margas sat down in one of the guest chambers Today he was wearing his best robes.. While most Dracon males made show of their virility, Margas would not. showing off was not his style. "Father told me that the only one who needs proof of your ability to sow your seed is your mate, the world will see that soon enough, in the children you rear."Margas sighed ' he and Ilsa wee being rushed into this marriage , but given the threat facing them, they could not afford the normal period of courtship..

"I do have to agree on that matter, jumping blindly into battle offers no advantage, doing such a thing guarantees that you will get killed" Ku'ux added in as he looked to Eriol and gave off a quick snort.

"Well, I don't know much about battles or anything, but I do have to say that does sound about right, I mean, one has to know what they're doing in battle I guess" Violet added in with a light shrug as well.

Ilsa came in and sat down next to margas " You look very attractive" She said Ilsa was wearing a sea green bra and loincloth set with small diamonds and tiny rubies " Father says we had to get married now, with Dememorus around they might not be another opportunity later. " You look stunning " margas said simply "Its a pity we didn't get in touch sooner..

(OOC: Forgive me if I compress things a bit, everyone. My power over the storyline is less-than-absolute, but there are times when I need to provide guidance and direction for the plot.)

The day turned to night and the preparations for the wedding were all but complete. The entire party, newcomers included gathered in Tallon's palace, save for Jake, who was still unaccounted for. The interior of the great hall of the great temple was stunning, having been decorated in finery in what must have been record time. It seemed as if they had been preparing for it for months. Partly, it was the fact that the temple staff were very good at decorating for weddings, having done so countless times in the past, and part of it was the urgency and the common sense of having to get this deed done quickly, before a disaster struck, but much of the speed of the preparations could be accounted for in the form of money paid to hire three times as many workers as normal by Tallon, along with his regular generous donations to the temple each month.

Minna and Ilsa were given beautiful dresses to wear for the wedding  Ilsa was light coral Minna's was brilliant green. they have also managed to replace the dress and furnishings Rhiga had worn on her first , illfated attempt at a wedding. The added security was there to ensure this attempt would be sucessful. the feeling between the 3 ciouples was a sense of nervousness. margas paced to and fro in his room.. ' I wonder if I'll get much of a honeymoon" He thought..

(OOC: Ah, it's all good ^^)

Ku'ux arrived a bit later as he more or less purposly bumped into a guard as well, giving him a glare as well as he entered the temple and had a glance around "Hmm, not a bad look for a wedding...."

Violet on the other hand, was wearing something different than her regular clothes, she was wearing a dress, yet, gave off a scratch as well as she looked at herself in the mirror, giving off a giggle as well "Well, it doesn't look to be too bad...."

Lucien went into his room, preparing for the marriage that lay ahead. He had ordered that his armor be polished the day before, and it now sat in front of him. He slept in the inner clothes he would wear the next day; the armor itself practically required another layer underneath of it.

The suit of plate mail was gilded and extravagant, and it gleamed in the sun. Shaped in a manner to cover all of his body save his feet, it afforded good protection; he even had some extra plates that could cover the top of each foot if he felt the need for it, but he would not wear those to the wedding. His sword was placed in a sheath on the back of the armor, it too was gilded, although the gold only covered the hilt of the blade.

One could not be too careful these days.

Ilsa relaxed on her sofa , she was recieving a message, in all likelihood the last premarriage massage she would ever have  She had noticed Minna's change in behavior and that was good.. She considered a Minna a dear friend.. hopefully in time she would grow as close to Lucien as shge was to Minna. Her father and mother were going to be present for the wedding as were Margas' parents, and number of her sibling..

"Oh, I knew I was forgetting something" Violet replied as she took off.  Ku'ux walked over to Misro "Just so you know, I'm only in the audience, nothing more, nothing less"

Violet returned with the basket of petals and grabbed one of the petals, sniffing it before throwing it into her mouth and begun to eat it.

Adykon went to check up on Kos, and Rhiga went to see her half-sisters. All of them were well. They briefly ran into each other in Minna's palace;

"Oh! Adykon."

"Hi, Rhiga."

"It's been so long since we started this whole thing."

"Yes... yet it seems like just yesterday that Arcantas had given us our quest. He turned out to be a bastard... and a vampire after that. Well, a vampire-bastard. He's gone, but things are worse. Things just keep escalating, no matter what we do."

"It will have to come to a head sometimes, Adykon. Things cannot keep spiraling like this forever. "

"I've seen some very bad times before, Rhiga. I've been to a lot of places, and seen a lot of good Dracons lose their lives for no good reason... or sometimes, no real reason at all! We must be careful... and, Rhiga?"

"Yes?"

"I want you to enjoy this upcoming day with Marcus. You more than anyone, deserve it, no matter what you may have done in Hekaga. You've suffered enough for our cause. If you don't want to keep fighting, I'll understand."

Rhiga paused for a moment, then replied.

"I'll stay with the party. It won't be easy, now that I've got a child on the way, but that shouldn't stop me."

"I don't want to tear a mother from her hatchling. Don't feel obligated to me to do anything. You could serve us better by taking care of the next generation. In fact, after the wedding, I could arrange for you and Marcus to run to-"

"Please, Adykon. I'll take care of my child. For now, that also means I have to oppose this threat. If I don't fight, nowhere will be safe for my offspring, no matter where I run. And besides..."

Rhiga stretched her legs one at a time, leaning down on each one, right then left

"... I'm recovering from my pregnancy. I'm not fully up to speed yet, but I should be able to fight with a dagger."

"You're a brave female, Rhiga. Very brave. Let's hope that doesn't get you killed."

"You still remember my mother, don't you?"

"Yes."

"He took her from both of us. We loved her, each in a different way."

Adykon sighed as he replied again "Yes. He took a mother from you... and a bride from me."

"She wanted to marry you. This wedding would be a quadruple ceremony instead of a triple one is mother were still alive. That would have made you my...stepfather."

"I know. It would have been twisted."

"There was no one else I'd rather have in that place."

"What?"

"Of every male mother ever knew, you were the only one to show her kindness. The others all wanted her beauty and her... body. In the short time I saw you and mother together, you treated her with more respect and love in a few months than I have seen all the males give her in over 17 years!"

"..."

"What? Is something wrong?"

"That's quite a thing, isn't it?"

"What? That you loved her, it is!"

Adykon had left Vaeri once, having lied about a job in a distant land so that he could escape marrying her after fathering Kos on her. He had lied to her again about why he did not return, and Adykon was not sure if Vaeri had told Rhiga about his leaving her. He thought Vaeri had told Rhiga, indeed, he seemed to recall this after saving Vaeri from that dragon. Now... it was time to tell the truth.

"Rhiga, do you remember what your mother told you about me?"

"That you had met her in Hekaga and you had a child by her. Yes. We've seen Kosjurec. He's definitely his father's son!"

"Yes, yes. We all know that. You also remember that I had left Hekaga to fight a war to earn some money for the family."

"That's right, and you were delayed in your return, but it would have all turned out alright if not for Dememoras!"

"I'd like to think that, Rhiga. I really do."

"What do you mean?" Rhiga asked, confused.

"The truth is... I had no intention of ever marrying Vaeri until I met her again in that cave with the Dragon. No, it's worse than that; I had never intended to SEE her again after I left Hekaga. I couldn't let some pretty female take me away from my job, my adventures, my life! I already got her pregnant, and there was little more I could accomplish in Hekaga. I was tired of that city, and didn't want to bring a female and child along, and had no interest in the kids she had with other males, so I left."

"You left to fight a war... but never wanted to return."

"That's correct. I abandoned your mother after getting her pregnant. I left Hekaga. And I never looked back. The love I had for your mother was only present after I met her again in what must have been a stroke of fate or extreme luck. As soon as I had left the walls of Hekaga, I might as well have been a million miles away. Had I ever returned to Hekaga, I would have avoided your mother. If she had found me again, I wouldn't likely have cared for her. No, that last part isn't true. I DID care for her, but I didn't realize it until I saw her again, and as soon as I cared, she was taken from me."

Rhiga was not quite sure what to say. Adykon loved Vaeri, yet abandoned her? It made no sense. No... it made perfect sense. He loved her, but he loved his adventures more. He moved being able to go from city to city, and not be nailed down to any one place; to be able to live where he wanted, where he wanted, and to have a girl in every town. Was that it?

"You... you told her you would marry her when you got back?"

"That's correct. I lied. If I had stayed in Hekaga with your mother, I would still be there, with her and Kos. Might she have still been kidnapped by that Dragon? Maybe. I doubt I could have fought it off. Would I have been able to distract it? Probably. I could have held it off until the city guards drove it off or took it out, I suppose. In any case, when your mother died, I loved her. I thought that all the bad I had done was being canceled out, and that my... desire to explore would not get in the way. Instead, your mother got caught up in an adventure we chose to begin, and she died. We've both lost someone important to us. You committed a crime and left her, I told a lie and left her. We met her again, in spite of the odds, and she was taken from us by a cruel twist of fate."

"Adykon, I... I should be angry with you." Rhiga's voice was calm, almost emotionless.

"Yes"

"I should be infuriated. You lied to my mother, get her pregnant, and left her."

"Yes."

"And yet... look at me. I was a thief. I stole from the crown prince of my city, and I also left her. You cut her off from your support and left her in even greater poverty, and I did the same when I ran off." Rhiga's thefts had supported her family at times. Her mother didn't approve of stealing, but could not refused money to feed the kids.

"Yes. We have each done something to hurt the one we loved."

"Let's just... forget about it. We can still be friends. We must stay together as a party."

"Yes, we shall."

"I won't hold this against you. We've come too far to let something like this tear us apart, especially on the eve of a fight we might not..."

"...might not survive" Adykon finished her sentence.

"This is all too much for me. I-I'm going to go lie down for now. I have to rest before the wedding tomorrow. And Adykon... thanks."

"Thanks? For what? I did a very bad-"

"It took courage to say it. Even more courage to admit that you were wrong and apologize for it. So I thank you. You're a brave male, Adykon, very brave."

And with that, Rhiga took off to get some sleep. Adykon, for his part, sighed with relief. That was over. He had dreaded that moment for all these months, and what was supposed to be a thunderclap was hardly a tremble. This was not the only event that would happen to him tonight, as he felt a rather odd sense of lethargy. He had felt this before, when... oh no. It was that female archmage again. She contacted him in his mind with her magic, and began to speak...

"Well, they taste nice" Violet spoke with a giggle as she licked her lips before giving off a soft burp.

Ku'ux just nodded to Misro "Thanks I guess" he said with another snort again.

Violet decided to eat, yet, another petal "So, how long until the wedding starts anyway?" she asked as she continued to eat the same petal.

"Seems like this wedding will be in the morning sometime, seems to be too late to have one" Ku'ux replied to Violet.

Ku'ux turned walked off at that point, not really saying where he was going to head off to.

Violet just gave off a pout and gave Misro the flower basket "Here, before I have some more of them" she told him "Um, I think I'll go and get my sleep now, I uh, I don't want to look tired for the wedding" she added in with a smile before turning and heading off to her room.

Adykon felt the familiar presence of the archmage in his head.

"What now?" He thought. "I've gone through enough for tonight. Please, just let me be."

He blinked his eyes, and when he opened them again, he had seen that the world around him had changed to a room complete with a bed, rose petals on said bed, incense, scented candles, and a beautiful female all "dressed" for the occasion. Another vision of her's. Another illusion magically projected into his head. Normally, he would have been overjoyed. Tales of sorceresses coming into males in dreams were legendary. Adykon had heard stories of this before, which usually ended with the protagonist discovering that the girl of his dreams was real after all, and in the end, the act would be repeated, only in real life. This time, however;

"Do we have to do this? I have a lot on my mind. We only met once before." the warrior sighed, looking down. Since she was in control of the illusion, she had imagined him in "skyclad" gear as well. He had experienced this in real life as well, when Asthia used him for her own... designs.

"I know Adykon, I know."

"Isn't the mysterious voice in my head supposed to be a bit more... objective? That's how it works, doesn't it? An objective, omniscient presence that acts as a conscience tell the hero how to act and what to do. Here, you do that one minute, and the next, you are trying to get me into a fantasy bed."

"Dememoras killed my husband, remember? Actually, I don't recall if I told you that or not."

"His forces are besieging your home, ladt I heard, but your defenses were keeping them out. How are they holding up?"

"Better than I had expected. It's as if they've stopped trying to attack."

"That's good to hear."

"No, it's bad. It means they are pulling back to regroup and think of something else. What that 'something else' is, I don't know, and what they know and I don't is dangerous."

"Right. I wish I could help with that. So, what does this have to do with the attempt to bed me?"

"I'm a female locked in a tower with no male around. I've been cooped up for who knows how long. I'm bored, stressed, and frankly, I like you. Why do you think I'm interested in doing this consequence-free action? You can't get me pregnant, and neither of us can catch anything from this."

"Right, right." Adykon knew that neither of those things stopped Dracons from doing it in reality, especially with the widespread availability of cures for the latter.

"So, tell me, are you going to do this, or not?" She said, as she lay down on her back and spread her legs wide. It was quite a thing to see, even if Adykon knew it was just an illusion, a dream, an astral projection, a thing with all of the sensations and sights that would accompany such an act, but none of it was real.

"We can do it soon. I need to ask you a few things. Did you see all of that conversation?"

"I managed to worm my way past the anti-scrying wards in this palace. Had it been in Tallon or the King's residences, I couldn't contact you in this manner."

"I see. So, you think I did well?"

"Yes, very well. But that's not why I'm here?"

"You're not here to congratulate me on my coming clean with the lies of my past?"

"Well... you did do well, but I'm not here for that."

"You aren't here to warn me of some impending danger, too?"

"No. I already told you why I am here" she replied, pointing at her reddish femalehood.

"Let me ask, will this cause a real-life, physical reaction in you?"

"Come to think of it, it will, although I rarely consider that."

"It won't affect me?"

"Not this spell. I'm the one who is casting it, so the effects mostly filter back to my brain, nerves, and... you know..." she said, pointing at that area again.

"Right. Can you make things appear in this virtual setting? I know you made a citadel appear and made the landscape change."

"Yes, I can make things appear."

"Can you make some lotion appe-" a bottle of it appear in his hands. Well, his 'virtual' hands. "I suppose I should virtually rub it into you. As he did so, he realized that he was playing into her fantasy... literally. The archmage was no goddess, nor oracle, nor philosopher. "Gods, this feels so real, and yet... so wrong. How is this different from Asthia?"

"What?" She said, opening her real-life eyes, yet maintaining the illusion.

"Asthia kidnapped me and brought me to her tower, where she would have 'fun' with me on her own terms. Aren't you doing the same to me?"

The illusion of the archmage got up off the bed and replaced it with a pool of warm water large enough for both of them in the blink of an eye, as if it had been 'programmed' away.

"What she did was real. This is fake, and harmless. Your body is asleep in a chair. You are perfectly safe. I wouldn't attempt this on you in the middle of a fight, you know. Besides, I am perfectly willing to accommodate your wishes. You don't want do 'it'? Fine. But maybe you'll change your mind after I show you how harmless this is."

Was it harmless? Did this constitute something? Did distance between their two bodies count, or were words enough to make it so. Climbing into the 'water', Adykon told her his decision;

"I'll accommodate you this once, but don't ask me to do it again. I know how most of those stories end; the male and female share a fake hook-up in a vision, maybe even enjoy it. But even if the male was the mage, or both of them were mages, it very rarely turns into something real. I'll have to meet you in person for it to work. Arranging a real-life meeting by a virtual medium is one thing, but a virtual relationship... I cannot do it. There was a time when I would have been naive enough to swallow such stories, but no longer. If you want to meet me, I'll go to you in person and free you from your tower! Or house. Or palace, compound, domicile, lair, or whatever it is you are trapped in."

She thought about it.

"Alright Adykon. You win. I'll contact you in a few days to tell you where I am. I know that you are fighting Dememoras, as I am. We are allies, after all. We fought together against Arcantas, and we will win against his master, too! And you are right... I'm no conscience. I am a long-winded rich girl with magic powers and no husband who wants to steer you in what I think is the right direction. Now, let's save that for later, shall we?"

She got her way with him. It only lasted five minutes in the real world, but it went on for hours in their minds. When all was said and done, she felt much better, but Adykon was left with a sense of unease. So much controversy in one night, then a wedding, then a war. It was discomforting to say the least. Getting up from the chair, Adykon went to get some sleep for real. It would be a big day tomorrow.
