Would the Irritator be a character who's easily irritated, or would a character with a very irritating personality? Seriously, though, as awesome as spinosaurids are, let's be careful not to go overboard with characters. Remember, we don't want our group to get too big.

:lol  :lol  :lol  I was thinking the latter!! The character would've been so annoying that scientists millions of years later would be irritated with him!!  :DD  But nah, I probably won't bring in my newly improvised character into the RP yet! He'll need more development! :p

Oh!! I just had the thought involving a familiar group of my OCs: how would you feel about a very brief cameo meeting Tiki, Tero, Teryx, Clubbie, and Cookie? They'll be looking for the Valley and run into our Big Water group. Just a brief cameo for me to spazz out to, the OCs ask for directions, then go off on their way. I'm not sure if I'll be using them again in the RP (I ain't got any plot ideas for them to take part in, unless you or anyone else might have an idea), but it seems like a little treat. Whaddya think, Pangy? :D
Sure, I have no problem with that. :) Sounds perfect. I do seem to remember you saying a long time ago that you wanted your OCs to show up in the RP at some point. And heck, if they're only going to have a minor appearance, you can use that Irritator character once you develop him a bit more if you like. :p

EDIT: Sorry, I may have gotten a little caught up in the moment there. Let me revise that last statement by saying that I'll still be open to letting you use your improvised Irritator character once you develop him a bit, but we should make sure to have an idea of what exactly to do with him so he's not just a superfluous character. I'm still concerned about having too many characters in this RP.

Alright! I have now officially entered the world of LBT. My first two posts are now up!
Looks great, Fyn. :D Just so you know, though, it's daytime in the RP (around noon). Sorry, forgot to tell you that. My bad. :oops

EDIT: Oh dear, new page. :o Wow, there's been more new activity in this thread lately than I thought.

For anyone joining (or re-joining) us late, check the beginning of the previous page (52) of this thread for information and updates on the story arcs in this RP. ;)

I will indeed still be playing Stromer, if that's alright with everyone. And in case you're wondering, Spinosaurs are my favorite type of Dinosaur haha.

As for Becker, his main meal is fish so he can very well get along with herbivores. Thought young ones are tempting to him haha.

In fact, here's his profile. He's an old character of mine, used him in private RPs with a friend of mine long ago.

I think I'll have Daniel once again land on Sparky's head haha.

I felt the urge to add an OC for Pangaea's upcoming story arc.

May I introduce:

Name: Ayah
Gender: Female
Species: Quetzalcoatlus northropi
Age: Adult
Appearance:

Personality: A strong willed and fearsome huntress, Ayah was considered by many to rule the skies. She was known for being almost ruthless when it came to hunting her prey, but also paying respect to them.

Brief Description: Ayah was born in the mysterious beyond. She never knew her parents as she was orphaned at an early age. But her years alone hardened her and she eventully taught herself how to survive, how to hunt and how to fly.

Ayah had always roamed fairly close to the Great Valley but (despite her leisure of being able to swoop down and snatch potential prey) she has never gotten too close to it, as she knew that most carnivores who attacked the place barely made it back. She also rarely takes sides, however, when she heard of a possible attack on the Valley, she knew it would be a great opporitunity to hunt as most of the herbivores would be distracted.

^ Umm…I'm not sure how to say this without sounding exclusionary, but I'm not so sure about these characters. For one thing, we already have our antagonists for this story arc: Screech and Thud (with Red Claw behind the scenes). I don't think it's necessary to throw more villains into the mix, nor do I really want to. Zerod is also a far more violent character than I feel comfortable with having in the RP. Ayah doesn't bother me as much, but I still don't think we need another antagonist for the Great Valley storyline. Also, logistically speaking, I don't see how Ayah could know about Screech and Thud secretly entering the valley to plan an attack that only they and Red Claw know about, especially if she doesn't even like to go near the valley. Not to mention the leafeaters will hardly be more vulnerable to attack; if anything, they'll be more on the alert than ever. Sorry, but I just don't see how we can fit her into the current story arc. You're welcome to get your current characters involved if you want, though, Belmont; all you have to do is give me some requests or suggestions as far as what they can do.

Now, like I said in an earlier post, I would never think of forcing the players in this RP to pursue only the kinds of activities and subplots I like. The purpose of this RP is for everyone to enjoy themselves, and to be able to do so freely. However, I do feel that there should be a limit on the kinds of characters and subplots that appear in the RP. For example, I'd prefer not to have slaughterfests, or excessively brutal characters who kill just for the sake of killing.

Also, while technically there's no limit to the number of characters a player can have, I think we should be careful not to introduce too many new characters into the RP. The more characters you have, the harder it is to keep track of them all. It can be difficult to remember where everyone's characters are and what they are doing as it is.

I'm sorry; I hope I didn't offend anybody with this post.

The entire purpose of those two characters was actually just because I thought it would be cool to add a Quetzalcoatlus northropi in the story. The reason I said that character never got close to the Valley is because I wanted a reason as to why no one had seen her up to the point where she would have appeared. Also she isn't so much an antagonist as much as simply a neutral character.

As for Zerod, the plan was to include a villian that rivaled, if not surpassed, the Tyrannosaur from the original film. Someone that pretty much has it coming, he was also meant to be the antagonist in Ayah's storyline.

The main reason I introduced these two was to at least have one original character in the RP to call my own but if don't want these two in the RP, I understand.

From 8th till 16th September I'll be on vacation, so I might not be able to post then. Not that I'm much more active now, for which I apologize. :(

No problem, Myrkin. :) I'm glad to hear that you're at least still playing.

I'm waiting for LBTFan13 to post (I may send him a reminder via PM), then I'm hoping to move the Big Water group out of the valley as quickly as possible. We've been stalling long enough. :p

In case if anyone is wondering, I'm still participating in this this RP. I just figured that I could let the current activity roll by so that I don't get ahead of everyone. I had planned for Chronicler's group to arrive at where Ruby's family lives by sunset, and since it's currently around noon, I've got some waiting to do. (Besides, Vonboy's latest post left me a little confused, so I have no idea how to respond. )

Oh, sorry. I thought you had left the RP, but didn't check with you to be sure. My bad. :oops

Do you need to be brought up to speed on anything? Be sure you read this post detailing the two main story arcs* that are taking place in the RP at this point.

*not counting Chronicler’s subplot, which I don’t believe is open to new participants at this time.

Good to see you’re still in the game, too, Vonboy. Do you still want to be a part of the Big Water group, or will your character be staying in the Great Valley?

Reading through the last few pages, it looked like you had Chomper say something to the Fast Biters that seemed kind of unrelated to what was happening.

Basically, where we were at the last time I posted was that you had Cutter reluctantly rejoin his brothers, who warn the group to get out of their territory, which Chomper translates so the group knows. Ruby and Chronicler agree with the demand, since the group is already in a hurry to pass through the area anyway, due to Claw's condition.

After that in your latest post... I think you had Chomper say something to the Fast Biters, and it just seemed way out of context. Not to mention, that comment was apparently addressed to the Fast Biters; characters that you are playing.

So what confuses me is that you had Chomper say something that doesn't make sense, and the only player who can respond to your latest post is... yourself? :wacko  Yeah, I'm very confused now. Just read through the last few pages of the RP and you'll see what I mean.

I do remember playing several characters myself for this, and now that I've regained my valley legs, I would like to keep the subplot inside the valley going. However picking up from where I last left off would take a day or two of reading and while that would by no means be boring, it would take a bit more time than I'd prefer.

If its not too much trouble, a quick recap of what is happening insdie the valley would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, GVG! :wave

I got your PM; writing my response has just been going a little slow due to continuous real-life distractions. :oops I'll just post it here.

I have to say, I was so convinced that you had permanently left the RP that I put Spike and Grandma Longneck up on a list of unplayed characters for other RPers to pick up. :oops The good news is, no one did, so you're free to go back to playing them if you want. :)

Here's the recap you wanted, along with an overview of the upcoming plans for the Great Valley storyline: :)

Ozzy and Strut, who had entered the valley last night, ran into Pangaea after a series of unsuccessful nest raids (the last of which resulted in a hollowhorn announcing their presence to the entire valley). Not wanting the egg stealers to be hunted down and attacked by the valley dinosaurs (or to remain in the valley and continue to be a threat to the valleyers' eggs), Pangaea offered to take them out of the Great Valley and lead them to the Big Water, where he hopes they will be content eating the eggs of turtles and other reptiles that do not form strong parental bonds with their offspring. The egg stealers agreed, just before several other GOF members and Great Valley residents arrived at the scene. Pangaea and the other Ozzy and Strut fans in the group managed to convince the native dinosaurs present (namely Mr. Threehorn) to let the egg stealers leave the valley without any further hassle. Blindfolding Ozzy and Strut with leaves and leading them by a vine (ostensibly to make them look like they had been captured and restrained so that no other valley residents who saw them on their way out would attack them out of panic, but in reality as extra insurance that they would not try to run away if surprised, and to disorient them so that they would have trouble finding their way back into the Great Valley), the group that would accompany the egg stealers to the Big Water began making their way out of the valley, escorted by Rob and Mr. Threehorn, with Littlefoot leading them to the beginning of the route that he and his friends took in LBT IX. Hopefully LBTFan13's next post will have them arriving at their departure point, after which Pangaea, Ozzy, Strut, Guido, Sparky (FlipperBoidSkua), Nana (LBTDiclonius), Daniel (Redtooth101), and Miles (Fyn16) will proceed on their own.

Meanwhile, Red Claw (whose deteriorating sanity has led to him branding all of the valley dinosaurs who were present at the previous night's battle as "enemies" whom he must kill in order to protect his reputation as the most fearsome of sharpteeth) has assigned Screech and Thud a new task: to enter the Great Valley undetected and identify the sleeping spots of the dinosaurs on his "hit list", so that he will be able to sneak into the valley himself and kill them as they sleep. Screech and Thud have agreed, out of fear for what Red Claw might do to them if they didn't, but have privately begun to debate whether or not it is worth it for them to continue putting their lives at risk by following Red Claw's orders. (As of this point, they have not yet entered the Great Valley.)

My plan for the fast biters is that they will succeed in avoiding detection for a while once inside the valley, but as time goes by, some of the more observant characters will begin to become suspicious, finding footprints, detecting faint whiffs of fast biter scent, hearing the occasional snapped twig, rustling bush, and whispered fast biter vocalization, and perhaps catching one or two extremely brief glimpses of them. Eventually a small meeting is held, discussing the evidence of fast bitersópossibly Screech and Thudóin the valley, and asking the question of what they are doing. Rob, whom Screech and Thud have not yet seen in his fast biter form, offers to find Screech and Thud and become a double agent of sorts, posing as one of the other fast biters involved in the mass ambush from earlier who wants to help them (claiming a head injury as the reason for his less-than-perfect grasp of sharptooth language and behavior :p), when of course in reality he is acquiring information on what they are up to, and providing his friends and the valley dinosaurs with a means of tracking Screech and Thud's whereabouts, ultimately leading them into a trap. Since I want to give everyone who is interested a part to play in this story arc, I'd like to leave further details up to the other players.

The Big Water subplot is probably not a relevant, being largely disconnected from the central story, but you can read this post for further information on it.

On another note, GVG, what were you planning on doing with those other OCs you had brought into the RP before? I suppose you could bring them back if you really wanted to (and if it would still work for LBTFan13), though if you decided to do so, could you please tell me (by PM if you prefer) what you had in mind for them? I remember being completely confused last time about who your characters were and what they were doing in the Great Valley.

Sorry, that recap might not have been nearly as quick as you wanted. I hope it was helpful, at least. :)

You mean this, right?

Quote
<Well, I smell some leaf eaters nearby, guys. They probably would just rather try they're luck with that than a couple of sharpteeth.> Chomper pointed out.

I didn't even realize I made Chomper say that in Sharptooth, as it was meant for the rest of the group. I changed it back to regular leafeater, with the ""'s.

Okay, the members of the Big Water group are now in the process of taking their first steps out of the valley. (Sorry this announcement is a little late; I wasn't entirely sure it was necessary.)

As I believe I mentioned in an earlier post, it would be great if everyone involved in this subplotóPangaea, FlipperBoidSkua, LBTDiclonius, Redtooth101, and Fyn16ówould post at this point; sort of a roll call, I guess you might say. Fyn and I are already accounted for (and I know FBS is still taking part, though she hasn't posted in a few days) but I'd like to know that LBTDiclonius and Redtooth101 are still participating, if you guys don't mind. :)
Okay Pangaea thank you for clearing that up. Posting right now.
