The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Last night I went to bed at 10 PM, intending to get back up again at midnight to visit the GOF, but instead slept until 4 AM, looked at my alarm clock, and fell asleep again until 8 AM, when I was woken up by a woodpecker tapping on the side of the house.

^Wow! Hehe, I don't have woodpeckers where I live. ^^ I'm sure that was a bit annoying though. :p :lol

Ever since I met one of my best friends I kept using "^^".

Yes, it was. :lol Fortunately, I love woodpeckers, and provided they don't do any long-term damage to our house, I don't mind it too much. :p

I've seen at least four different species of woodpeckers where I live: downy, hairy, pileated, and northern flicker. (It might actually be five; I think I saw a sapsucker once, too.)

I like woodpeckers.  They're cute, and they really do not get on my nerves :).  I used to live next door to this guy who would rev his engine several times just about every mornin' (around 6 AM) to get his car started .  The woodpeckers were music to my ears compared to that :p.

I've always especially liked the crested woodpeckers, like the pileated woodpecker, and the (probably extinct :cry) ivory-billed woodpecker. Maybe it's because they vaguely resemble feathered versions of Pteranodon, which has always been one of my favorite pterosaurs. :p

I've never been a big fan of birds... but I do like parrots for their intelligence. I don't ever plan on owning one, though.

They can be pretty messy, especially if their cages are not cleaned at least every other day :p.

I adopted my African Grey parrot Howard from a relative who adopted him as a baby.  He was bein' neglected, and my relative decided she did not want him anymore, so I adopted him.  I never thought I'd like a parrot so much, but I've grown very fond of him :smile.  He will be four years old on Veteran's Day ;).

I know a lot about home improvement and how to make these repairs.  I also have a pretty good amount of knowledge in automobile repair.

I am skilled enough in metalworking to make a hammer, as long as I am given a lathe and some other cutting tools. I am also pretty good with a hacksaw and a milling machine.
