The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

"Rawlson. Name doesn't ring a bell. Anyone know who that is? He new or something?" asked Shelton, rummaging through the drawers.

Stern approached the two guards and greeted them "Corporal Thomas Stern, reporting for duty. Command sent me in as reinforcements. I am a specialist in firearms and explosives. What is the situation?"

(OOC - I hope everyone's okay with this plot twist.)

"Greetings Corporal Stern." The soldier said, saluting him. "But let's get right down to business. There has been a terrorist attack. Pelvanida's security squads are attempting to deal with the issue at hand but they are being stretched thin. You are to report to the control room and undergo a briefing. Your mission will be made clear by the control room administrator."

----------------------------

Dr. Kerzach pulled out a lab report from a drawer. The lab report bore the title "Toxicity of Lanthanide Containing Alloys In Pediatric Psions" on the front. Underneath the title were the names of the scientists who worked on it.

"Shelton, I've got something!" He held up the lab report. "It looks like Dr. Dyson Holmes partnered with Drs. Rawlinson, Tsang, Furokawa and Fellingham." Dr. Kerzach said, reading off the cover. "And I know Dr. Holmes."

(OOC - there's a chemistry joke in here.)

"Understood. Corporal Stern out." And with that, he proceeded to the control room with all haste...

The "guards" who greeted Corporal Stern nodded.

"I hope the control room's under Doc S's control." the first guard muttered.

"We'd better get back before our disguise is busted." the second guard replied.

With that said, the two guards headed back to the tower.

"Hmm." Shelton skimmed through the report. "Interesting stuff. Is there anything useful in here? What do you know about Dr. Holmes?"

Things were pretty tense as Clyco, Cardon, and their escortee finally made it down to the required level. The door stood in front of them that needed to be opened. It was numbered Sub 66.  The VIP flipped his card, but nothing happened. Flipping it again, the VIP swore.

"God dammit, what does one have to do to get proper clearance." he tossed the card on the ground next to Clyco in frustration. The soldier picked it up and put it in his pocket, for it was the key to his suitcase if he needed to get it off his arm quickly.

"Control we are having an access issue down in Sub 66... it won't acknowledge our clearance," Cardon spoke into his radio. There was nothing but static.

"Clyco, go find a terminal and find out what the hell is going on," Cardon ordered the younger soldier. Clyco obeyed to the best of his ability, and opened a door into a storage room.

"Nothing here sir," he told the VIP

"Keep looking, we haven't got all day," the VIP replied as he checked his watch. Clyco moved into the storage room as ordered.  Behind the VIP the door opened, "Finally..." he moaned.  But it wasn't control that opened it.

Out from the experimental storage room stepped out a strange cybernetic man, covered entirely with shiny metal.  The sight was so impressive that the VIP just stopped and stared.

"Move back, move back!" insisted Cardon, but he didn't listen.

"You are a threat to Dragonstorm," the cyborg addressed coldly, "you must be terminated,"

"What?" asked the VIP in bewilderment.  The cyborg grabbed him by the neck and broke it, killing him instantly.  Cardon opened fire immeadiately with his side arm, aiming for the head and chest, but it was to no effect.

Cardon ran out of ammo and dropped his gun.  The veteran soldier turned to run, but was gunned down in a hail of bullets as the cyborg targetted him with an arm mounted machine gun.

Clyco saw what happened and panicked. What was going on? He tried to duck under a table but he was too late.  The Cyborg opened the door and scanned the room. It spotted Clyco lying on the ground and alive, but judged him to not be a threat to waste ammo on.

With a thudd the door closed leaving Clyco alone in the dark.

The corporal arrived at the control center, and found the administrator. "Corporal Stern here. What's the situation?"

"Greetings Corporal Stern. I am Dr. Keith Bailey. Every one you see here has been contracted by Carson City Camp to destroy a series of illegal experiments known only as 'Dragonstorm'." Dr. Bailey said.

Just then several beeps alerted Dr. Bailey to a serious issue." He turned to the monitor, which showed an experiment killing the VIP and a guard but leaving Clyco unharmed. He went up to Dr. Zanasiu and shook him awake.

"What is it?" Dr. Zanasiu asked irritably.

"A soldier just ran afoul of an experiment in the sublevels. And judging from the audio feed; it seems like that experiment was a Dragonstorm experiment." Dr. Bailey said.

Dr. Zanasiu's eyes widened. He quickly awoke Zachary, Dr. Landon and Aisha. "We've got a problem in the sublevels. The men we met from before just got [censored] over!"

Dr. Bailey then turned to Corporal Stern. "Would you mind accompanying these scientists to the site of the disturbance, corporal?"

---------------------------

Dr. Kerzach shrugged. "All I know about Dr. Holmes is that he worked in the metallurgy department. He's very hard to approach as he seems to appear and disappear at will. Not to mention he doesn't like talking. All I know about his appearance is that he is a tall, elderly man, nearly a foot taller than I am, with salt and pepper hair."

He then entered the office and in the process knocked over the desk lamp. He was surprised to find a memory stick hidden inside the base of the now broken lamp. He pocketed the memory stick.

He then exited the office and turned to Shelton. "Shelton, there's a computer in the office if you want to use it. On a side note, I found a memory stick hidden inside a desk lamp." He then chuckled. "Looks like my clumsiness helped. Had I not accidentally knocked it over I would have never found it."

"I'd be happy to assist; it's my duty after all." Stern replied, drawing his firearm. "Let's proceed to the site, gentlemen. Lead the way!"

Shelton sat at the computer and saw it wasn't yet logged in. "Dang. I can't log in until we get more passwords, or we reach Tinner's department. Or we find a computer that's already logged in. Hold on to that memory stick; I'm curious what Rawlson had to hide."

"Aisha, Dr. Landon stay here to guard Dr. Bailey." Dr. Zanasiu said.

With that said, he and Zachary headed out of the control room and headed towards the sublevels.

----------------

Dr. Kerzach proceeded to open every drawer and cabinet he could find in the office. He found nothing.

"Shelton, have you thoroughly searched the lab? If you have, we'll need to destroy it. We need to slow down Dragonstorm as much as possible."

(OOC - Nick, I assume you mean Dr. Bradley. But I think Dr. Bradley is inside the ADSA headquarters.)

Dr. Bailey shook his head. "The only man left alive is one of the soldiers."

----------------------------

Dr. Kerzach flipped open his knife. "Go into the closet, grab something like a pipe or a crowbar and smash everything you see. Except things that could harm us."

He then went up to Alfred, Werner and Hans. "We're done searching but we need help doing demolitions."

Alfred nodded and headed in. He took aim at a small electric furnace and shot a few holes in the outside casing.

Dr. Kerzach hastily mixed up a batch of epoxy glue and began covering the floor outlets with the compound.

-----------------------------

Dr. Zanasiu and his group arrived at the entrance to the sublevels.

"Well, here we are." Dr. Zanasiu said. He checked his shotgun and his lab coat pockets. He had enough ammo for a while.

Zachary did the same.

Dr. Zanasiu then opened the door to the sublevels using his ID card. The heavy steel door slowly slid back, revealing a well lit white room with a staircase and a freight elevator.

"So which route do you want?" Zachary asked.

Amazed that he was still alive, Clyco rose from the ground and assessed the situation. He was in the sublevels of a restricted base with next to no clearance and a crazy cyborg was on the loose killing everyone it deemed "a threat" - things couldn't get any worse.

The entire mission was comprimised, he wouldn't be surprised if this "Dragonstorm"  whoever they were had instituted the deal with the Canadian military purely to get their hands on whatever weapon they were bringing in.

It didn't matter now... if he had to explain himself to his superiors he would gladly do so, for now whatever it was was more useful in his hands then the enemy's.

With a small click Clyco swiped the access card on the suitcase he was carrying, unbolting the latches and unclipping it from his arm. It was nice to get that cold metal off his flesh.

With a slight bit of hesitation, the Srgt. unscrewed the secondary locks and opened the case.

(OOC: It isn't really established whether Bradley came with us to the control room or stayed behind. He could really be wherever at this point.)

"How could I say no to a crowbar?" Shelton grinned, crossing to the closet. "Gordon Freeman, reporting for--"

He flung it open. There was a variety of tools, but the spot where the crowbar should be was empty.

Grumbling slightly, Shelton grabbed a ball peen hammer. "I hate Rawlson very much right now. Guess I can take it out on his computer."

(OOC: Are we ever going to meet Rawlson? Cause it'd be funny if he grabbed the crowbar for self-defense before leaving.)

(OOC - Our group will encounter Rawlson for a brief moment soon. I'm not going to spoil much about the second encounter but I'll say it involves Delta Squad.)

Alfred shot up a very expensive electron microscope, then shot a computer.

Dr. Kerzach chuckled. "I see you've played Half Life, Shelton. I remember having tournaments with my friends. I just didn't think I'd be doing something like that for real." He shut off the water supply and disconnected the pipes in the sink. "We'll flood the lab later."

He then took some samples of an unusually shiny metal. "Hmm. Amorphous metal. Extremely tough but has this one flaw." He then dropped the small disks on the ground; the disks shattered like glass.

---------------------

"Stairs, it's easy to get ambushed when you're stepping out of an elevator." Dr. Zanasiu said.

He opened the door to the well lit stairwell and entered.

"Corporal Stern, be very careful around these experiments. They are extremely dangerous if provoked... and it doesn't take much to provoke some of them." Zachary said.

----------------------

Dr. Bailey kept a close eye on all the monitors. "Dr. Landon, I was wondering, how the hell did Dragonstorm remain off the computer systems for so long. I mean people would notice supplies and stuff missing, wouldn't they?"

Finding no one around, Feral and Aiko slips into the room and sprinted to the main control panel.  The Akita began to hack into the system, while Feral began his own work of rigging explosives around the massive room...

----------

While Dr Joe continued talking with the frightened experiment, Vic kept a close eye on Neku's vital signs.  So far, there were no reinforcements, as the sub-level doors remained sealed to trap the extermination squads that were after them.  "Hey Shade," he said.  "You think there are anyone else here that may help us?"

(OOC:  Clyco's already in the sub-levels?)
