The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

"Guido look ok, just wet." Petrie said looking at Guido and guessing he was ok since he didn't seem or act hurt.

Grandpa Longneck nodded, "At this rate we will indeed be done before to much longer I think." He said. " It is going very well indeed."

“Yeah, I’m okay,” Guido said. He grinned sheepishly, appreciative of Amy’s concern but slightly embarrassed by the attention. “Just was playing with Tricia, and got a little wet,” he understated, spreading his soaked wings.

--------------------------------------------------

Pangaea, meanwhile, was trying to figure out the most effective way to swim as a Microraptor. As he had expected, his long flight feathers weighed him down, while not providing much resistance against the water, so he wasn’t getting anywhere fast using his wings for propulsion. He tried sitting upright in the water and paddling with his feet like a duck, but his waterlogged wings made him too heavy to float on the surface, and so their feathers now trailed in the water beside him, preventing a hydrodynamic profile without contributing to forward movement at all. He even tried propelling himself with his tail, but the broad feathery fan at its tip made it remarkably inefficient for that purpose. Wow, Guido was right, Pangaea thought, We gliders sure aren’t fit for swimming.

Not that it mattered. Pangaea was in no danger of drowning, and he wasn’t planning to win any swimming marathons. (Even as a human, he had never been a very fast or endurant swimmer. He mostly just enjoyed the feeling of weightlessness and freedom of movement that came from being immersed in water.) What he was interested in was what kinds of wildlife the freshwater habitats of the Great Valley had to offer. Having swum out into deeper water, he held his breath and ducked his head under. He spied a large flippered turtle resting on the bottom, and a toothy gar-type fish floating lazily beside a sunken log. A small school of lobe-finned fish like the one Pangaea had seen before swam past, and a few fin-backed newt-like creatures darted between piles of debris and clusters of aquatic vegetation, chasing tiny crustaceans. One of the newts got too close to the waiting gar, which snapped at it hungrily. The crocodile-like jaws barely missed the startled amphibian, which paddled frantically into a sheltering clump of water plants. Whoa! Pangaea thought. To heck with my swimming ability; this is the best swimming hole ever!

(OOC: Can anyone spot the movie reference in this post? It should be very familiar to everyone on this forum. ;))

Tricia giggled before she returned to swimming.  In the meantime, Cera was still in the shallow area.  She had just finished catching her breath from her water fight with Littlefoot and Shorty when she looked over in Amy's direction.  Since that morning, something had been bothering Cera, and she felt she was finally able to talk to Amy without being interrupted by some crisis or fun moment or another friend.  Cera sighed before she slowly made her way over to the flyer.

"Hey," she said awkwardly when she reached Amy.  "I know we have not talked much, and there's something I should really say to you."

"Hehe, this is fun, yep yep yep!" Ducky squealed as she swam past Cera.  Cera momentarily frowned at Ducky before her expression returned to being remorseful as she looked at Amy.

"I'm sorry...about the way Daddy treated you.  He's not very kind to strangers, but that's no excuse for his behavior," Cera said before she glanced at the water in front of her.

"Where you go?" Petrie asked looking at Belmont.  "Going to have nap or eat?" He asked.

As Anna was swimming around, she began to feel lightheaded and weaker.

Aw, crap.  I didn't eat breakfast, she thought to herself as she headed for shore.  Ducky happened to notice Anna was exiting the water, and swam over to her.

"Do you not want to swim anymore, Anna?" Ducky asked.

"Of course I wanna swim, Ducky.  It's just that I have not eaten yet today and here I am doin' strenuous activity.  I'll be right back after I get some food," Anna replied.

"Oh, can I come?  Please?" Ducky asked.

"Sure, why not?" Anna responded as she lifted Ducky up out of the water with her tail and placed Ducky on her open right palm.

"You have got the shakies, yes you do," Ducky said.  "That happens to me if I have not eaten yet.  It does, it does."

"Yeah, and I bet it happens to the others.  It's a result of there not bein' enough sugar in your blood," Anna replied as she headed over to a nearby tree that was full of lush treestars.

"What is sugar?" Ducky asked.

"Well, in this sense, it's what makes treesweets so sweet.  The stuff that tastes sweet is called sugar in the human world.  We need to keep our blood sugars up, and if we don't, we could eventually become very sick or even die," Anna said before she chewed a mouthful of treestars.

"Oh, that would be terrible, yep yep yep!" Ducky gasped.  "What did you mean by 'in this sense'?"

"Well, we also use that term in reference to a person with a sweet personality, especially one with an insanely sweet personality," Anna said before she ate another fistful of treestars.

"I do not know what an insanely sweet personality is, no no no," Ducky said.

"That surprises me, 'cuz you've got one," Anna piped before she took another bite.

"Me?" Ducky asked.

"Yup.  You're a very, very sweet girl.  Don't ever let that part of your personality go sour," Anna replied as she handed Ducky a couple of treestars.  "Want them?  I took more than I can eat."

"Thank you," Ducky giggled as she accepted Anna's offer.

"Another thing, Ducky.  When you're older and much bigger, please do learn how to grow a pair and stick up for yourself.  I'd hate to see such a nice swimmer be picked on or used by others," Anna said as she walked back toward the water.

"I do not know what 'grow a pair' means, but I think I do understand what you are saying, yes I do," Ducky giggled.  "I am glad to see you are okay now."

"Thanks, Ducky," Anna replied.  "Ready to go back in the water?"

"I always am, yep yep yep," Ducky chirped.  Anna rolled her eyes.

"Sometimes I wonder why I ask the obvious," Anna chuckled as she set Ducky down before the two returned to swimming.

Petrie looked at the ones getting out of the water, "If you want Spike can show you where green food is.  He can always find green food." Petrie said.

Belmont turned to Petrie and spoke "thanks but no thanks, I would prefer someplace quiet", then Belmont walked away, thoughts clouded his mind but he still knew where he was going to go.

Amy was about to respond to Guido, but Cera got to her attention. She responded gently, "You don't have to apologize, your dad and I are okay now, adults just sometimes can be too overcome with fear. Some lash out when they are afraid, others hold it in. It takes a strong, big person to admit they are afraid."

While Amy was talking to Cera, Little Foot had a chance to talk to his brother, or rather splash in his face.

"Hey Shorty, did you meet my friend Alli by the way?" He brightened up.

"I heard that it was also used to attack large groups of escaping civilians... Is that true, Sam?" Claw asked.

Little Foot was a bit puzzled by Shorty's question and responded, "Cute? Uh...I guess...she's...she's a lot of fun and a long time good friend!"

Little Foot sees Alli a little bit away and said, "Hey Alli, have you met my brother Shorty?"

Belmont walked into the center of the valley, it was quiet and he could think about these thoughts going through his mind.
