The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Littlefoot being "little"---WTF?!

It was normal in 2 for Littlefoot---and the rest of his friends---to complain about being too little and wanting to grow up. LBT 11...is a different matter entirely.

First of all, like MarzGurl pointed out, that was wasn't just the usual kind rude comment that Cera made in the beginning.  Yes, Cera can be a jerk. But tease Littlefoot about his size? That's beneath her! And it...was really weird, cause it came completely out of the blue.  Nobody had ever, not once in any of the 9 previous films, made any comment on Littlefoot's size. It's one of those weird, new concepts they sometimes give to a single episode of a show, in which a character is scared of something, really likes something, or is teased about something they were never affected with before that particular episode.

I mean, Littlefoot is the largest of the group, and sheesh, he's a kid! I mean, at least he's grown since he hatched in movie 1...wheras I...don't think Ducky really has since we saw her come out of her egg.

Anyways, after she has that whole speech about him being little and that "so long...LITTLE-foot!!" which makes me want to cringe, Ducky pretty much offends him too!

Then we get the scene with the grandparents, where the Grandpa says he was Littlefoot's size once, and for a moment it seems the producers got their act together---and then the Grandma ruins it by saying, "Not at your age, of course!" Seriusly, Grandma Longneck? I personally wonder if you even know your own grandson's age.  <_<

Later, Topps insults him as well. Well, this isn't exactly an out of character thig for him to do, but...he's never commented on Littlefoot's size before.

My point is, why was this brought in? It makes no sense and seems really stupid.  :anger

One thing that made me chuckle in the 11th movie is when Littlefoot's grandparents are trying to console him after what Cera said, and his grandfather says that when he was Littlefoot's age, he had grown, thus depressing Littlefoot again.

Smooth, Grandpa Longneck.

Yeah, I found that moment funny too. If I didn't know Grandpa, I'd say he was trolling. :D

No offense, but I think you guys are missing the point of my topic. No offense, but I did this because it was something I wanted talk about and I really hate being ignored.

And it was Grandma that said Grandpa had grown by Littlefoot's age...did you read my first post?

By the way, this is my 1500th post!  :D

Don't take it too personally if people don't respond to your topics Bruton. If people respond, they'll do so.

As for why the sudden emphasis on Littlefoot's size? It fits the sub moral of the story. While the most obvious lesson here is never tell a lie, the other one is not to judge other people by their size. You look at all of the other movies and not once has this lesson been brought up before. Yet worrying about being too small is a common thing younger kids deal with, so I was surprised it took them 11 movies to finally touch on the subject.

Now is it really so out of character for Cera to take advantage of this? I don't think so. She was only doing it because Littlefoot was hurting her pride. She wanted to take credit for finding the tree sweets, but Littlefoot corrected her and everybody was laughing at her for making a mistake. So, naturally, to regain her pride, she started making fun of Littlefoot's size. Friends pick on each other all the time, but they don't really mean to hurt their feelings. Now, could the movie have done a better job with that scene? More than likely. But I don't find too much harm to it.

I don't think Ducky was trying to offend him either. Notice the moment Littlefoot starts feeling sad about his size she tries not calling him "Littlefoot." She didn't want to make him sad. Same with Littlefoot's grandparents. They were simply pointing out that all longnecks grow at different paces. There is no set growth rate.

Actually didn't the second movie kind of touch up on this subject? There is a scene where Littlefoot says that he "hates being little" and his grandpa says "Don't worry, you'll be grown up soon enough." Yeah it was talking about age, but that also refers to size. And it was a big part of the story, Littlefoot and his friends trying act "bigger" (or rather older if you want to be specific) by being parental figures to Chomper and not to be "bossed around" by their parents.

Provided, LBT2 and LBT11 did different things with it, but both do involve size as part of the moral of the story, I think.

I don't know. I see what you are saying, but I consider LBT 2 focusing more on being grown ups. I saw them more as trying to act as adults rather than bigger, but then again the two can go hand in hand.

2 offered a normal storyline of Littlefoot and the rest hating being little---little as in, young and not allowed to be independent.

11...went into more...forbidden territory.

By bringing up something that was ridiculous cause it had never been mentioned before, nor did it really make sense.

To me, that's not forbidden territory. Forbidden territory would depend on the nature of the show/movie/comic. In LBT's case, having a dinosaur disemboweled on screen would be forbidden territory. But bringing up a topic that wasn't before, so long as it was kid-friendly and fit into the world of LBT, is not.
