(Airspace over Cobia Bay)

Lt. Martin let loose two more missiles, taking out one plane

Luckily, the planes were electronic organisms so Sara's EMP seriously affected them, usually by causing them great pain. Unfortunately, this made Sara the main target.

Lt. Martin stitched one of the incapacitated planes with her autocannon, striking where the cockpit would be located on a non living plane. Another burst of her 20 mm shells caused the plane to burst into flame and plummet to the ground.

The last remaining plane launched all of its missiles and charged Tarrax, hoping to wound him with its lance-like pitot tube. Unfortunately, these missiles were the kind that carried 3 high explosive darts each. These darts locked onto Tarrax and Sara.

Lt. Martin jammed the guidance system of one the darts heading for her and she lit her afterburners and proceeded to do some absolutely insane manuevers, pulling as much as 12 Gs in an attempt to throw off the other two darts.

Taking advantage of the distraction, a living A-10 slipped away and headed to the Cobia Bay Airport to do some real damage.

"Well," Haresh said, looking up from his latest project - the laser chamber for a magical weapon. "You could help Mr. Bigmouth."

Ms. Swimmer said nothing as she continued extracting the gems from the jewelry that had been pilfered from the ruined stores and houses.

Mr. Bigmouth introduced himself to The Professor. "Ah, Professor, I am pleased to meet you. I am Mr. Bigmouth, Press Liason and Head of Research and Development at Fort Inglorious."

He then gestured around the library, books, assorted electronic and mechanical parts and tools were all over the place. Setsuna was in the far corner repairing the gem annealer (some parts had been damaged during a power surge). "Right now, we are trying to reduce the power consumption of our anti-teleportation field generator."

Tarrax's fire blew up the darts that targeted him, which lit up the sky and showed the details of the area below him.. ' we've still got an enemy plane! He roared.. pointing at the A-10 which as headed towards the airport..

"I've got him!" Lt. Martin shouted as she lit her afterburners and chased him down.

"You! Stop and land immediately!" she shouted.

The living A-10 ignored her. Bursts of flak lit up the sky as he attracted the attention of the ground defenses. He took care of them with a few well-aimed bursts from his 30 mm cannon.

"All right, let's do this!" Lt. Martin muttered. She armed her last two air-to-air missiles and launched them.

The first missile was thrown off course by the A-10's electronic countermeasures but the second one struck its mark, destroying one engine.

Several bombs dropped from the A-10 rained down on the runway the A-10 flew over, pockmarking them with craters. Several smaller bombs (each carrying several hundred mines) lazily drifted down on parachutes.

A burst of shrapnel hit Lt. Martin by mistake but she ignored it. Another high explosive shell struck the belly of the A-10, causing hydraulic fluid to leak out.

"Give up!" Lt. Martin shouted.

"Never!" the A-10 replied.

Lt. Martin growled as she spooled up her 20 mm gatling autocannon and let loose a volley of shells. She cursed; the shells detonated on her target's skin but he was too heavily armored to be injured much by them.

The A-10 continued flying. He let loose his last volley of rockets at a hangar - the one that Captain Fairchild was in.

"Avenger!" she radioed. "Get the f--- out of there!"

The explosions reached the ears of everyone in the terminal.

"Everyone! Head to shelter!" Sylvia shouted as the fire alarm (now an all purpose siren for each and every emergency ) began to sound throughout the building.

Captain Fairchild was busy reading some "naughty" aeronautics magazines. The hangar was plastered with pinups of various female planes - mostly fighter aircraft.

He giggled as as he admired the sleek lines of a female SR-71 Blackbird.

He heard the warning and sped towards the hangar door, not caring that he had just run over one of his naughty magazines. Unfortunately, just as he got through the door, the rockets struck, burying him under the rubble.

Lt. Martin watched in horror. To make matters worse, the A-10 was giggling after he destroyed the hangar.

In desperation, seeing as she had no more weapons and her cannon was too weak to damage him, she rammed the A-10's last remaining engine, ripping it off and forcing him to land. The impact was quite painful and she lost her pitot tube and a good portion of her snout but she was overjoyed that she managed to down one of the toughest planes around.

She landed onto an empty runway where she radioed a repair crew before she passed out from the shock and pain of the impact.

tarrax let forth a searing blast as he flew by the newly downed plane. the heat tore through the already damaged skinand ignoted the plane with fires that reached well over 3000 F. at that temperature very few things can survive, and the A-10 wasn't one of them.
_ the shelter was the lower reaches of the airport which were built well below ground' it was musty and smely down here, largely from the fact that Slyvia and her group had likely been living down here for weeks at a time.

Several minutes passed in the concrete bunker with no contact from the outside.

Sylvia went up and opened the door. The bombardment had stopped.

"All clear!" she shouted.

Deimos, Dr. Zanasiu and the others filed out of the bunker.

Major Lockie was nowhere to be seen.

"Hey, where'd Major Lockie go?" Zachary asked.

The sound of turboprop engines answered their questions as Major Lockie landed on an undamaged runway and taxiied over to the area where he could speak to the others.

"Guys, I don't know if you're aware of this but Captain Fairchild just got buried underneath his hangar - or what's left of it. The ground crew's trying to dig him out."

Lt. Martin had regained consciousness and was now being repaired. Unfortunately, this severe damage would take days to fix - mainly because her parts had to be shipped in from Telson AFB or Southport.

The most the ground crew could do was patch up her autocannon holes and comfort her.

Meanwhile, the ground crew tried to repair the battered runway but they gave up after they had lost several men to the mines.

Unfortunately, the runway that was destroyed was the largest one - intended for fully laden cargo planes.

Everyone, help in digging captain Fairchild out! Sttripetail ordered.. ' this will delay our efforts to mount an offensive..' he muttered. " chong will probably have troops moving towards taking galena as we speak..
scooby and Dixie hurried over to help digb fairchild out. It was at times like this that Dixie appreciated having Stitch and Angel on their team, with 4 arms and Stitchs strength, they could lift and move riocks thast Dixie or Scooby could never hope to lift..

As she saw some missiles coming towards here Sara did a spell to do phase in a similar matter to what she had seen Shadowcat (of the x-men) do, this any electrical device that she passed through or passed through her got its electrical system disrupted.

"You go ahead. I'll go and get someone." Jason said quietly to Guilmon. Guilmon went outside the hotel with Jason nearby.

Growlmon digivolved to his Growlmon stage & went to help dig, being able to use his larger size and strength to lift heavier debris. Jason slipped away to somewhere where he would not be observed so he could morph then to summon the Q-rex.

Best change to your Megazord form. I'll be easier to help dig out the trapped individual that way.

Tis better to do this then fighting. the Q-rex said before he changed to his megazord form to go off where the digging was going on to help with moving the heavier things.

Brooklyn, Moran and Odysseus were helping to dig also. Brooklyn & Moran being stranger then a human. Plus Brooklyn's claws could dig into stone or even some metals to help lift stuff. If needed one of them could use Galatine to chop through stone or metal, the sword not loosing it's sharpness even if used to chop through metal or stone & it was virtually unbreakable & like Excalibur was not fashioned nor built by human hands.

thanks to the combined help, the debris around fairchild was soon cleared away. ' take him to the infirmary for observation and repairs..
' Stripetail said, as spyro and cxynder landed in front of him ' we got the all.. for now ' Cynder said.. ' best stay on the ground for now..

"Erm, Stripetail, we can't fit him into the infirmary," Zachary said, as he placed his shovel aside.

"Well, how about we just move him into an empty hangar and send over some mechanics to look at him?" Strut suggested.

"Unfortunately, this puts a dent in our offensive plan. Without Captain Fairchild, we lose a substantial amount of firepower," Deimos added.

"Unfortunate, indeed. We will need to replan."

Several other pieces of heavy equipment were still removing the remainder of the rubble.

An aircraft tug hooked itself to Captain Fairchild and gently pulled him free of the rubble. He appeared to be fine, save for the cracked windshield and numerous dents covering his body."

"Give me a few hours for repairs and I'll be fine!" Captain Fairchild said as the tug hauled him away.

Major Lockie was waiting for them at the terminal in his usual spot. "So is Captain Fairchild okay?"

Zachary was helping himself to some coffee from a communal pot.

As it was time for lunch, the imported cooks were getting to work preparing meals. Most of the previous cooks had been demoted to being simply helpers in hopes that they would pick up some techniques and thew very worst of the cooks were assigned to other duties like clean up, repair and other such tasks.

Captain Fairchild was being cleaned up. Luckily most of the dents were superficial but his armored windshield had to be replaced. Along with both of his engines (his engines accidentally ingested debris, completely destroying them).

Some of the crew members, were checking his radar and cannon to ensure that they were not damaged.

"So how long until I can fly?" he asked.

The crew chief looked at him. "We do have a pilfered A-10 windshield but it will take a few hours for the engines to arrive and a few more hours to weld them on and connect them - even though your systems are apparently capable of connecting wires and tubes on their own."

Captain Fairchild's wingtip lights flashed a bright red - a sign that he was annoyed. "Give me a time frame!" he snapped."

"About ten hours."

Captain Fairchild sighed as the men began removing his engines. He radioed Stripetail. "Commander Stripetail, I will be out of commission
for at least 10 hours."

we are leaving in 6, so if that timeframe is accurate, we will be four hours into our movement towards galena, a distance you likely won't have trouble spanning.' stripetail replied. " Its unfortunate captain but it could be worse, yiou could have been knocked entirely out of action.. and given the state of our forces we need all force we can muster.

"The mechanics are working as fast as they can but if they don't have the parts, they can't do anything," Major Lockie said. A mechanic was busy cleaning his pitot tube.

By this time, lunch - consisting of seafood pasta, lentil soup, assorted salads and fried vegetables/seafood - was ready.

"By the way," Deimos added as he stood in line for lunch. "I examined Lt. Martin. She has substantial damage and it will take a few days to fix her - mainly because her systems are more intricate than Captain Fairchild's systems."

"So that leaves Major Lockie," Strut mused as he drank some soda.

Scoby passed around the seafood platters to the rest of his table ' rake ras ruch ras rou ran reat" He said, he has hekped himself to large portions of shrimp and crabcakes
the digmon were each trying the salad.. Joe was checking his phone and smiled to see his latest checked had been deposited. ' Being called into service has earned me a lot of respect at the hospital joe said..

"I do hope both of them are fully recovered fairly quickly with no aftereffects." Jason said.

"We'll all be able to briefly rest after this is over. Though then the cleanup and recovery will start." Odysseus said.

"Which may be a bit easier once the fighting is all over." Jason said.

The Professor stayed in the library to work on any other electronics that still had to be dealt with. The power was back on, but that wasn't the only problem the fort had. Security systems and the network of computers scattered all in the fort had to be set up again after a loss of power. While the Professor worked to bring these systems back online, he wondered what was taking Bender so long.

Bender continued to trudge through the barred landscape. "What happened here?" he wondered, as he set eyes on the smoldering remains of an airport. He saw a variety of strange creatures filling out of a bunker there, and trying to recover from a recent attack. He tried to hide, but it was too late. Someone had already seen him.

Von grumbled as he starting carrying heavy boxes of ammunition and weapons around the fort. They found a use for him, but he didn't really like it.
