As a fan of NASCAR, whenever I see a one or two digit number, I sometimes can't help but immediately think of certain drivers who were well known for racing with that number on their car. For example...

Perhaps the most famous number ever in NASCAR, as it was used by "The King" Richard Petty, who won seven championships (tied for the most with two other drivers) and 200 races (no one else comes even half as close).

Well, Richard Petty was one of the older legends of NASCAR (he raced back in the '60s, '70s, and '80s), so I don't think he really got as rich as today's drivers do, despite the immense success he had back in those days.

This number was used by his grandson, Adam Petty, who tragically died in a crash just as his racing career got started back in 2000, so we'll never know if he could have been anywhere as good of a stock car racer as his legendary grandfather was.

In NASCAR, this number was used by another driver who won seven championships (five of which he won all in a row from 2006 to 2010, with the other two coming in 2013 and 2016), and that's Jimmie Johnson. He won a total of 83 races throughout his racing career in the NASCAR Cup Series, which puts him within the top ten best of all time. He retired from full time racing after 2020, briefly raced Indy Cars in the two years since then, and will soon return to a part-time schedule in NASCAR, next season.
