The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Who am I?

This man was involved in two revolutions. One in his home country and one on the other side of the Atlantic.

Nope. For all I know he only led what may be called a Revolution in Haiti. However, the person we are looking for has also a French name. The Revolutions he was involved in were really BIG ones.

That's the man I'm talking of. And to "cut a short story long" his full name is: Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, the Marquis de Lafayette.
Marquis de Lafayette is actually only his title. Your turn Nick.

Many Americans wouldn't know him period, Let alone his full name. What was Aaron Burr planning to do which caused him to be tried for treason?

Aaron Burr was charged with a conspiracy. I think the true aim of that conspiracy has never been determined with absolute certainty. However at its grandest, the plan may have been for Burr to make a massive new nation in the west, forged from conquered provinces of Mexico and the states west of the Appalachian Mountains. Burr was to have been the leader of this Southwestern republic.
Quite ambitous if you ask me.
I wonder sometimes how the world would look today if indeed such a state had been founded, or if the United States had broken appart on other ocassions (Civil War) or if Texas had never joined the US. There is much room for speculations.

Well Burr planned to seperate New England from the Union and connect it with western territory. But he was only able to raise 60 followers who were willing to support  his plan. Given that Burr was Vice-president, that is stunning. Burr was a very chrismatic man, and a good politician.

Indeed. Maybe I ought not to have given the translation of the Latin praise of him to make it a little harder. But on the other hand it would have been rather stupid in a language even I can hardly understan after years of Latin lessons.

Some words are easy to pick up as they originate from latin (or greece) terms. Tyrannis is just one example.
Anyway, your turn Nick.

Two native Americans come to my mind. Squanto, who showed the settlers how to plant corn and catch fish and above all served as a translator.
The other one would be Massasoit, chief of the Wampanoag who welcomed the settlesrs and helped them out with food supplies in the first winter. The invitation of Massasoit and 90 of his men through the pilgrims after their first harvest is said to be the foundation stone of the Thanksgiving.

My voice appeased even death and the wild beasts. Oh if only I had not looked back over my shoulder for my loved one she would have left the shade of death again. Whom am I and who is my beloved wife?
