The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

As the guards locked Ashnii and Dae into their cells, a pair of figures stepped out from one of the shadowed corners of the dungeon.
"Take the girl from her cell."
One of them, a tall, hooded figure stated, it's voice echoing in a disturbing manner...

In the town, Sima Shi jotted a note onto a sheet of paper he had produced from a small satchel in his robe before handing it to the woman clad in armor that had attempted to stop the guard in the town square.
"Wang Yi, I would appreciate it greatly if you could deliver this note to my father.  It contains...sensitive information."
He said courteously, bowing as he handed over the page to the woman...

"I think it's better to rescue our friends first.  Those bandits willl likely be there tomorrow or next week." Chaka said.

"I am with you Chaka..." - Qa'Meret said as he grinned. - "and I think Sime Shi's father will be of great help with that. So we know they will have what they deserve, so we can focus on the task at hand." - he said as he firmly grabbed the dagger he found back at the tunnels.

Kyo walked along side Dru Essa and Feli. - "I hope our friends will be alright. I just wish I can help them." - Kyo then raised his face a little to look at his dragon, that was flying next to him.

"As strong as orcs are he can take the fort all by himself. What will we do, just cheer him on?" Chaka said.  "We won't be of any use and likely will just get in his way." Chaka said.

Eric nodded.
"Going solo is a fool's game.  Look at me if you want proof."
He chuckled bitterly...

"Although I am sure Taloc is awesomely strong, I don't feel like stepping aside in this fight. The Count and Countess could have jailed any of us so I am not going to cross my arms. I am going to fight." - Strange words coming from a Minstrel, but it is true what the city's governors did was a very hurtful move against the group.

Chaka shrugged, "At least I know a bound chair spell.  I'll be using that in combats since with the orc around I won't be of much use in combat."

"Perhaps, but I do know you are a good Healer, Chaka, and the ability to heal will always be superior to the ability to fight and destroy." - Qa'Meret said as he bowed a bit to the mage, he then turned around and started walking towards the fort. - "we should get going people, time is precious and we are running-out of it."

Eric nodded.
"Strength isn't all that's required.  For all we know, there could be mages who can inflict paralysis, or poisons that do the same.  If that happens, and one is alone...the results are rarely pretty"
He shivered...

"From what I've read orcs are as immune to magic as The Dwemer.  Thats what the one and only book I was able to find that talked about the various sentient races, says." Chaka said.  "and it said that orcs are as tough as Dovah were.  and being immune to magic could not do dragon shouts in the age when dovah were around before the nords killed all of the dovah."

=====

Walker had found a tree not to far from the fort.  He had climbed it, he had put some branches to break up his human profile.  He looked at the fort, trying to see if he could get any information from the place he was, among all the branches & leaves.

Eric nodded, rolling his shoulders.
"If nothing else, fighting in a group like this should prevent any risk of being outflanked, as well."
He noted, as Sima Zhao grinned, idly throwing both arms behind his head.
"And it'll keep this from being boring!"
He added, a cheery smile on his face...

Kyo looked at Dru Essa. - "I f you think that can help, sure." - he then sat down feeling some frustration and still angry against the Count and Countess.

"I wonder where Walker is..." - Qa'meret asked. - "we could use his help in this mission, so I hope he'll join us when we get to that fort."

Eric shrugged.
"No clue.  I can't smell him, oddly."
He said softly...

The countryside was good for a party of their size: it was thickly forested on the sides, and an individual approach would be all but invisible to the high vantage points provided by the towers. It was thick enough that a large number of troops would never be able to penetrate it, but a small band would, and he imagined that might have been on of the reasons his group was chosen by the count for this mission. There were several streams that were fueled by the runoff from the waterfall by the fort, which did cause some gaps in the canopy but made up for it by providing some watery racket that would hide the sound of someone--or several someones-- making their way through the thicket. The soil was a bit a of a problem-- it made footprints rather easily, which wasn't at all safe. Still, their was enough loose rock mixed among the dirt and earth that it didn't make a particularly identifiable footprints (with his feet, they might mistake them for bear tracks).

But his eye lay sharp into the winding coils of slash pine and scrub, and his hand was set against the handle of his battle hammer. He had yet to see any deer, bear, or boar despite this being such a ripe area for wildlife. Animals didn't leave fertile areas like this untouched without a reason. He suspected he knew why.

A half hour passed as he continued to make his way towards the towering spires of the fort. He had left a nice big gash in one of the trees so the others would find his trail, but he had to admit they seemed to be taking their time. It was almost as if they were walking the whole way. The horizon was beginning to glow orange as the sun began to draw down, and the temperature rapidly plummeted with it. A cricket chirped, and then a frog. And then he stopped dead in his tracks as he heard what he had been expecting to hear.

A sneeze, and an all too human groan not less than twenty meters ahead.

The bandits had sentries in the forests. Taloc carefully drew his handaxe. His hammer would make too much noise if there were other sentries around-- he didn't want to blow his groups cover. 'Malacath-- forgive me for this dishonorable kill...' The bandit, clad in simple leather and leaning on his spear as if his ankles weren't working, wasn't able to turn up in time to see the axe as it decended over his neck, and died not knowing what had hit him. Frowning, Taloc gathered the head and the body and dragged it off to the side. As he was about to go back on his way, Taloc saw something sticking out of his pocket: a piece of paper. Raising an eyebrow, Taloc took the paper, and in the rapidly dimming light, began to read it.

Walker was on a tree branch in a tree well hidden by the leaves when eh saw a group under him, heading back towards the fort.  He crouched down,  waiting not breathing nor blinking till the last person was passing under him.  Wrapping his legs around the tree branch he then swung down, grabbing the last person around the neck cutting off all airflow and using his legs and abdominal muscles pulled them back up into the tree.  And with a quick twist he didn't have to worry abou the person making any noise.  he then took the belt off, securing the body on a higher branch, taking his bolts & crossbow.

===================

"Are we going in the right direction?" Chaka asked.  She was glad she knew the bound sword spell since she may need that, though she doubted she'd be doing much with the orc around being as tough as dovah, from what she read, and immune to magic, as the book said.

"An hour? That fort is indeed far away, but I hope we can make the trip shorter somehow." - Qa'Meret told the group as he started walking faster, entering in the woods that flourish outside the city, but keeping his eyes and ears the most alert he can because he bets the new adversaries won't just stay inside the fort all the time.

Kyo was waiting for Dru Essa's reply, maybe she'll want to tell a story to him. Stories are always great to hear, they make imagination to fly. But right now, the kid wants th story to make the time go faster, since he was not allowed to go, at least he wants the group to return safely as quickly as possible. He then looked at his dragon, the little creature was looking outside in the direction the group went.
