The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

"Representatives? Does that mean they have a say in the government? I'll find out more later, I guess. This is all so very new to me." Selene had heard of mage's councils, and certain Dracon tribes had warriors who met with their chiefs to decide their course of action, but the Dracon cities didn't have anything remotely like that in the civic government.

"I guess we can stay here," Torvin said, stretching out and draping another arm around Cassia.

-------------------------------

The Strutho was busy advising a customer on the best metal for a magic protecting ring.

"So, Torv, I know this seems a bit odd of me to ask. I don't want to break up this moment, but I really wanna know; how did you come to these dry lands? I came here seeking work as an adventurer, but I didn't think it would be such a long time before seeing another of my own kind."

Cassia asked this of Torvin as she had her arms around him. If she felt awkward bathing in a pool with a blacksmith with no clothes on, it didn't show.

"I heard that this was the best area for setting up a smithy and I decided to take a gamble. And it has paid off," Torvin said. He was now almost embracing Cassia.

---------------------

The Strutho entered the house to take a break. "I hope Torvin gets back soon. The Stygium is almost ready and if we overheat it, we could have a really nasty fire," he said.

"This is a good place for smithing, but doesn't it ever get lonely out here? There aren't exactly very many of our kind this far away from out homelands." Cassia was correct to say this, but her question was as much a hint as it was intended to elicit information from the horse-smith.

"I see a few of our kind around here but I socialize with my Strutho and assistants a lot," he admitted with a blush hidden by his fur.

"Well, maybe later on the two of us can... socialize. Not now, though. I think we should dry off a bit first. This bath was relaxing, but now I'm starting to get a bit too hot and my fur feels rather... wet. Your Strutho is probably wondering where you are, and I could use a rest. It's late, but tomorrow, we should... talk. What do you say to that, Torv?" Cassia looked at him with an expression that was 1 part affection, 2 parts desire.

"Yeah, it'll be a whole new experience when you're in Willowrock," Shiana replied.  "It's getting late, and we'll probably have to buy some more supplies for the trip."

The night was already advanced, but finally, Ophion, Cassia, Alima, Selene, Kos, and the others all fell asleep in their own respective places. Silverfang didn't sleep until morning, but as a powerful mage, his need for sleep was considerably less than that of others, given the spells he had cast on himself.

Selene awoke some hours later as the sun rose, bathing her gray-skinned face with golden light.

"Uhh... just a few more minutes. Who's idea was it for the sun to rise this early?" She thought to herself.

At the bed next to Selene's, Shiana had already risen and had her clothes on.  Adventurers like her, Halo, & Youri, naturally wake at the crack of dawn.  Being considerate to let the Dracon sorceress sleep, Shiana had herself together quietly, and Halo had stopped by long enough to drop off some food for the girls, much of it still hot on the nearby desk.

Within a few minutes, Selene awoke. She yawned, stretched, and put on her clothes. The smell of hot food wafted towards her nostrils, and she realized that she was hungry.

"Good morning, Shaina. I trust you slept well?" The young sorceress was sitting on the bed, using the claws on her fingers to remove some dirt from under her toe claws. It made a scraping sound like two seashells being scraped against each other.

"I have, and good morning to you too," Shiana replied, inspecting her bow.  "Halo brought up some breakfast.  I had my fill, so the rest is for you."

----------

In the other room, Youri watched out the window onto the square below.  Halo is already down at the stables with food for Storm Paw...

The square was already full of Dracons. Peddlers and traders had to rise early to get the best spots in the market, while young dracons, many of them orphans and street urchins, were running through the sandy streets, hoping to scavenge something left over from the market that was left there the day before.

"Thanks! I'll go get some food now." Selene moved over to find a plate of bread, eggs, and strips of dried meat. Chewing on the food, she spoke in between bites. "So, Shiana, when exactly do we leave? I imagine we have a lot to do between now and when we get to... wherever it is we are going."

"Our ferry won't arrive until tomorrow," Shiana replied as she sat down on the side of her bed.  "All we outsiders would probably do today is restocking our supplies for the trip and a little more sightseeing."

"Well, if all we have is one day, we should have a little tour. There is a place I think you might like. First, I'd like to know what you think of Minbenthac so far. How has your time in this city been? Did you see a lot of it? There are some things I would like to see once before we go." Selene had a place in mind... Minbenthac was a city known for its markets and fine wares.

Torvin was up cooking breakfast, oatmeal with honey.

The Strutho was pecking at his bowl of grain on the floor.

"So Cassia, Torvin, what were you doing when you left me to take care of the smithy?" he asked.

"Erm, we were at the hot springs," Torvin replied.

"We sure were! Torvin was a real gentleman to me. He knows how to treat a girl right!" Cassia entered the room, and stood behind Torvin, leaning her head against his shoulder.

Alima was in the room as well, trying to make a piece of meat on the stove, and succeeding only in burning it to crisp. The little kobold female usually ate her food raw, sometimes freshly ripped from the body of her tribe's victims. Cooking was a new experience for her.

The Strutho chuckled. "That's new," he said.

"Struth! Please don't talk about that," Torvin said with a blush as he finished cooking the oatmeal.

Taking some oatmeal in a bowl for herself, Cassia set the food down on the table. "Well, I know that this arid land doesn't have many of our kind, so it isn't surprising that Torvin wouldn't see a lot of females. I know I rarely see equine males. Who knew such strong smithing hands could be put to such fine purposes..."

"Well, Minthenbec is a spectacular city," Shiana replied.  "But it's simply not a place for outsiders like me to live here.  Halo & Youri could probably adapt, but not me.  So you mentioned you wanted to visit a few places today?"
