"You need to tell us which direction he took off in. We should follow him from there. We should be able to get his scent or find some other way to follow him..." Vespion replied. This was not going to be an easy search.

"Which street was that?" Rhiga asked Rex. "I know these streets well... and this neighborhood... I used to get my fruit here."

"By stealing it." Rhiga added mentally.

"If you tell me the general street, I think I can follow Jake." she added.

Eternion looked up at the temple entrance, shivering slightly. He then looked down at Rhiga, concern upon his old face.

'We best find him soon. I get the feeling someone is going to be in danger, and whether it is the child... or someone else...'

This is turning out to be more interesting than my typical night, Eternion thought.

The group looking for Jake now consisted of Vespion, Rhiga, Rex, Sasha, Eternion, Eriol, Selturma, and several of the Fauxen. They headed down the street as Rex had indicated, and ended up at an intersection...

Looking down at the intersection, Vespion saw something very rare in the streets of Hekaga; a thing of beauty. It was a tile mosaic that showed clear human influences, but had a Draconic style all its own...

It was a sign that the city had not always been poor and repressed. It was sad that such a beautiful piece of art was allowed to decay like this...

Focusing on the present, the cleric got back to the task at hand; Rex had caught Jake's scent and the pursuit could continue.

Eriol was with the group as they were trying to find Jake. - "I really hope that kid did not make himself into too much trouble, the less thing we want is something that can make the Guards to be alerted and the prince to know of our presence here."

Arianne was still sitting next to Adykon. - "I wonder if those kids are fine, I am getting worried." - but she then shook her head, trying to avoid thinking in bad things, she then smiled peacefully and that made Kos to smile too. That made her feel better.

'A group like ours would draw the attention of the city watch pretty quickly,' Eternion said to Eriol. 'We should be glad we're in the unsavory section of town... the guards are reluctant to make a pass around these parts.'

He then paused for a second, looking somewhat confused. 'So uh... why do we not want the prince or guards to know of our presence?'

Moving in close to Eternion, Rhiga sighed and began her story.

"Years ago, I was caught stealing some jewelry from the prince of Hekaga... the crown prince no less... the heir to the throne of the city. I managed to escape, but if I ever returned... well, you know what will happen if the guards find me. The prince never forgives anything..."

She kept her story quiet... the fewer people who knew about this, the better... she was already taking a risk by telling Eternion, although she figured that if he was going to risk his life for the sake of the adventuring party... she should be honest with him.

'I see,' he said with a nod. In all honesty, he cared little for the prince of Hekaga. The apple never falls far from the tree, as he liked to say.

He didn't wish to probe any further. All he needed was some clarification, and he was happy with that. What she had done in the past was her own business, and it was obvious from the very beginning that she didn't want to be here.

Heck, if Rhiga knew some of the things Almia and himself had done in the past...

'We should be fine,' he said, as he peeked around a corner. 'Hmm, any further this way and we'll be heading right into more noble grounds.'

If that's even saying anything about this place, he thought. Still, where the riches are hither... the watch will linger, as Almia once said.

He looked nervously at Rex. 'Please don't tell me the child headed this way.'

(OOC: Rex is normally metadude's to control, but he and I agree that when he is not here, I control Rex. Metadude isn't on very often, due to his lack of regular internet access.)

Taking a moment to sniff around, Rex delivered the news...

"Jake took off in that direction. I don't think he could get into the walled-off noble section... but he is close to it... and even from here, I can see guards patrolling all over the place... they don't want the poor to even get close to them..."

'That's how nobility works,' Eternion said. 'But you're right, the child would not have much of a chance getting into the nobility section... though given what the priests may have done to him...'

He paused and listened to the quiet breeze for a moment, no commotion that he could hear. He wondered if the child was in any state for sneaking around.

'Alright, lead on. Let's see if we can get around without drawing any attention.'

Continuing on, the searchers found some bootprints on the ground... these must have been Jake's... Dracons didn't even have boots... the prints continued on into another neighborhood... following them for nearly an hour brought the party close to the western gates of the city.

"He can't have gotten out of the city using the gate; you need passes for that" Rhiga said. "He might be hiding in one of the abandoned buildings around here... this area is known to have many of them."

'Well, it's a start,' Eternion replied. 'Rex can hopefully lead us to the right one... or we might split our group and search a few of the buildings? Otherwise we could be here all night.'

Although as an adventurer, Eternion was not particularly fond of splitting up. He had lost count of how many times doing such had ended badly... he remembered that one of his old companions would nearly faint at the sheer mention of splitting up...

He hoped this group was a little more... sane.

Jake could see the party not too far away from his current position. Jake walked back into the shadows and he watched as the party had a discussion. "hmmm......" thought 'Evil' Jake "they must be insane if they are looking for me......if they even come close to me i'll severe their head from their shoulders....".

Jake looked at the party again and he felt a rock under his boot...Jake had an idea. Jake picked up the rock and he threw it outside the building and it landed at another building and it made a noise. The party turned to see what it was.

Eternion was a little hard of hearing these days... but the sound of something striking stone caught his attention pretty well.

'I don't think that was supposed to happen,' he said, glancing at the others still with him.

'If that was the child, he certainly ain't good at stealth...'

Eternion thought for a moment, he hated surprises... really, really hated them. 'Right, I'll check that building out... anyone else want to come along?'

"heh, they fell for it" thought Jake "this will be easier than i thought!". Jake carefully got up and silently walked over to the back of the building where a ladder was that led to the roof. The top of the roof was right next to a giant wall that surrounded the city. Jake climbed up the ladder and over to the edge of the roof. "hmmm.....i better get a run up..". Jake took a few steps back and he ran as fast as he could and he jumped. Jake missed the wall but luckily his hands gripped the wall. "oh shit!" yelled Jake. ".....so much for stealth...." he thought to himself...

Vespion heard the noise of something falling... with a thud. Jake had fallen down off the wall, but since he fell into something soft, he wasn't badly hurt. Of course, it must have hurt his pride very much to have fallen into a pile of refuse... that's right, trash... trash... and waste water.

Meanwhile Minna sat at a table keeping an eye on the young Kos. " Someday I will have a child of my own.." She thought to herself. " Minna has always had a good heart, but to a large degree she had been sheletered from the cruelities of dracon life, the obscene wealth of her father disguised many flaws that the lower classes were only too familiar with..."So how are you girls holding together ?' She asked Rhiga's sisters.
