Dan looked around at the surroundings, glad he had worn his cap and sunglasses. "Looks like quite a variety of terrain in not to long of a distance traveled. or is this area suffering a drought." He said.

Deimos continued walking when he heard distant roars. "Okay, we might have some issues with sharpteeth but I think myself, Cleve, James and Frank can handle them," he said.

James nodded as he kept his shotgun at the ready.

"I smell them too," Chomper said, "It smells like..."

"It doesn't matter," Cleve interupted, arming his pistol, "any sharptooth who dares attacks us is a dead sharptooth."

"I wonder if they have detected us yet, and if so how are we to best defend ourselves or convince them to leave." Dan said looking in the direction of where the roars had come from.

Dan's question was answered when a pack of five fast biters approached the group.

"Let me handle this but be ready in case things get ugly," Deimos said.

He went up to the group.

"So you invade our territory?" the first fast biter asked in Sharptooth, which sounded like a series of growls and hisses.

"No. We are merely passing through," Deimos replied in Sharptooth.

"You know the rules, any leaf eater passing through is food," the second fast biter said, eying Ruby hungrily and taking a few steps closer. "And those weird dinosaurs look like a nice snack too." The fast biter was referring to Cleve, James, Frank and Dan.

Deimos blocked his path, holding his walking stick in front of him. "Not a good idea to eat the strange dinosaurs. They are very dangerous," he said in Sharptooth. He then switched to English/Leafeater. "Guys, I don't think they're going to back down. Get ready to fight," he said.

James readied his shotgun but kept it lowered. "Do you think we can bribe them with our food?" he asked.

"Maybe we could show them the damage our guns can do to show them that a fight is futile?" frank asked deimos.

"Let my friends go," Chomper demanded in Sharpteeth, "We outnumber you twelve to five."

"And why should we, little one?" asked a third fastbiter, "you guys are made up of a bunch of juvenile leaf-eaters."

"And plus," added another fastbiter, "we're hungry."

Chomper and Ruby both slowly retreated towards the humans in the group. Cleve, noticing the plight, arms his pistol grips the trigger.

"Who's carrying the food?" Cleve quietly and nervously asked, "Throw some fish into the forest next to us. Maybe that'll distract them long enough for us to get away."

"I don't think I have that." Dan said as he got ready to fight if need be. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his stun pen type of stun gun, in case he had to use that in combat if he had to.

Frank raised his Luger while putting away his colt and drawing his dagger. "This can only end two ways 1 you can let us pass and we can give you some fish we caught or 2 we can fight this out and that will end very badly," frank said.
Frank turned to chomper and asked "Chomper can you translate what I just said to these raptors?"

Chomper translated Frank's statement word-for-word. The fastbiters only scoffed at the treat.

"You think your sorry group can beat us?" mocked a fastbiter, "your army is hopeless. You stand no chance."

"They declined," Chomper said, "What should we do now?"

"Open fire?" Cleve asked, "I guess I can aim for the one on left. I'll be firing on your mark."

"Unfortunate that it has to come to this but hopefully this will be the last time." Dan said ready to fight with the weapons he had on hand.

Cleve readied his gun and pressed the trigger. A bullet rushed out of the M1911 Colt. It hit its target. The fastbiter on the left screeched and fell onto its side.

"We are not weak," Chomper said to the fastbiters, "We are great fighters. Let us go or you'll all suffer the same fate."

The younger raptor Frank was pointing his gun at stayed where he was and did nothing but stand there.

The other fastbiters seemed scared and confused. They have never matched an enemy this strong before. The fastbiter in front of Chomper backed off and regrouped with the other fastbiters.

"Should we run while they're distracted?" Cleve asked.

Dan nodded, "That sounds like an idea. It can't hurt to try again." He said, wishing they had not had to do what Cleve had had to do, but it had to be done.

Cleve took a step back and put away his gun. Chomper also took a few steps back.

"We don't want any harm," Chomper negotiated, "We only want passage."
