The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Embarrassing

I gotta admit that I'm not in favor of a few friends of mine just coming over.  One, my room is a total mess :p and 2, I don't exactly want them to see my LBT poster and pictures or my desktop backgrounds. I'm more embarrassed about the messy room though than the LBT stuff. :lol They'll come over eventually....if I ever get it cleaned up.

When they do come over, I know they'll laugh at me really hard.  That's just the way they are, but they're nice enough not to spread it around or make me feel like crap about it.  I mean, if you think about it, it is pretty funny that someone like me likes LBT.  It just doesn't fit me at all with my "school" life.  At school, I'm totally serious and rarely laugh or smile.  I suppose the best way to describe me is a mature computer obsessed guy.  They call me the FBI agent at school cuz I look so much older that I am, I always carry a laptop wherever I go, and I act more like an adult that a kid. :lol

Hello:
And I third that (if that make any sense  ). The important thing to remember is the fact that you don't have to worry about something if you really enjoy it. Do not let other people disturb you because of your liking of LBT, but since there is always people that won't understand, then maybe we cannot go screaming that we like LBT, not because we must hide it, just because that can help avoiding bad things.

I wouldn't want to be friends with anyone so superficial and intolerant as to be unable to stand the fact that I am a land before time fan. Perhaps having such a hobby is a good way to "separate the wheat from the chaff" if it comes to friends.

And I'll second what you said, Malte. I, myself, actually have a few hobbies that I do on my own when I want to be alone, but not bored. Heck, due to some of my hobbies, I even have two different social circles that have nothing to do with each other outside of me being the common element in both.
Yeah, the way to think of something that you like that your friends think is lame or whatever is just to think of it as your own thing, because it is. Your interests, beliefs, and opinions are part of what make you who you are. If you friends can't accept you for you, if you're an okay guy, then they're not your friends.

They would be right about your messy room, though.  :lol

Hello:
Sometimes it is hard to find cool people to be friend with, because I hate when they make nonsensical jokes of the things you like, and if you find them then it is just great B) .

That is the exact reason why I have smaller circles of friends. I'm very picky about who I hang out with, and I always make sure that he or she is the real deal in the friendship department.

Hello:
That is correct, I concurr with you. Sadly I have met people that ended stabbing me on the back, so I had to become more careful.

I've only had one back-stabbing friend and since then, I've been a lot smarter about who I let get close.  Someone can do a lot of damage to you, so before you lower your defenses, you'd better be darn sure you know who you're dealing with unless ya wanna get hurt.

I don¥t think about this very much. If it comes to a friend that I like the LBT, than I let know him, that if he annoy me because of that or laugh at me, than he isn¥t my real friend any longer. Cause real friends don¥t do this.

... really? even my most judging cousin hasn't ever said anything mean about all the LBT stuff I have in my room.. and the DVDs/VHSs are pretty close to the PS2 and Gamecube games, so there's no denying him seeing them... besides friends usually don't judge friends for something as simple as an interest, and if they do... they're not very good friends... now if it's something extreme (something the government may knock on your door about) they may have a problem with that, as most people would... but for something like a movie or music interest isn't usually a thing a friend would/should judge someone about...

People are kinder than you think they are... and... most don't have time to make a fuss out of something like that... There are jocks at my school who know I like LBT, and it doesn't bother me one bit... I don't hide my interest... now, I don't just display it all over... but I wouldn't say no if someone asked...

I also have a couple questions for you LBTL:
Do you still think no one is going to change who you are?

and

Do you own any of the discs currently?

Yup.  No one is gonna change who I am.  I'm just not gonna announce to the world that I like LBT.  It's not gonna stand in the way of my friends coming over though.

I currently own all the DVD's and VHS's (except for one of the tv ep dvd's.  I just can't find it. :( )

how were your morals formed then? and how'd you become comfortable enough to now keep the DVDs you once discarded?

I just decided that my life belonged to me and that no one was going to have that much control over my life.  I told my mom I liked LBT and she didn't make a big deal about it.  I got tired of the crappy rips I had made to replace the DVD's and I started collecting both the VHS's and the DVD's again (I'm secretly a VHS diehard :p )  I'm in control of my life and I don't need to be like everyone else to be an okay person.  I didn't need to find things such as extreme violence on TV cool and I didn't need to be like everyone else.  I realized that being normal was not what I wanted to be.  I found most of the other kids my age to be immature and I thought they did stupid things.  I didn't want to be like them....EVER!  Once I realized this, it was a simple matter for me to feel okay about myself.  I will not conform to other peoples ideals or be the "average" teenager.  Why?  Because I didn't WANT to be a normal average teenager.  I realized that there was nothing wrong with that and now no one can convince me otherwise.  If I like LBT, who cares?  If you don't like it, tough.  I'm not that desperate to gain the approval of my immature peers that I would lower my dignity and do whatever they thought was normal of me.  I honestly couldn't care about verbal abuse by my peers.  I am however fearful of a physical confrontation.  I don't want the fact that I like LBT to tarnish my spotless record because I got in a fight over it.  That's why I'm careful who I tell about my LBT obsession.  It's not because I'm embarrassed, it's because I don't want it spread around school and then to get into a physical confrontation over it.

I think ya missed the point, I think non-conformism is great, I think that being unique is one of the most important things in the world... what I intended to tell you was... in small ways, the environment always changes who we are, whether WE like it or not... even if we don't care for their approval... if someone's a total jerk to you, you realize thats not what you want to be, and they have changed you in one way or another :p

Hello:
I think both of you have many good points, environment does change people, or help them develop in the correct way, we cannot choose many things, but we can choose what we want to be. LBTL did something that sounds easy, but is definetely hard to do, it is one thing to know the path, and it is another thing to walk in that path, both of you are correct, the thing is, can you use all the things you think about to find happiness?, if you do, I am most happy, because that is not easy to accomplish.

Really, as it stands, me and my family are the only ones who know about my LBT "hobby". I'm homeschooled, and I don't get hardly any visitors to my room, so no one else really finds out. Perhaps "breaking" it to my parents was the big one for me, and, for the most part, they thought they were "cute movies".

heh, I receive heckling all the time for liking LBT from my parents, but I know it's in good fun :p I think they're fine with the fact I'd watch this instead of something like Saw any day though
