The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

2 things I hate most: Math and car driving.
2 things I love most: English and music.
Somewhat similar.

I UTTERLY hate higher math (and physics) but love biology and chemistry.

I can hold an intelligent conversation about nearly any subject (biology to astronomy to humanities).

BUT I do not consider myself a Renaissance Man.

I like the adrenaline rush that comes from fear.  That's the main reason I'm into horror films and books :lol.

^ I enjoy adrenaline rushes as well, but I don't like being startled, so I get most of mine from books, movies, fanfics, etc. that I simply find exciting.

Today also happens to be my one-year anniversary of joining the GOF. :wow I didn't bother to start a thread for it because (1) there seems to be a consensus that such threads are just a tad frivolous, and (2) it's really not all that significant an occasion, since I didn't actually do anything after I joined for the first 127 days, until I introduced myself in The Welcome Center. :p

Yeah, but you've made a lot of contributions since, especially to the "Fanart and Fanfiction" section.  Congratulations on your anniversary, Pangaea :)!

^ Thanks. :)

(Just so I’m not spamming the thread with extraneousóif deservedóthank-you notes, I’d better post another fact about myself: :p)

I’m not particularly good at math. I can only do the most basic math problems in my head, and when I do multiplication problems on paper, I tend to write them out as addition problems. For instance, if I were presented with this problem:
Quote
5 x 487
...I would write it out on paper like this:
Quote
487 + 487 + 487 + 487 + 487
:crazy

I would love for such games as the geography game to include a little more than just the spelling of the words, e.g. one additional fact about whatever place is named thee.

Twice, when I was about 7 or 8, when I was playing Final Fantasy VII I finally got pas a really hard part for me, but my mom told me that we had to go somewhere (and no save points were nearby), so I secretly left the console on so I wouldn't have to repeat that section

I have contributed several games to the party room, but only a handful go on for any amount of time.

I suck at drawing, yet I made a pretty realistic fish for a flash game I'm (slowly) making in photoshop.

I'm a bit of a wierd person, in the sense that I gravitate towards the things that I fear the most.  For example, I am absolutely terrified of radiation and have had many terrible dreams about it (either being poisoned by it or otherwise see it causing suffering) yet I recently took a tour of a nearby Nuclear Reactor (radiation suits and all)  to learn how unsafe they actually were.

I like the promise of nuclear power, although I also believe in very tight codes of safety for such power plants.

I have a cash box filled with coins, but very few of them are rare. I have a ton of nickels, dimes, and quarters in that box, but all the bills have been since put into the bank.

With regard to nuclear energy I am particularly concerned about the unanswered question on what to do with the nuclear waste. Not long ago it turned out that in a dump for nuclear waste over here the kegs of nuclear waste were literally bobbing up and down while corroding in salt water :confused

I support Natural Gas as the best alternative fuel that can be used today. Not only does it burn more cleanly than the other fossil fuels (coal and oil), but there's also plenty of it right here in America, which would allow us to not be so dependent on foreign oil. Also, the technology to use this fuel (at such a massive scale) already exists today, unlike other alternative energy like wind, solar, or "clean coal". (I don't believe in clean coal at all.)
