Cyrix smiled at Petries' enthusiasm. He then began the story,
"Long ago when the bright night circle was high in the sky, many said that a flyer with no fear flew throughout the land...watching over other plant eaters and making sure they were safe. Some believe the flyer had magical powers...others thought he was just a normal flyer...but the one thing that made him a true hero was when he stopped a smoking mountain from blowing its top!"
He took a breath and continued, "The night it happened...they say the flyer knew that those near the mountain were in danger, and he flew to the mountain as fast as he could...and when he got there the mountain had already started to spit firewater and much of the land was on fire. Some say it was the wind...others believe it was him who did this next trick, but all he did was breath as if he were trying to blow a leaf on a tree....and the fires disappeared! Then they say with a flap of his wing the firewater on the smoking mountain was pushed out of his way as he climbed to the very top...and without blinking an eye, or even thinking about it...he jumped in diving down, down, down into the fire water below."
Cyrix smiled as he came to the end of his story.
"Although this story is told from many different views...everyone agrees this is what happened in the end...that the flyer's spirit and heart were so strong to protect those in the lands below the mountain that the firewater and the smoking mountain vanished as if they had never ever been there...and to this day, others say that the flyer with no fear still flies these very same skies watching over all of us...to make sure we are safe and happy."
Terri had to admit...the story was exciting...even if it was about a leaf eater.
