Plythia laughed. It sounded like Vaeri... it was an uncanny resemblance. "Rhiga once told me that she would never marry. Why should I believe you? Is this some sort of a trick?"
"No, sister, it is true" Rhiga said as she entered the room.
Plythia's eyes widened as it dawned on her. For the first time in memory, someone in her family was marrying, a female no less. "Sister!" the young female ran over to hug Rhiga. After a long embrace, the two of them separated and began to talk about what had happened.
"You see, Plythia... I went to the city of Minbenthac. There, I met a group of adventurers who went on a journey with me to a lost city. After we returned, I met Marcus here and we decided to marry... but on the day of the wedding, I was taken by an evil overlord who threatens us all... he threatens everything. Once I was freed by my fellow adventurers, we had intended to return to Minbenthac, but something went from with the magic which was to take us there... so we ended up here."
Hardly believing what she was hearing, the teenage half-sister could only sit there, wide-eyed.
Continuing, Rhiga had to go to the most unpalatable part of her story...
"We met mother on the journey to the lost city. She had been taken prisoner, so we freed her... but..." Rhiga's mouth trembled and tears welled up in her eye "... she was killed by the evil lord that we are fighting. That's it. She's dead... gone... buried."
"What?! Mother...! No!" Plythia cried, hugging her half-sister once again. After many long minutes of sobbing, Rhiga was able to continue, speaking through the tears... "Since mother is no longer with us, you have nothing here now. I'm here to take you away from Hekaga, away from this... pit of a city."
