The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Outcut land before time scenes

The production of the film always caught my attention, seeing how something new is discovered always brings a smile to my face, even if it is censored, I feel it gives a sense that it is something we are not yet ready to see.  :ChomperOhhh

Krieger responded to me yesterday:

My questions were:
"A. Were there any other scenes extended when you watched it? For example, there is a known scene where Littlefoot and Cera climb into a dead tree to unsuccessfully escape Sharptooth at the very beginning of the chase, but the T-Rex dives his head into the tree and rips it up. Did this make it into the workprint?

B. Littlefoot’s original name during production was Thunderfoot. Was his old name still intact during this early cut?"

His response:

Hi -----,

"After reading all of the internet speculation over the last few years about extended and missing scenes, when I watched the two cuts side by side (one on the TV, one on my laptop) I was honestly surprised by how much alike they actually are. There are a few minor trims but no "missing scenes" and no major trims to the T-Rex fight. No mystery ten minutes cut for violence; that's all just the internet rumor mill. The biggest change was that, in the early cut, Littlefoor finds the Great Valley first and then goes back to get his estranged friends before heading down there. It was changed because, upon viewing it, we all felt the double reveal of the GV was anticlimactic and, in line with the theme of the importance of solid friendships, it made more sense for them to get there together.
In terms of Littlefoot's name, it was changed before production ever started because the rights-clearance team discovered there was a brontosaurus in a children's book in England named Thunderfoot.

That's what I've got for ya.

Best,

Stu Krieger

My initial thoughts (pasted from Discord):

- I’m not sure what he considers “minor trims” but I guess he counts those extra bits with the Sharptooth chase in the swamp to be minor trims haha.
- Original ending arrangement is in the early cut. We know there were some edits there.
- I suppose there was no Oasis scene in the earliest cut. I’m still leaning towards it never reaching the animation stage.

Another thing I realized today:
- He must have converted the VHS tape into a digital file, since he watched the cut on his laptop.
edit: i misread him lol

Growing up I was a big LBT fan and had seen all movies and TV series episodes. On the forum, I was formerly known as Hypnobrai until Nov 11, 2017.

In recent years, I have gained an interest in the production of The Land Before Time, particularly the deleted scenes of the original film. New discoveries have been made in the last few years and continue to be made, so I feel that it is a good time to contribute.

I have always loved sharpteeth more than any other creatures in the franchise, such as the fourteenth film's Carnotaurus, the fifth film's Sharptooth, and #1 by far - the original Sharptooth.

From 2017-2019, I was an administrator for the LBT wiki.

I'm sure that one he watched on TV was early cut, and release version was on laptop.

But I have to say: it's very important to carefully make a digital copy. :[

I guess in vein of all of the hype around Stu Krieger's early workprint of The Land Before Time, I guess I tried to do a reconstruction test of putting the original soundtrack onto one of the scenes from the film, specifically the fight between the Sharptooth and Littlefoot's mom,  just like how others did in the olden days of YouTube over a decade ago:

I got bored and felt it was neat to do.

It would be so cool if video sequence were cut into segments. Find a sequence where scenes correspond with music perfectly.

Aw man, that is kinda disappointing. Perhaps he could mean minor as in not really story-relevant? Because let’s be honest, as neat as a lot of this deleted footage sounds, the movie doesn’t really need it, rather than them being minor as in hardly different from the final film.

Also I didn’t know we had a discord lol.
