtful expression on his face. "We don't have anything like that back home. Lots of planets with everything needed to sustain life you see. But if the Corp keeps up its reckless mining, we'll probably be needing ships like this eventually..."

"What's there to do around here?" Swoop asked Stripetail. "I get bored real fast if I don't have a job to do."

"Hey, Sunburn and Terrafin!" Spyro exclaimed, thrilled to see his fellow Skylanders. "These two seem to be in a bit of trouble. Sorry, I don't know of anyway to contact people outside of Skylands, you'd have to talk to Master Eon about that."

"This is an unexpected detour actually," Swoop replied. "We were conducting a routine goods delivery when something distorted the ether. I had no time to react and we got thrown through the warp. Our life support spell still worked, but the engines can't function in this void, unlike your ship."

"What's a colony ship?" Drake asked. He hadn't heard Swoop mention any vessel with such a designation.

"Oh, that's not really something I can help with," Spyro laughed nervously. He thought the pair had been in more serious trouble than just needing money. "Well, I might have some cash to spare."

LBT and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

A villain with a time-rewinding Stand rewinds time, placing several Jojos from various times/timelines into the great valley, along with a stand arrow.

Littlefoot and the gang end up coming into contact with the arrow and gain Stands of their own, joining up with the Jojos to stop the villains and their army of sharpteeth with bizarre physic superpowers. (Oh, and maybe some vampire sharpteeth just to mix things up. :lol )

^I interpret any of the powers in the broadest terms outlined by the article in order to get the most out of an ability.

Some weird powers you guys got, but you also have to describe how you'd use them in real life, that's half the fun of the game.

I saw a fun game idea and thought we might try it on here.

Go to The Superpower Wiki and click the random page button. (It's roughly in the middle of the page.)

Whatever page comes up is now your superpower. (No rerolls allowed.) What do you do with this power in the real world now that you have it? Fight evil? Turn to crime? Become a used car salesman? Whatever it is, describe it here.

My power is... Scald Generation!

Or the ability to generate boiling liquids... Well, I guess that cuts out me needing to boil water for soup and stuff. Besides blasting people in the face with boiling water in self-defense, I can't think of any other uses for this ability... Lame.

Drake tensed up as the strange vehicle rolled towards their ship, his grip on the rubber ball in his hand tightening. Swoop reacted more calmly, perhaps because he had accepted the strange aliens were no threat, or maybe he just understood machines better than his friend and realized that at the moderate speed the plane rolled at, it probably wouldn't do much damage even if it did crash into their ship.

The dragon dropped the ball in shock when the plane spoke. He scrambled madly to catch the falling orb, like someone trying to stick the pin back in a live grenade... His fist closed on the ball and he breathed a sigh of relief. Swoop gave the dragon a strained look.

"We'll take a look at that hotel now, if that's okay," Swoop said, a bit awkwardly.

(Skylands)

"Excuse me, but I couldn't help overhearing you," a purple and orange dragon approached Nick and Dr. Kerzach. He looked like Spyro, a lot like Spyro, but shorter and stockier. Darker spots decorated his body, his face looked different, more monsterous some might say, but the genuine concern in his eyes helped disspell any sense of malice it might have cast. "Are you in some kind of trouble?"

-------------------------------------------
(Meanwhile with the "real" Spyro)

Cynder's outburst stunned the purple dragon. He froze and tried to think of something to say. He'd spoken without thinking his words through and now, he had singlehandedly ruined their date through his thoughtlessness.

"Yes, I understand it's just..."

"No, you don't understand!" Cynder snapped, pushing her chair back and hopping out of it.

The other diners looked up from their meals, startled by her outburst. Spyro stood to follow her, but she shot an angry glare at him. He froze in place and watched as she walked out.

"Wait!" he finally shouted. He jumped out of his chair, flapping his wings. His tail hit the back of the chair and knocked it down as he flew over it. "Cynder, can't we talk about this?"

The black dragoness whirled around and Spyro hovered in place. "I don't think we should. Let's just split up for now and think about this, our relationship I mean."

Sypro dropped to the floor. His throat tightened and he had to fight back tears. "But-."

"Please! Spyro... just like me be by myself for a bit," Cynder said, her own voice starting to quiver. She turned and flew out of the Cafe.

So, I'm going to start claiming Skylanders Characters if that's all right with everyone.

I'm going to go with the Skylander version of Spyro and Cynder to start with, along with Flynn the balloonist. I'd call more, but I want to give other people a chance.  :DD
